Yura stood up with a smile and offered. Sunghee couldn’t help rolling her eyes as she watched Yura speaking in a disgustingly cute voice. Was she trying to flirt with Min Seungju? Their hot manager looked up at her from his desk and smiled.
“No thank you. Anyone else wants anything to drink?”
“Oh, I want some coffee, Yura.”
“Me too.”
The other male workers around us raised their hands one by one. It was obvious Yura was making an effort not to look annoyed. Sunghee covered her mouth to hide her smile, but it seemed Yura noticed. She glared as she suddenly grabbed Sunghee’s shoulder.
“I can’t bring all the mugs by myself. Let’s go together, Sunghee.”
When Sunghee felt Yura’s hard squeeze, she knew she had no other choice. Sunghee actually didn’t mind helping because she has been wanting to stretch her legs.
“So four coffees total?”
After counting the people who raised their hands, Sunghee and Yura left the office to head to the nearby employee lounge. As soon as she checked that the break room was empty, Yura pouted and grumbled.
“What the hell! I only asked the manager, so why were all the other men making a fuss? This sucks.”
“Don’t be so harsh on them. Those men obviously love getting coffee served by a woman.”
Sunghee smirked as she added ground coffee to the coffee maker. Yura crossed her arms and shrugged.
“Hmph, I’m not interested in losers like them. The only one I’m interested in is the sexy manager. Oh by the way, have you seen the new team leader in the Strategic Planning Department? He’s also super hot too. I believe we lucked out with all the handsome newbies.”
“Stop dreaming, Yura. Manager Min is out of our reach.”
Sunghee said firmly as she watched the coffee maker. Yura rolled her eyes and walked to the door.
“I’m going to the bathroom. If I fix my makeup, maybe he’ll notice me. Should I wear some perfume too?”
“Don’t. Do you know what kind of a headache I get if I have to smell perfume all day in that small office? Don’t do it.”
Ignoring Sunghee’s warning, Yura walked out humming. Sunghee looked at the door for a while before shaking her head. Tall and glamorous, Yura rarely failed to seduce a man once she put her mind to it.
On the other hand, Sunghee was small and chubby. She had zero talent in seducing men and the two boyfriends she had in her entire life both dumped her for another woman. And both times, her boyfriends didn’t even wait the customary waiting period of one month before dating again. At this point, one would expect her to give up on her dream of a “perfect man”, but secretly, Sunghee still believed she would someday meet THE ONE and have a passionate love affair. She knew she was being pathetic, but still…
“What’s wrong with me?”
She sighed and watched the coffee drip down when suddenly, she heard footsteps at the door. Sunghee turned around to see the man with thick glasses and frizzy hair. He was wearing a suit that was already crumpled even though it has only been a few hours since their work hour began.
Gosh, it was that annoying Sejin.
Sunghee frowned slightly and said to him in annoyance,
“Coffee’s not ready yet. Could you wait a bit?”
“No, I’m not here for that.”
His voice was surprisingly deep. It almost sounded like his voice was hoarse from screaming. Sunghee raised her eyebrows and asked,
At his unexpected question, she blinked as she stared at him. She couldn’t understand what he was talking about. Was she mad at him? But they’ve never even had a decent conversation before.
“What are you talking about?”
When she looked at him with a frown, Sejin looked back at her with a curious expression. He repeated his question again.
“So you aren’t mad at me?”
“No. Why?”
“Because you won’t talk to me.”
“But we never talk to each other…”
Did he think they were friends? Sunghee wanted to ask him, but it seemed too rude to say something like that. It couldn’t be a good thing to upset your coworker, right? So instead, Sunghee shrugged and added,
“It’s not like that. I think there has been a misunderstanding.”
He looked at her for a moment before turning around when he heard someone’s voice. Sunghee also turned towards the door to find Manager Min.
“Is the coffee ready?”
“No, there wasn’t any left, so I had to make a fresh pot. Would you like some?”
Seonghee tried to speak in her prettiest voice possible without sounding fake. The manager smiled and nodded.
“Yeah. If you have enough, I’ll have a cup too.”
“Yes, of course.”
“Sejin, would you mind waiting here and helping Sunghee carry them when they’re ready?”
Sejin nodded without voicing his answer. With a smile, the manager turned around and headed back to the office. Standing by the door and watching the manager leave, Sunghee sighed softly. That guy was too hot for his own good. He should’ve definitely been an actor or a model.
“So you like Manager Min.”
Sunghee jumped when Sejin murmured quietly. OMG, she had forgotten that he was there. Sejin was staring at her with a blank face. Placing one hand on her pounding heart, Sunghee shook her head.
“Of course not. Don’t you know that it’s a bad idea to date someone from your work? It’s a sure way to ruin your life.”
“Ah, is that so?”
Sejin pushed back his messy hair with a shrug. Sunghee, feeling awkward, stared at the coffee maker as if her life depended on every drop. Please god… She prayed Sejin would just forget about this whole thing. He didn’t look like the sharpest tool in the box, so…
Unfortunately, this wasn’t her lucky day. When she heard Sejin’s deep voice again, she was surprised she didn’t faint on the spot.
“Then you wouldn’t mind me telling the manager that we slept together?”
