Between spending lunch talking to John and your mother, you guess the later is the lesser evil.
Her voice sounds slightly strange, with a weird touch of emotion on it. "Hi Kyrie, how're you doing? I was just at home and was thinking about you…. You know, you're always so far, and I really miss you."
Your mom pauses for a second, before answering. "Yes, sorry about that. I've been busy with stuff, so I forgot to call you…. I know you're at work now, but I just thought about you…."
She then starts to tell you some random things about something she baked the night before, and update you on how some distant relatives are doing. You're not particularly interested, but you feign enough attention for a while. Finally, she realizes your lack of attention. "Anyway, you must be busy, so I'll let you go. Love you lots!"
