“This job is very painful. It’s a job where you have to do anything for money… it’s literally the perfect job for a capitalist world. Killing people can be done so simply with money.”

As he glanced up at the sky and spoke his words in a candid voice, Azela hurriedly moved to the corner. Stretching out her hand to grasp the sword, she could hear an eerie sound piercing the flesh.

“Still, I really like this job. You can kill people, and you can make money.”

“Uaacckk…!!”

The fiery pain felt in her left hand caused her to shut her eyes tightly and let out an unknowingly loud scream. The back of her outstretched left hand remained immobilized, stuck in the sword. It was a trap.

It was a shallow plan to deliberately make her move.

An indescribable pain took over her entire body. Azela, helpless at the pain she felt for the first time, put her head on the ground and clenched her teeth.

“It hurts? It hurts? It hurts, right?”

The assassin clattering above her head asked the question, but even that did not reach her ears.

Azela was so startled at the moment that she let out a scream, but she shouldn’t have. The people in the mansion would run out if they heard her scream. Knowing that if anyone heard those screams and came out, they would have the same fate as her.

“What, are you holding back now?”

“….”

“It’s no fun if you hold it in.”

As he crouched down on his knees, he could see her holding her fist and enduring the pain. When he turned the sword from side to side, blood gushed from the back of her hand and a grotesque, bone-piercing sound could be heard in the garden.

“Uuuhhhtttt!!!”

Azela gritted her teeth and slammed her forehead into the ground. Perhaps it was fun to see such pain, the assassin laughed out loud.

The man was crazy.

Tears of pain flowed from her tightly closed eyes, but the screams did not escape her lips. Only a grotesque sound piercing the flesh could be heard in the quiet garden. He was so ruthless that she thought she might not be able to use that left hand anymore.

“They say you’re tough, but it’s true.”

The assassin drew the sword from the back of her hand and stabbed hard again in her left shoulder. Blood trickled down her arm, but again, she made no sound. Even though she looked like she would pass out at any moment, Azela barely held it back as she caught her fading consciousness.

“Not fun.”

The assassin drew the sword from Azela’s shoulder again with a grim expression, and rested his chin on his knee before throwing the sword in his hand behind him.

Azela, who lay flat on the ground like a worm, let out a hot breath. Her whole body was hot and she thought she might die here.

‘…Then, what about Zagnac?’

If she died here, could he go and retrieve her soul? Even in the midst of such danger, the end of her thoughts was always him. If he couldn’t retrieve her soul, he would be annihilated. If she was going to die anyway, she had to die in front of him.

“The request was to kill you while playing with it. If it’s not fun like this, my reputation won’t stand up to the clients.”

Azela sighed evenly. She didn’t have to wait for someone to come and rescue here because there was no one to help me in this mansion.

At that moment, Zagnac’s face appeared in her mind, but she shook her head.

He better not come.

“Yes, I wonder how long that lofty face would last.”

He soon grabbed her by the back and gently flipped her onto the ground. As her back touched the ground, the aching pain ran through her body again. Azela pursed her lips and furrowed her brow, holding back her voice.

Slam.

A fist flew towards Azela’s face.

“Actually, I like this more than when poking with a sword.”

Bam.

The fist hit the other cheek this time and there was even a ringing from how big the blow was. Her cheekbones tingled, and her teeth felt like they were shaking.

A liquid, unknown whether it was saliva or blood, dripped from her mouth.

“I like it better when I hit it with my own hands.”

He gave her an ugly laugh at the taunting tone. It was a dirty smile, like a drugged man.

It seemed that her nose seemed to have collapsed since she couldn’t breathe properly. Azela raised her head. Behind the assassin’s back, a bright moon was shining on the two of them, looking down at the two people.

“Pft.”

Azela laughed loudly. The assassin who hit her in the face looked absurd when he heard her laugh.

“What, are you crazy with those hits?”

“…Just this much?”

“What?”

“Is this the best thing you can do by having fun?”

Azela groaned. She did not want her pride to collapse like this.

‘…I’m okay.’

Thinking that to herself, she gritted her teeth and repeated what Zagnac had said to her. It was okay, it was no big deal. Let’s think so.

‘It doesn’t hurt.’

When she thought so, it was as if she could hear Zagnac’s voice in her ears. Azela sneered as she opened her eyes, which could not be properly opened due to the swelling.

“You.”

The assassin, furrowing his brow, climbed over her body. Azela’s inner lips trembled at the terrible gaze that looked down on her, and against her own will, her body trembled.

Grabbing her by the collar, he uttered with murderous eyes.

“Do you even know what the situation is like?”

“I know.”

Azela laughed as she spat the saliva that tasted like blood into her side.

Perhaps her battered face was collapsing, it hurt though she didn’t show it. Cold sweat dripped from her forehead as the pain clamored through her body. A scream was about to come out of her parted lips, but she swallowed it.

“This is the situation.”

Now, when the assassin was caught off guard, it was an opportunity.

With her right hand, Azela drew the small dagger from the assassin’s waistband. Then, holding it tightly, she scratched his left eye.

“Uwaaaahhh…!!”

The assassin let out a loud roar as he covered the wound with both hands. Azela, unable to move any longer, smiled brightly at his eye that was dripping with blood.

“You shouldn’t have looked at me lightly.”

The pronunciation was slurred, thanks to her hurt face, but she smiled brightly, forgetting her pain.

“This… this b*tch!”

The scratch must have made him unable to properly open his injured left eye as the bloody assassin’s face was red with shame.

The next moment, he raised his fist high again and hit her smiling face. Wham, the dull sound echoed through the garden again. His initial composure was gone, and he continued to hit Azela’s face, wanting to kill her.

‘I might really die.’

It was one-sided.

The green garden was stained with red blood.

Azela, who had no strength to resist anymore, was on the verge of fainting. She really thought that if she got hit a few more times, she might die. Still, although the words to tell him to stop got to her throat, she swallowed them with another gulp at her pride, not wanting to beg for life.

“I think your wish is to die…”

The assassin crumpled his face, seeing Azela, who didn’t make a single sound even when her eyes swelled, and her lips burst with blood gushed out. He then raised his hands and squeezed her neck tightly.

“Then, I will kill you.”

As he tightened his grip on her neck, her breath was caught in her throat as his hand gripped her neck.

“Kuohk.”

She couldn’t breathe.

A strange sound escaped from the inside of her throat through her parted lips. Her face was hot and red, as if all the blood had been pumped into it. It was a different pain from being cut by the sword.

Azela raised her right hand and scratched the back of the assassin’s hand as he strangled her. He gave a satisfied smile at the reaction so intense that he wondered if she might break her fingernails from scratching so hard.

“Ha, hahaha! As expected, stabbing to death with a sword is not my style… Yes, this is it…!”

“Ko…kohk.”

Azela’s legs struggled to survive.

She would rather be stabbed with a sword and die at once. The pain as her breath gradually ceased was so painful.

As saliva trickled down her parted lips, she didn’t feel the pain from her back being rubbed against the ground, nor the pain of her left shoulder or the back of her hand from being stabbed by the sword anymore.
