Chapter 10: Chapter 3 -First Job- 1-4

Suddenly, there was a huge shock.

The light that illuminated the darkness reflected the dust smoke. I didn’t know what happened. However, beyond the smoke, I could make out a giant silhouette. Immediately, I knew that the monster was different from the ones I had fought before.

The large cloud of dust was swept away by the monster’s long, thick, limbs.

Soon, the monster itself came into view.

The tips of its feet were shaped like a spear, and the teeth protruding from its mouth resembled crab scissors.

It had four pair of eyes. Its distorted, black and purple, arabesque body was covered with a thorny outer shell. Underneath that, eight sharp feet could be seen.

Shin drew his dagger and rushed towards the giant spider’s left leg, while Kay aimed for the right leg.

“Everyone, it’s alright! Don’t get intimidated by its size! Focus on its movement! As long as you don’t get it, it’s an insignificant attack! The vanguard must never be cowardly! The moment it sensed your fear, it’ll immediately lock on to you! As planned, Kaito’s team will be in charge of the left flank, and Naoto’s team will follow suit! When you’re ready to switch position, report to me!”

“Roger that!!”

“Understood!!”

Kakeru immediately skipped some instructions.

Then, my first raid battle against the giant spider, Lansa Aranea Regina, began in earnest.

Kakeru chopped off the spear-shaped leg in front of him.

Takara and the other archers hit the monster with a volley of arrows. In the next moment, Mina held up her staff and extended her hand forward.

“Stathim Flama!”

A red line formed a circle in a geometric pattern, before firing a ball of red flame from its center towards the giant spider.

“...It’s magic.”

Naoto, who stood next to me, whispered.

Everyone was gobsmacked.

The flame, which was far brighter than everyone’s lightings combined, illuminated the surroundings, creating a very fantastic sight.

I had witnessed magic for the first time.

I didn’t think there was anyone close to me who could really use magic.

When I saw Mina holding a cane, I wondered if she could use magic. Nevertheless, when I saw the real thing, I was still taken aback.

The moment it hit the Lansa Aranea Regina, the flying red trajectory exploded and burned.

After deflecting the foot attack, Kaito plunged his spear into the giant spider’s abdomen.
