Chapter 156: Chapter 52: Capture The Flag

A day had passed since Percy had joined the camp. The camp was in high spirits as the game at night was Capture The Flag. Everyone was excited as they would be able to fight against Rin the legend. 

Rin also realized that this would be the same Capture The Flag game from the original plot. ‘This should be interesting’ Rin thought to himself with a small smile on his lips.

He was even more excited when he heard that it was Cabin 11 (Hermes), Cabin 10 (Aphrodite), Cabin 7 (Apollo). Meaning he would have to go against Cabin 1 (Zeus), Cabin 5 (Ares), Cabin 6 (Athena), Cabin 9 (Hephaestus). He also told Percy and Luke to join the other team instead for this game so he would be able to go against Luke, Thalia, Percy and Annabeth all together. Chiron at first was against it but remembered that Rin was a one man army and was still undefeated.

Annabeth on the other hand had called Thalia, Luke, and Percy. She was making a strategy on how to beat Rin for the first time. They all then agreed to follow the plan and would win.

Night soon came around and everyone went to the arena to get ready for the game. Rin was on the Blue team while everyone else was on the Red team. The Red team was excited as they thought they had a chance to beat Rin with Annabeth’s plan. 

Rin was playing defense and the rest of the Hermes cabin was going on the offensive. Though to his surprise nobody except 5 people. 4 of them walked up with their respective weapons in hand. Thalia with Tempest Gale, Luke with a golden short-sword, Percy with Riptide uncapped, and Clarisse with an electric spear and a small shield in her other hand. Rin could sense Annabeth sneaking past him but did nothing to stop her. He just smiles at the four in front and pulls out a wooden sword from his inventory. Thalia and Luke realized that Rin was somewhat taking this seriously as he never used any sort of weapon against any of the campers. Percy and Clarisse on the other hand were pissed as they thought Rin was looking down on them.

Percy rushed with his sword swinging wildly, showing his inexperience with swords. Clarisse had moved to Rin’s right and swept her spear at his feet trying to make him fall. Rin just slightly stepped back which caused Percy’s sword to miss him by a hair and Clarisse’s spear missed both of his legs. Thalia just shook her head at how they just rushed in without a plan. Rin then used the but of the sword to hit Riptide out of Percy’s hand and grabbed it with his other. Then in the next second Rin spun around while lowering his body using Riptide. Clarisse was forced to retreat, Percy on the other hand tried to dodge it by stepping back but somehow tripped on air and fell.

Rin just smiled at their reaction, he even almost laughed at Percy falling. He then looked at Riptide before remembering a little ability about Riptide and wanting to see if it actually works. He held Riptide like a spear and aimed towards the sky and threw it miles away. “Hey why did you throw my sword?!?!” Percy yelled at him. Rin just smiles as he can already sense Riptide disappearing from his spot miles away and appearing in its pen form in Percy’s pocket. “Check your pocket,” Rin said to Percy. Percy slowly reached for his pocket and soon pulled out a pen. Everyone else was confused but Percy was just astonished. “How did it get here?” Percy asked. “Did you not know it returns to your pocket if it gets far enough?” Rin asked Percy. Percy just embarrassedly shook his head. 

He then uncapped the sword which made it turn into its sword form. Everyone then realized that the pen was Riptide all along. Thalia was looking at Tempest seeing if it had a feature like that. Rin saw this and smiled. “Thalia just thought of putting away Tempest and something will happen,” Rin said to her. She then closed her eyes and soon Tempest turned to mist and formed a necklace around Thalia’s neck. It was made of mist and clouds with lightning sparking from time to time inside.

She then wills the necklace to become its spear form once again. She then looks all excited at how useful the feature could be. She then remembered that they were fighting and got serious. Percy and Clarisse also realized how strong Rin really was as he never showed it unless challenged. Luke finally acted and rushed straight at Rin. Thalia followed behind him with her spear ready. Percy flanked his left while Clarisse flanked his Right. Rin did not worry and just smiled. Luke thrusted his sword at Rin but he just lightly tapped it with his sword making it move to the right making Clarisse back off or she would have gotten hurt.

Thalia, seeing this, jumped and thrusted her spear at Rin’s chest. He on the other hand just slightly moved it with his hand and it went straight to his left. Percy froze when he saw the spear going straight at him. Thalia on the other hand did not panic and quickly turned her spear into a necklace and narrowly missed skewering Percy. Rin then swiped his sword at Luke’s neck, knocking him out. Percy could only see a wooden sword hilt before being knocked unconscious. That left only Thalia and Clarisse.

Rin then started to slash at Thalia at a speed she could barely keep up with. Thalia on the other hand was trying everything to block every attack but a few were still able to go through her defenses.

Clarisse, seeing Rin’s back turned, rushed at him ready to spear through his stomach. Rin had other plans as he turned around, surprising Clarisse. He then grabbed her spear and pushed it up before kicking at her feet. Clarisse could not even react in time before she was on her back looking at the sky. Rin then used her spear and used the spear butt and hit her in the kidney. Clarisse was then on the ground gasping for air.

He then turned back to see an exhausted Thalia. “You lost, get some rest now,” Rin said before walking towards the knocked out Percy. He then grabbed Riptide and slashed his arms. Percy then woke up screaming from the pain. “What was that for?!” Percy asked. Rin just chuckles before looking at the nearby lake. “Walk in there,” Rin said. Before Percy could even reject his order, Rin already had Riptide against his neck. ‘Traitor!’ Percy thought as he looked at Riptide.

Percy got up and walked into the Lake. Percy was then surprised as the water rose up his legs and went over his arm with a cut. The cut soon healed and the water fell down. Percy also felt like he was overcharged with energy. Though what surprised him the most was how a sword technique suddenly appeared in his head.

Rin, seeing his plan working, smiled and threw Riptide towards Percy. Percy caught it and swung it like he has for his whole life. He then looked at Rin and got ready to fight. Rin also raised his sword and got ready to fight.

Percy slowly walked towards Rin with his sword ready to block any attacks. Rin just had his sword to his side and looked completely defenseless. Percy took the chance to slice at Rin’s head but Rin just stepped back narrowly dodging the blade. Though Percy was not done as he let go of his sword mid swing and swung with his left fist. Rin just moved his head to the Right. 

Rin then kicked Percy in the stomach pushing him a few feet away. Percy didn’t fall and quickly pulled out Riptide from his pocket, and uncapped it. Riptide then grew and Percy was then thinking of what he can do but shook his head. “I give up,” Percy said decisively. Rin was slightly surprised but knew why he gave up as he sensed Annabeth near her home base with his team's flag.

Rin just disappears and appears right next to the trees around the red team's base. “Hope I bought enough time,” Percy thought to himself as he sat down on the ground slightly exhausted as he was now out of the water.

Rin was waiting for Annabeth to soon appear from his base's direction. He soon saw Annabeth running towards her base. Rin was about to stop her but then remembered her plan. ‘She deserves this one’ Rin thought as he did nothing and saw Annabeth make it into her base, winning the game. 

A horn soon sounded off in the background. “The Red Team has woooooooon!!!!!” Chiron said loudly. Many of Rin’s team was confused on how Rin had lost but then they saw who had retrieved the flag and saw it was Annabeth. Everyone then realized that Rin must have gone easy on his lover. Annabeth on the other hand saw Rin in the tree and saw him with a smile and a thumbs up. Rin then jumps down and starts to walk towards Annabeth.

The crowd around Annabeth parts, letting Rin pass right through. Annabeth then walks up to him and hugs him. “You had an amazing strategy,” Rin praised. Annabeth smiles happily and enjoys the warmth from the hug. 

Though what none of them knew was that in the throne room of Olympus was a thief with a Lightning bolt in one hand and a shadowy helmet in the other. This thief had blond hair, his right eye was blue but the unique thing about him was his left eye had a scar over it and was gold instead of blue. Though that soon changed as both eyes turned black.

“Have you done your job?” a dark voice asked menacingly. The thief could only nod. “Good, after you pass the items to our partner you will be able to spend a day with your lover,” The sinister voice said. “You did not hurt her right?” The thief said very worried about his lover. “She won’t be harmed as long as you finish the jobs I give you,” the sinister voice answered. The thief then went to meet the said partner. 

Sorry for the late updates, but I have just been playing on where I want to take the story.
