Purple light gleams from the chest.

"Epic?" I mumble.

The light shoots into my brain images of movements and bits of knowledge flash in my mind, engraving themselves into my memory.

"Ngh..." an irritating headache follows but I'm used to it now.

Spear Art obtained:

Reiti of Wind(Epic)

--------------------

...

I sigh in disappointment. My luck ran out. I was excited but I don't need a spear art.

Reiti of Wind is a close combat battle technique that utilizes speed. Thus, focusing on footwork rather than the thrusting or cutting of a spear.

Maybe...I can edit the footwork to fit a sword or a dagger.

As for the gear chest, let's open it later...

"Hahhh..." I yawn. I feel increasingly lethargic.

I lay my back on the bed and lights out. Ironically, with all the mental fatigue building up, it was one of the most blissful sleep I had since coming to this world.

==================================

News of the demon's attack spread across the three human kingdoms. Many citizens, merchants, and travellers rapidly leave Elvis and escape to neighbouring kingdoms.

With increasing invasions all around Elvis, the demand for war supplies rose. Many problems arise. Imports are directly cut as no people want to travel to Elvis, and Elvis has a lack of resources and manpower. Inflation within the country spikes. Business fell, citizens retrenched. The collateral damage snowballs into an avalanche of problems.

It became compulsory for men to fight in the frontline yet many lost every motivation and will to defend their country. They are reminded of The Hero's defeat and convinced the end is nigh. They want to live. Most humans do. Due to a lack of manpower, security is lax. At the borders between Elvis and Kistan, many managed to sneak past security checks without paying the high toll fee and appropriate documents.

The capital, a once light-hearted place called Jinka, has a constant anxious atmosphere hanging in the air. No more are the days of children running around. Everyone hides in their home.

In that period, the number of demon cultists exponentially surge.

Among every people, the ones at the frontline suffer the most. Lack of food, water, shelter, medication, and weapons are only a fraction of many varieties.

In the far east of Jinka, the capital, is the large city of Ikas and a complete war zone. Rena is in command of her knights along with 10000 soldiers of Ikas.

There are many other leaders like Rena commanding groups of similar size. The one that oversees the entire army is a large blind man with scars across his eye. Utilizing mana, his sense of touch and hearing amplified to make up for his sight.

Bald and with a beard, his frightening physique threatens any small fry.

He is an old-timer warrior named Marte.

The demons have invaded from three corners, attempting to split their forces before the main attackers charge in.

They collaborated with beastmen and monsters to effectively overpower humans.

A bull with the body of a muscular man holding an axe rides on a wolf. The beastman charges at Rena with his axe high up.

Rena grips her sword tightly at her waist. One line of blood appears.

"Ugh?" the beastman mumbles. Rena's sword teleports above her head. From the waist to his shoulder, a stream of blood explodes separating the beastman's torso from his legs; The wolf's head splits into two.

"Follow my lead! We must never let them break through!" Rena shouts and punches her sword into the sky.

"JAGEN!" The thousands of roars befall.

An army of demons alongside beasts, monsters, and beastman charge at the city.

The vanguard consists of paladins, swordsmen, and mercenaries, and the advancing party form a "V" formation with Rena at the tip. It aims to protect the backline and promotes communication. The second line of infantry holds a similar formation behind the main and the cycle repeats until it becomes a circle formation guarding the ranged allies.

"Hah!"

*CHING!!*

The sound of metal reverberates. Rena decapitates a beastman before swooping in for a thrust through a demon's chest. Without pulling out, mana seeps through the sword and she pushes the sword up, slicing through the corpse into a crimson gore fountain.

A warrior deflects a beastman's blow and tries to kill it. However, a wolf ambushes and pounces on the warrior.

?!

His entire body falls to the ground. His sword is too long to counterattack the wolf. The wolf goes in for a bite in the warrior's neck.

*CRUNCH!*

"ARGHHH!!!"

The wolf pulls the meat off bit by bit and chews. The warrior convulses, a third of his neck gone and a river of blood spills.

Then, the beastman plunge his sword to finish the kill.

*Tzh*

Suddenly, sparks of mana light.

*BOOM!*

Rena leaps with a powerful force zooming through a line of enemies. A single thread of blood beautifully forms across before it bursts.

She focuses most of her power on her legs and jumps zigzag across the hordes of invaders, killing everything on her way. In the end, she makes use of her momentum and springs high.

"Wha-" a demon says, looking up.

The enemies stare at the tiny dot in awe. "How the hell can she jump so high?" is the question going through everyone's mind.

Once the tiny dot starts to enlarge, everyone runs for their life.

Rena falls as a meteor with her sword up high, lighting discharge above the sword, creating webs of thunder.

"DIE!" She shouts and slams into the ground.

*BOOOOOOOM!*

"AHHHHHH!!!" Different death cries ring.

Aside from the powerful impact, electricity spreads rapidly among the enemy and breaks their formation.

The dust clears up; A large crater and piles of gore remain. Rena's body glows vigorously with golden azure mana.

"Huff huff..." sweat drips off her gleaming skin.

She pulls her fringe to the side. Most of her enemies are avoiding her.

One thing after another, a low deep sound echoes.

"hhmmmmmmmmmmmm"

It's the sound of a war horn. The main army is here.

"Huff...fucking...huff...huff..." Rena mumbles.

She runs back to her subordinates and says "Heed my order! Change to formation A! Slowly retreat and give time for the wounded casualties to be brought to the healers!"

"Yes!"

From a "V", the formation subsides into a semi-circle.

*Thump thump thump thump*

An army of footsteps marches towards Ikas. Alas, Demons riding Skunge storms towards the wall, a four-legged creature with light body weight and flexible bone structure that maximize aerodynamics. The Skunge has two heads, one at the front and one at the back, attached by a tail. The head is a sharp pointy hard mass, thus, increasing Skunge's velocity and giving it a powerful tail attack.

Rena looks back and attempts to find Marte for further orders.

"Huh?" Rena mumbles.

Her eyes dart everywhere but Marte is nowhere to be seen. "Where the fuck..."
