“OK…”

Inside a very ordinary student dormitory, a girl named Sylvia tied her long silver hair into twintails. Then, she stood in front of the room’s only dressing mirror and carefully looked herself up and down. After a while, she sighed, barely satisfied with her attire.

“Oh? What’s gotten into you today, Sylvia? Are you trying to switch to the innocent route?”

The beds in this dormitory were all bunk beds. The upper bunk was a normal bed, while the lower bunk was a desk. This dormitory had four bunk beds, and all four had owners. Aside from Sylvia, the other three occupants of the room remained in bed as they didn’t usually wake up at such an early hour.

However, the noise Sylvia made when getting dressed had woken them up, so they all poked their heads out of their beds and poked fun at Sylvia as they watched their roommate dressing up. All four residents of this dormitory were gyarus. So, when the others saw Sylvia suddenly dressing in such an upright manner, they couldn’t help but be surprised.

“I have some proper business to deal with today, so I can’t wear my usual clothes,” Sylvia responded grumpily. When she looked in the mirror and saw herself dressed decently, she couldn’t help but shake her head helplessly. She disliked dressing like this, but the client had asked her to head to the meeting venue wearing twintails. So, she had spent some time fixing her attire to match her hairstyle.

Her mission today was of utmost importance, so to ensure that she met with her client, she had to tie her hair into twintails even if she was reluctant to do so. However, she also refused to leave home looking like a clown. So, to ensure that she had enough time to get dressed, she had no choice but to get up early and get ready in advance.

Although the three other occupants of this dormitory were gyarus like herself, she was different because she wasn’t just an ordinary student. Instead, she also worked as a thief. Moreover, she wasn’t just any ordinary thief but a thief working directly under Lilith Doyle, the Rhine Kingdom’s princess. She was even the leader of one of the thief gangs working under Lilith.

In regards to Princess Lilith, Sylvia had always held considerable respect for the other party. As someone who had helped Lilith in many investigations, Sylvia got to learn about what kind of person Lilith was. Despite not having any succession rights to the Rhine Kingdom, Lilith still constantly tried to eliminate the dangerous factors threatening the Rhine Kingdom.

Throughout her career as a thief, Sylvia had helped Lilith investigate many evildoers trying to harm the Rhine Kingdom. Meanwhile, the target they were currently investigating was seemingly a big fish. This fish was so big that it was actually trying to involve the demons in the Rhine Kingdom’s royal succession.

Unfortunately, their opponent this time was surprisingly skilled at hiding. Even after the thieves under Lilith had worked hard for several months, they failed to obtain any useful information.

Worse yet, it would seem that their investigations had alerted their opponent as someone had set their sights on Lilith. Specifically, someone had commissioned the Thieves Guild to investigate Lilith. This situation instantly raised the alarm bells in Sylvia’s head.

Fortunately, the commission to investigate Lilith coincidentally fell into Sylvia’s hands. Sylvia had also accepted the commission without hesitation. Of course, she wouldn’t actually reveal any of Lilith’s information to the client. She was simply trying to find out who was trying to investigate Lilith.

Come. Let me see who is trying to get at Her Highness…

Normally, Sylvia looked and behaved like a misfit in the eyes of others. Her disposition to look down on weaklings also didn’t serve to help her image. However, Sylvia would never back down when it came to matters involving Lilith.

Although her appointment with the client was set during class, Sylvia didn’t have any problems with it since skipping class was a common occurrence for her. Although she was a student, her school didn’t have strict rules like the Royal Magic Tower. The teachers in her school did not dare to meddle in her affairs.

Icarus City’s Rosemary Bar wasn’t a well-known bar. Although Sylvia had spent most of yesterday looking into the bar’s regulars hoping to find some clues, she failed to find anything useful.

—After all, the Rosemary Bar was a venue Alice had chosen randomly. She had never visited the bar before, so it was natural that Sylvia’s investigation into the bar wouldn’t yield any useful results.

Regardless, Sylvia entered the Rosemary Bar with a cautious mind.

Currently, several middle-aged men were sitting in the bar drinking. When Sylvia entered the establishment, these men all turned to look at her simultaneously before quickly turning away timidly.

Obviously, even though this group of depressed middle-aged men was interested in beautiful young girls, they knew Sylvia wasn’t someone they could casually mess around with. Although Sylvia was dressed conservatively right now, her makeup instantly gave her away as a gyaru.

“Tsk.”

Sylvia clicked her tongue after glancing at these middle-aged men. She did not hold any good feelings for such weak individuals. It would also seem that none of these middle-aged men was the target she was looking for.

Since the client wasn’t in the main hall, the other party should be in one of the bar’s private rooms. So, Sylvia approached the front desk, looked at the waitress standing behind the desk, and asked:

“Is there a customer in one of your private rooms waiting for someone?”

“Ah, yes, there is. Are you the person she is waiting for?” After the waitress recovered from her brief surprise, her gaze stopped on Sylvia’s twintails for a moment before she nodded to Sylvia’s question. “It seems you are. Please follow me, then. I will take you to her.”

When Sylvia saw the waitress’s reaction, she knew she had entered the right place. The waitress had very clearly looked at her hairstyle just now. Meanwhile, the client of the commission had designated twintails as the method of identification for them.

Sylvia honestly found this request a little irksome. Of course, that wasn’t to say that she disliked this hairstyle. It was just that this hairstyle reminded her of Lilith, the person she respected. Seeing as the client was not only trying to investigate Lilith, Sylvia couldn’t help but think that the client had put in this request on purpose.

Just wait. I’m going to teach you a lesson once I meet you.

After following the waitress to the back of the establishment, Sylvia watched as the waitress opened the door to a room and entered it. Then, Sylvia entered the room and closed the door on her way in.

However, after closing the door, Sylvia quickly noticed something was amiss. Specifically, the lights in the room were off, and it did not seem like anyone was in the room before she and the waitress entered it.

“What’s going on? Did you bring me to the wrong room?”

Sylvia frowned as she looked at the short figure before her, finding the quality of the bar’s staff wanting. Meanwhile, in response to her question, the waitress suddenly turned around and raised her head, revealing the blonde bangs under the waitress’s hat she wore. Immediately afterward, Sylvia felt a large amount of mana surging into her brain.
