“Huh? What did you just say?”

Morgan widened her eyes in confusion after hearing Sylvana’s words. The said elf girl’s face gradually turned pale, as loud steps were heard coming closer to the shack.

“Why are you this scared just because of some random goblin?”

“No, you just have no idea what you’re up against!”

“... Haaah…”

Morgan sighed and approached the entrance, shoved her head, and what she saw in front of her was nothing like the goblins she knew about. She quickly retracted her head back and jumped backwards.

Fuck! What the hell was that even!?

Slowly, the figure she had seen a moment earlier unveiled the dirty curtains and revealed its terrible appearance.

“Grrrraaaaaaaaaaaaaaaakk…!!”

The goblin chief was nowhere near a small child in terms of its height. In fact, it was almost 2 meters tall and had an extremely muscular figure. It was wearing a jet black robe and a headdress made of bones and feathers, indicating that it was somewhat special among the other goblins. Its turquoise skin was glistening with sweat, while its yellow slit eyes glanced all over and in almost no time, its gaze was fixed on Morgan who was crouching like a feral animal.

[Careful, Morgan! This guy is dangerous!]

Without you telling me I already knew this guy is bad news!

Every single fiber and nerve in Morgan’s body told her to flee from that place, leaving the elf girl and the other women in the goblins’ care once again. Her stomach acted up once again, as she gradually felt the nauseous sensation in her stomach grow stronger. But the thought of herself losing her prey scared Morgan more than even the huge figure standing in front of her. Morgan then glanced at the elf girl’s direction and spotted that the elf girl was completely overcome by her own fear.

“Tsk! Useless garbage!”

Morgan slid over to the elf girl and slapped her.

“Get your shit together! Where’s your resolve earlier gone!?”

The elf girl, Sylvana, only trembled and curled up in fear.

“Gyaaaaaaagagagaga!”

Morgan turned her head and saw the goblin chief laugh maniacally. Inside her head, she was fascinated and disturbed at the same time. The nauseous feeling in her stomach grew stronger over time, and it pushed her mental fortitude to the limits rather quickly.

This guy…! It can understand feelings and emotions!?

The goblin chief grinned and reached for its huge club hanging on its back. Even its weapon looked completely different to normal goblins’. All goblins that Morgan had encountered before wielded a simple and crude looking club made of dried wood, but the goblin chief’s club wasn’t like that. Simply put, it was more suitable to call it a bludgeon instead of a club.

Where the hell did it get that from!?

Such thought was in Morgan’s head the entire time. But one thing for sure, she clearly saw that the goblin chief was already swinging its huge club while making swish and swoosh sounds. Her heart of steel began to ring an alarming notice to her.

I need to run

Without thinking twice, Morgan side-stepped and with swift movements, she barely avoided the club by a hairbreadth. The wind force that came from the club’s swing touched her buck naked body, and when the club made contact with the ground, it created a loud thud as well as a tiny crater below it. The ground shook a little, rendering Morgan’s heart drowning in an emotion called fear she thought she had already lost since she came to that world.

Holy shit! I’ll be minced meat if I get hit by that! Even the wind pressure is this strong!

Morgan rolled her body away on the ground to distance herself from the goblin chief and grabbed the rope that had been used to tie the women earlier. Although Morgan herself knew that she had to run, the thrill and joy of fighting something strong tickled her heart. Unconsciously, she was grinning from ear to ear, showing a nasty smile a crazed battle maniac would have.

[Morgan, I know you want to let yourself loose freely, but this isn’t the time for that. You must run, now!]

As if knowing what Morgan was actually feeling, Cthylla shrieked in Morgan’s head, waking Morgan up from her boiling blood thirsty for a bloodbath. Knowing that she was controlled by her emotion, Morgan quickly brushed it off by shaking her head and began to look for a way out. Her eyes were glancing all over the place in search of any kind of thing she could use. A moment later, her eyes were fixated on the women who were crying and curling up near the elf girl behind the goblin chief.

“Philargyria!”

Morgan shouted and immediately, 4 black tentacles emerged from her shadow, pursued the standing still goblin chief, and grabbed its feet. The goblin chief only snorted and pulled the tentacles with brute force and one by one, the tentacles dispersed like a squeezed lemon. Seeing that as a chance, Morgan quickly leaped between the goblin chief’s feet and pulled one of the women as hard as she could.

“I’m sorry. You’ll have to be the bait.”

Morgan whispered as she wrapped her arm on the woman’s hip.

“Eh…!?”

Without hesitating, Morgan then pushed the woman to the goblin chief and with a single swing from its club, the goblin chief squashed the woman’s body into the ground, leaving nothing but a lump of bones and flesh. Blood was scattered all over the place.

“You fell for it!”

Morgan thrusted her body forward and reached her hand on the lump, grabbed everything she could, and threw it to the goblin chief’s face. The mixture of blood and flesh quickly flew towards the goblin chief’s eyes and successfully covered its both eyes, rendering it unable to perceive things around. Morgan then rushed towards the goblin chief while it was wiping its face frantically.

“Fuck you and all your brethren!”

Morgan mounted its shoulder and stabbed her fingers into the chief goblin’s left eye socket.

“Graaaaaaaaaaaaaghhh!!”

A monstrous roar came out from its mouth as it began to swing its club wildly. It then hit the women, except the fortunate elf girl, and turned their body into literal meat and bone juices. Not stopping only on that, Morgan brandished her fangs and took a big bite on the goblin chief’s right ear, ripping it off crudely. Morgan then jumped down and pulled the only surviving woman, the elf girl, piggybacked her using the rope, and started running like a wild animal.

“You come with me!”

Morgan rushed towards the exit and what she saw on the outside was a swarm of hundreds of goblins.

“Tsk. One after another… Philargyria!”

Countless black tentacles, again, emerged from her shadow and sliced as many goblins as they could along the way. Once Morgan and the elf girl on her back reached the gate, Morgan dashed and her figure quickly vanished in the distance.

Meanwhile, inside the Adventurer Guild’s building.

“What did you say!? Morgan took the goblin subjugation quest all alone!?”

Diana slammed the receptionist’s desk while raising her voice. All the adventurers inside the building began to turn their heads to her direction. Realizing she just made an unnecessary commotion, Diana cleared her throat and repeated her question softly.

“Did that girl, Morgan, really take the goblin subjugation quest all alone?”

“Y-Yes, Guild Master. I was the one who recommended it to her.”

The receptionist, Irina, was sweating profusely, while in fact she really didn’t know the reason why Diana was so mad about Morgan taking an F ranked quest.

“Oh my gosh…”

Diana facepalmed and rubbed her temples. Her slightly red eyes teared up a little.

“Um… Guild Master, is there any problem with that quest?”

Diana didn’t immediately give her response. Instead, she sat on the chair and made a terrible expression on her face.

“You see, a report from the scouts just came earlier…”

“A report?”

The silver haired girl then reached her pocket and took out a rolled piece of paper tied with a small thread. She handed it over to Irina who was still dubious.

“Read it and you’ll know why I’m stressed out right now.

Irina quickly opened the letter and started to read its content. A moment later, her eyes began to widen as her mouth gaped open.

“W-What the heck is this!?”

Even without looking at the content, all adventurers who were looking at Diana and Irina’s interaction knew that something was wrong. It then was strengthened by Irina throwing the letter to the desk in front of her. She then started to cry.

“No… What have I done!? This can’t be happening…”

Irina covered her face with her palms as she sobbed heavily.

“It can’t be helped. You just didn’t know about it. Sorry for slamming the desk and yelling at you.”

Diana rose from the chair and turned her body away.

“Go rest a little bit. I’ll inform the adventurers.”

Diana then walked towards the gathered adventurers and approached the podium. All of them were making grim faces, especially the bulky adventurers who had dragged Morgan the night before. When Diana arrived at the podium, she opened her mouth.

“Attention, please! I have something to inform you guys!”

With a loud and stern tone, Diana shouted at the adventurers in front of her. The adventurers, in response, quickly approached Diana and put their ears up.

“A report from the scouts just came earlier today. Yesterday, the scouts confirmed that there was a goblin village near the south gate of Agate. The numbers are approximately more than a hundred.”

Diana heaved a sigh before continuing her announcement.

“Haaah… There was also a sighting of a Goblin Champion in that village.”

“What!?”

“Seriously? An A-ranked monster near the city!?”

“No, no, no! The slave kid took the quest!”

“Damn it! Just right after I thought I could buy her a meal when she comes back!”

A lot of responses came out from the adventurers. Diana, on the other hand, clapped her hands and it instantly silenced all the noise.

“And as you already know, Morgan, the slave girl who had just become one of us this morning, took the goblin subjugation quest without knowing anything.”

Diana pulled one of her twin swords and raised it up.

“You all know what we’re going to do! Would you let one of our family be fallen victim to that? The answer is no! We shall come to her rescue as soon as possible, as well as kill the Goblin Champion!”

“Hurrraaaaaaaahh!!”

In unison, the adventurers, regardless of genders, ranks, and ages, raised their respective weapons and roared loudly. The air was shaking due to how loud their shout was.

“Comrade! Follow me! For the glory of Vanaris!”

“For the glory of Vanaris!”

Diana rushed towards the door, followed by the whole Adventurer Guild behind her.

“Please be safe, Morgan. You’re too young to die like that…”

Diana clenched her fists as she walked gallantly.
