Vanaris Kingdom, a new country that was founded by King Edward around 300 years earlier. The King was known as a tyrant to the neighboring countries, as he invaded other territories. He justified himself by saying, “I’m doing it for my people. For the glory of Vanaris!”

The Kingdom’s victories in wars made it the mightiest country in the entire continent. But after the King passed away after he was rotting away on his deathbed, his successor claimed that the Vanaris Kingdom would never invade the neighboring countries ever again. It was proved by the next successor, King William, who returned the invaded territories to where they should belong. He also made a pact with other countries to work together for prosperity.

That was the brief history of the kingdom where Morgan was reincarnated to. Ruled by the Veyron Household, the Port City of Agate, was one of the most influential regions that supported the kingdom’s income by exporting marine resources..

“Ugh… Why does it have to be in winter…?”

Morgan strolled through the dark alley near the hangar where she temporarily resided. It was still in the middle of the night and most of the buildings were dark. It was easy to understand that she was feeling cold, judging by the way she walked slowly while wrapping her arms on her own body. She was still wearing the same dirty cloth since she decided not to ever touch Alfred’s belongings.

Morgan turned her glance to the pouch she was holding, and assured herself.

“I really don't want to use his belongings, but money is still money… Ugh… Now I feel like those hypocritical bastards…”

After walking for around 10 minutes, she spotted a dim-lit building 100 meters ahead. People were seen going in and out from that place, and every single one of them was holding on to a coin pouch after leaving the place. Morgan squinted her eyes to read the place’s name.

“The Adventurer Guild…”

Unconsciously, she whispered the name. Indeed, the place she was looking at was the famous Adventurer Guild she heard from Herman.

“Might as well go there… Maybe I’ll get some useful information…”

Her past life as an informant seemed to be engraved deeply into her way of thinking. She hurriedly aimed for that place, and when she arrived, a girl around her age forced her way through and nudged Morgan who was still mustering courage to enter the place. A pair of thin swords could be seen hanging from her torso.

“Whoops, sorry! I’m in a hurry!”

The girl stopped for a brief moment to look at Morgan, and after she looked at Morgan’s left arm, she frowned her eyebrows and uttered.

“What is a slave doing here? Are you perhaps running an errand?”

The girl questioned Morgan, who was still confused on how to reply.

“Seriously, people nowadays! They always make slaves do things they don’t want to! Hey, what’s your name?”

A slight hatred reflected in the girl’s words. But she quickly changed her expression and, in a friendly tone, questioned Morgan again.

“... I’m Morgan…”

“Morgan, huh? Quite a unique name for a slave. Oh, you can call me Diana. Just Diana.”

The girl, Diana, extended her hand to shake. Her friendly attitude put Morgan’s heart a little bit at ease. She then reached for Diana’s hand and shook it gently.

“Hmm… You’re not like other slaves I encountered. Usually they would apologize non-stop… Ah, I forgot I have to turn my quest in! See you later, Morgan!”

Diana waved a little bit and hurriedly ran towards the door, swaying her silver hair that was ponytailed gently.

“What a strange girl…”

Morgan whispered softly.

“Anyway, let’s go in.”

She stepped forward and opened the door, and there, countless people were inside the huge hall full of long wooden chairs and tables. Some of the people were sitting on the chairs, while others were queuing in front of a big bulletin board near the staircase. In the corner of the hall, Morgan spotted several receptionists managing piles of papers, while sometimes serving the people that came to their desks.

“Whoa…”

Morgan let out a stupid voice from her mouth. She was amazed and dumbfounded at the same time. She knew that the world she was in was no longer the Earth she used to know, but the fact that everything derived away from her expectations rendered her speechless. When she was looking around, a receptionist spotted her and waved her hand to Morgan. Feeling welcomed, she walked towards that receptionist’s desk.

“What can I do for you?”

The receptionist smiled gently. But somehow, Morgan knew that she was only making a fake smile, as she realized almost all the receptionists there had the same expression no matter who they were dealing with, whether it was towards a man, woman, or even a bandit-looking guy at the desk next to her. The receptionists were indifferent to what the client’s background was.

“Erm… I want to register as an adventurer.”

Morgan spoke in a soft tone. She decided to act meek, just like the original Philia, to win over others’ hearts, and even though she was struggling with it, she did it with consistency in her mind.

“I see. The Adventurer Guild is always welcoming new adventurers. Please wait for a moment.”

The receptionist turned her body and rummaged through her stuff. She then took out a crystal ball that was in the size of a bowling ball and placed it on her desk.

“Please put your right hand on the ball. We will firstly identify if you have any criminal records or not.”

I’m fucked.

Morgan clearly knew she had killed two people before. Although her mind was confused like crazy, she didn’t appear to let her emotion control her facial expression. She slowly extended her hand and placed her palm on the ball. The next moment, the ball’s color turned red and the receptionist’s expression immediately changed.

“Excuse me, how old are you?”

The receptionist questioned Morgan in a cold tone, as she also grabbed Morgan’s wrist tightly. There was no sign that the receptionist would let go of her hand that easily, and if Morgan tried to attack the receptionist, the adventurers in that place wouldn’t stay still.

“I-I’m 14 years old…”

With teary eyes, Morgan tried to continue her meek act. Even then, the receptionist’s expression didn’t change. After that, the receptionist turned her head and called one of her colleagues.

“Call the Guild Master.”

“Understood.”

Her colleague quickly ran towards the staircase and went up, while the receptionist kept her grip on Morgan’s wrist.

“W-What will happen to me?”

Morgan raised a question to the receptionist but she had no intent to answer. Other adventurers, who were looking at the commotion, started to gather around the desk, and when they looked at the crystal ball, their eyes turned hostile.

“Kid, I don’t know what made you murder a person, but let me say this…”

A man with a gigantic ax on his back blurted out.

“You’re gonna have a real bad time after this.”

“Huh?”

Seriously, what’ll happen to me!?

Just a little while later, a familiar individual walked down the staircase, and directly headed to Morgan’s direction.

“Here she is, Guild Master. The crystal ball turned red as soon as she placed her palm on it. Maybe she was the one we were looking for.”

The receptionist let go of her grip, and Morgan quickly pulled her hand. In front of her, the Guild Master, or rather, the familiar individual she had just met in the front door, crossed her arms and let out an intimidating aura. Her ponytailed silver hair was the most distinguishable feature about her. She was Diana, the girl Morgan ran into before.

“So, Morgan, do you have anything to say about this?”

Morgan was speechless. Everything happened in an instant and she wasn’t given any chance to retaliate at all.

“Cat got your tongue, huh? Bring her to my office.”

Diana turned her body and walked away from that place, while two bulky adventurers grabbed her by her upper arms and dragged her towards the staircase.

“So, what happened, Morgan?”

Diana was sitting on a luxurious chair behind a large table made of polished wood across the room. Several ornamental swords were hanging on the wall, and it was easy to understand that it was definitely a room befitting for someone who had a high position in that place. The door was guarded by a bulky adventurer, one of the adventurers who dragged Morgan earlier. And sitting on the couch in front of the large table, Morgan was looking around innocently, ignoring the question that was thrown at her.

“Please, answer my question. This will take longer if you don’t want to cooperate.”

“I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

Morgan half-heartedly gave a brief answer. Although she looked carefree and ignorant, his brain was working so hard to think of a way to escape that place. But her thinking was disrupted by a slam on the table.

“Answer my question! Stop dawdling innocently! I know you murdered someone!”

Diana lost her temper, just as the same when she slammed the table while in front of the Princess the day before.

Oh, she’s quite hot headed… Provocation will get her good, then

“Okay, I’ll answer your question, but on one condition…”

Morgan’s attitude really didn’t fit her physical age, and that fact made Diana think twice before agreeing to her.

“What is it?”

After hearing Diana’s response, Morgan grinned and confidently said her condition.

“I’ll tell you what happens if you order that guy to get out of the room.”

Morgan pointed her finger to the bulky adventurer guarding the room, trying to bait Diana.

“Did you seriously just say that, kid?! Come here, I’ll be sure to━”

“Cease it, Bernard. I’ll be fine being alone with her.”

“But Guild Master…!”

“Enough! When I tell you I’ll be okay, then I’ll be okay!”

Diana threw a sharp glance to the adventurer.

“Ugh… Understood, Guild Master. I’ll guard from outside the room…”

Morgan could see the dejected feeling of the adventurer, and whistled to muddy the atmosphere.

“Phweeeet… Bye-bye, poor guy!”

The adventurer glanced at her, but without his superior’s consent, he couldn’t lay any finger to Morgan who behaved cockily. The adventurer went out of the room, leaving the two of them on their own.

“We’re alone. When will you start talking?”

Diana rose from her chair and approached Morgan.

You really let your guard down, huh?

Morgan smirked and began to run her venomous mouth.
