I nodded at him as he explained the rest of his day. When he was done mother had opened the door to find Dave the tax collector home. The exchanged pleasantries and mother shooed me off. When I got far enough away from them I heard noises coming from the room and ran back.

It was Dave trying to reject mother, for she was unbuttoning her top saying “I don’t have any money to pay you with just take me.” This of course was flustering Dave, but he held firm.

“Dave what’s she doing?” I asked knowing full well what she’s doing.

“Trying to pay me with things that aren’t money, but I have to give the money to the lord, so this doesn’t do anything!” he responded.

“We don’t have the money!” she insisted.

“Yes, we do,” I said as I grabbed the money from selling the pelts of the monster of the woods.

He took it and left. I looked at mother and she just squirmed there as if she was bashful. I just left the room as she kept moving. I grabbed my sister as was preparing to go to my tree house.

When we got there my sister asked what was happening and why I was mad. I then explained to her the reason for my anger.

I then looked out the window and saw people getting stuck in the traps of or backyard. The uniforms they wore suggested they were military. The uniforms they had had French insignias on them. The saw me and started to run forward while pulling up muskets. They fired, but because of their of the traps they missed whizzing past me and hitting the floor and walls.

We had to retreat to home. We couldn’t fight them. I needed more time to prepare body strengthening magic, that would make me invulnerable to their bullets.

As we ran home with men at our tails, I saw mother ushering us in bullets whizzing past her head. When we got inside the soldiers tried to bust down the door that mother had barricade, but it proved useless.

I strengthened myself with spirit magic, and old man spirit entered by body reinforcing it. Then they broke down the door and I gutted the first man then slit the next man throat. He died, and the spirit around the battle began to sing. The song was gibberish to everyone but me. It was English, and the song was like this

“Fear, fear, fear, how tasty their blood!”

“Pain, pain, pain, how fresh it is!”

“Dun, dun, dun, da dun, death comes for all!”

It repeated all, the people I killed, they sang. The saber they pulled out cut my clothes, but it did little to my skin. then I felt something come from my back. They were wings. Like week old chick’s wings. Fresh and fluffy, they sprouted from my back. And buds on my forehead. They of course were antlers and had grown to a point. I had kept the spirits in my young body for to long.

I DID NOT CARE…

These people had intruded on our home, and I kept pushing them out. Then finally I had been grabbed and had a large metal clamp put around my neck. I then watched as the soldiers that were left killed my mother and little sister as they retreated in the woods.

I blacked out from the feeling of a essence fusing with something in me.
