Then it spoke.

The voice was that of like nothing from this world he had ever heard. It sounded like a chorus of voices speaking at once.

“Hello young Gorn, I am Emner. Some people call me the blade of Emner I prefer to be called Emner.”

He was speechless. How could he react to a talking sword? Sure, there had been books that had had a premise just like that, but it was totally different than the books. The voice didn’t echo in his mind but off the walls, from everything. As one might expect that messes with one’s head.

“Your voice it hurts my head! If you could speak through her it would be better,” Ornsin said.

“Ok, I’ll speak for Emner,” said the cat girl, “see, I told you your voices hurts to hear. it’s a good thing I already broken on the inside,” she said this while looking at the sword and then saluted Ornsin. “My name is Aisling wielder of the blade of Emner.”

“Then allow me to introduce myself; my name is Ornsin, and this body’s name is Gorn. As you might expect from a 12-year-old boy forced to go through surgery his mind split. That made Gorn, Ornsin, Ren, and Nurt,” Ornsin explained.

Aisling nodded her head in understanding. She then snapped her fingers and looked at Emner, then a teacup popped into existence while in her hand. Steam rolled off of it.

This girl was getting stranger and stranger each minute.

“Now, let’s talk about why I can speak English. First, off I died from a falling tree that fell during a windy day and the local spirit sent by a god many generations back sent me into this world with a blessing. Unfortunately, that blessing made me remember my past life and now this one feels wrong. Ever so slightly disconnected,” she took in a deep breath as she had been saying that with one, “though that blessing made me into a spirit beastkin in this life and gave me power beyond normal humans,” at the end she smiled contentedly like she just won a noble prize by implementing a 100% sales tax.
