…
It was now my 3rd birthday. My birthday was late in the year so I did not have many months to celebrate this year. Winter was short in this city. Ever since the failed kidnapping event I kept going out into the woods late at night and hunting. Hunt what you may ask, well the animals I hunted were of coure the monsters of this world. Like Triggackels, they were a larger form of jackal that could innately control the wind to a small degree and could also climb trees as if they were the floor.
“Now is the time to go hunting,” I said to myself.
Of course, I had to hide this from my parents. so, I had made a little tree house with the new neighbor kid that seemed to have a few screws loose. His name was Graiger. He wasn’t a cat beastkin or any other beast beastkin for the matter, he was human.
I ran to the new little house in the tree that Graiger was already in. he was around 6 years old. He was sitting in the chair and whittling with the knife his dad had made for him, for his dad was a blacksmith. When he heard me climbing up the rope ladder, he looked at me with his strange looking smile.
“Morning,” he said.
I nodded back in recognition. He went back to whittling and I looked at what he was making. He seemed to notice my look and showed it to me. It was an carving of his deceased mother. She had been killed in there home country of Bellia, which persecuted people who worshipped this world’s Jesus.
“What are we doing today?” he asked.
I then pointed to the dried and drying jerky or the wall. He shook his head at this and spoke
“We should play hero and saint”
