Billy O' Hearties was man of the sea,
sailing the waves, drunken and free.
He was a captain with his old crew,
sailing to plunder, to drink and to brew.
His glance was so pure, by kindness aglow,
there were no kings for whom he would bow.
His black beard waved on the wind,
But now it's ashen gray,
tho' age has got him in it's grasp,
He still lives by his way.
He was not a married man,
nor will he ever be,
From all the pretty girls at bay,
his lady was the sea.
She is a queen, a majesty
of every man that's free,
To her he keeps his loyalty
and forever loyal he will be.
He never plundered a boat or ship,
that belonged to sailors poor,
But he was a scourge of those that think
