He was genuinely indulgent of her to a degree far beyond human measure. There was only one condition. She must be his!
Si Mobai looked at Feng Tianlan, who had turned as pale as a piece of paper. Deep down, he sighed, but on the surface, he hid away the tenderness. He stated coldly, “Apart from turning me down or leaving me, I will honor your wishes above mine for a lot of things.”
He must have scared her.
However, this was who he had always been. He had been this kind of man before she’d come into his life. In fact, he used to be scarier. In front of her, he still honored a bottom line. So long as she stayed clear of it, this was the most he could do. However, she crossed that line. Even he was unaware of the monster he could become.
After a long while, Feng Tianlan finally snapped back to reality, waking from his icy gaze. She looked at the room’s simple furnishings. Si Mobai was long gone. Even the slight minty fragrance that lingered in the air had drifted out the window, vanishing on the wintry winds.
Unsettled and confused, thousands of thoughts ran through Feng Tianlan’s mind. She laid on the bed and stared at the silken veil above her. Her mind was heavy with chaotic thoughts, thinking about nothing and everything. Finally, fatigue caught up with her. She closed her eyes and fell deep into sleep.
Suddenly, a sharp wind brushed by her ears and scraped her cheeks. Even under the cotton cloth, she could feel her face burning. Someone held her tightly against their chest. The strong, pungent odor of blood reached her nose.
Who is it?
Who is carrying her while running away?
Feng Tianlan tried to look up and see who the mysterious man was, but alas, she could only make out a blood-stained chin. Drip after drip, blood splattered on her face. She could almost feel its warmth, and her sight was soon stained red.
She watched the man’s chin move up and down, up and down…Obviously, he was saying something, but she could not make out a single word. His words still suffocated her, even though they were soundless.
Feng Tianlan’s gaze moved from his perfect chin to his shoulders. There were two deep holes, implying that their master’s shoulder blades had been punctured, which was equivalent to destroying his hands. How could he still run so desperately with her in his arms?
“Stop, quick! Stop.” Feng Tianlan could only feel hollowness within her. It was as if a piece of her heart had been dug out with those shoulder blades, so she screamed for him to stop.
However, the man only held her even tighter as they ran for their lives. He shielded her so well, fearing that the razor winds would injure her. It felt like when Si Mobai engulfed her in his embrace.
A drop of blood broke away from his chin and fell into her screaming mouth, sending fearful trembles through her. “Please, I beg of you. Please stop.”
She sensed that his death was assured if they did not stop. He would die, and she did not want him to. She would never want that.
She screamed till her throat burned with soreness, and tears rolled from her eyes, one drop at a time. The man’s life was withering. She begged him to stop, for them to be alive together. She would even give up being together, so long as the man was spared from death.
Finally, the man seemed to hear her pleas and halted. He buried her into his body as much as he could. She felt an unstoppable, earth-shattering spiritual force coming straight at them.
“Wu…”
Her screaming was cut off abruptly. Feng Tianlan’s beautiful eyes snapped open and saw the silken veil above. The last scene from her dream still burned in her retinas. She had been knocked down with that man. In her blurry sight, she saw a slender figure stretch out a hand, seemingly trying to save her.
She blinked, and the scene was gone. Feng Tianlan sat up, her head echoing with the great pain of a migraine. She massaged her temples and wondered, “Who is he? Who is he exactly?”
Why did she dream about him over and over? Not once had she managed to see his face. Also, what was his name? Why could she not recall anything other than a single word?
Lastly, what had happened to that man in her dreams?
His shoulder blades were punctured, and he never stopped bleeding. In the end, he was injured by their pursuer, who pushed them over a staggering height. Was he still alive?
