“They are digging their own graves,” scoffed the man who was watching Feng Tianlan and her friends from a distance. “Watch their movements at all times, then execute the plan. I want them lost and dead. They must never set foot outside the Misty Forest again. ”
Tu Xiupei’s gaze landed in Feng Tianlan’s direction. Her beautiful eyes lowered sinisterly as she imagined the tragedy that was about to play out. This tragedy would not only kill not Feng Tianlan but also many other innocent people.
“Don’t worry, Pei’er. Soon, the Misty Forest will be their grave. Nobody will guess that the assassination was our doing. No one will suspect us. This time around,” Qi Shujie wrapped his arms around Tu Xiupei and whispered, “they will be gone for good.”
He decided not to tell her about the other mission. He had deliberately left out some of the details of the massacre to protect Tu Xiupei’s innocence. Seeing how soft-hearted Tu Xiupei was, Qi Shujie feared that she wouldn’t be able to handle what he had in store for his enemies.
Feng Tianlan continued walking ahead of the pack while Azurite picked up the rare and expensive herbs that they passed by.
Lin Suyin saw Azurite dig out a distinctly silver plant with wilted leaves. She couldn’t help but ask, “Sister Feng, if my eyes do not fool me, your teammate has just dug up Moon Fairy Grass. It is a rare herb that takes centuries to mature. It is also a basic ingredient in many pills.”
How could a mere girl of Feng Tianlan’s age possibly be so well-versed in rare herbs? She wouldn’t have been taught such things at her institution, nor was this knowledge available anywhere else. Azurite intrigued her.
“Oh, really?” Feng Tianlan replied, indifferent toward Lin Suyin’s comment.
Then, they sank into an awkward silence. Lin Suyin was surprised at how unfriendly Feng Tianlan was. As fellow ladies from some of South Peace City’s most prominent families, it was best to remain friendly and build common ties. However, Feng Tianlan did not seem interested in any form of networking with her fellow socialites.
Was Feng Tianlan just looking down on her? Was it because of the Wargod?
Lin Suyin frowned as she observed Feng Tianlan. If her face was not scarred, she would definitely be one of the very few women alive who possessed such unearthly beauty. She was stunning at first sight, and all the more striking after a second look. The more one looked at her, the more one found her beautiful.
Even with her scarred face (once she’d gotten used to it), Feng Tianlan seemed to Lin Suyin to exude the demeanor of a king. Sadly, it was a quality that neither a man nor a woman could truly appreciate.
“Sister Lin, I figured that it’s just a lucky shot. How can a century-old herb be so easy to find?”
Lin Suyin glanced at her briefly and said, “I beg to differ. I can tell that she knows her herbs.”
She believed that, as long as they stayed together, they would find the spiritual grass in no time.
Luo Yunzhu picked a flower from the roadside and tucked it in her hair. Luo Yunzhu smiled warmly and said, “Miss Lin, please don’t use fall out with us. It is okay if you came here with sincere intentions. But if you have any ulterior motives, please refer to the predicament of the Tu sisters. That’s a preview of what will happen to you.”
While Lin Suyin appeared to be a nice girl, Luo Yunzhu could not shake the feeling that, somehow, she was a hypocrite.
Lin Suyin felt that the flower in her hair now weighed as much as lead. It was pressing on her skull and giving her a headache. All she could think of was how unwelcome she was in the group, and she couldn’t figure out why. Surely, she had not done anything to upset them?
The group spread out a little, and Zhang Tiancheng whispered to Luo Yunzhu, “You seem to be pitting yourself against Lin Suyin a whole lot. She did nothing wrong, you know.”
“What? Showing tenderness to girls now, eh?”
“I wouldn’t dare! I’m just confused. Besides, all I’m saying is that Miss Lin seems quite nice, doesn’t she? She wasn’t even mad after all the hostility you’ve been showing her. Also, isn’t she always singing Boss’ praises?” Instead of pity, Zhang Tiancheng felt more puzzled than anything else.
