At first, Feng Tianlan froze, then she struggled but quickly stopped. She glared at Si Mobai in anger, wanting to slap him. “Si Mobai!” she exclaimed.
“I am very clean. Someone helped wipe down my body and change my clothes,” Si Mobai replied as he leaned comfortably on the bedside, lifting his eyes to look at her.
Feng Tianlan’s anger immediately disappeared, leaving only a red flush on her face. After glaring at him, she turned to pick up the porridge on the table and said, “Eat it.”
“Feed me.”
“Feed yourself.”
Si Mobai thought about it for a while. He decided not to push her too hard, lest she became annoyed. It had not been easy for them to improve their relationship, and he could not let things worsen again due to something small like this!
Si Mobai decided to change the topic. “How long was I unconscious?” he asked.
“Seven days,” Feng Tianlan replied.
“You must be tired. Quickly, come join me and sleep awhile.” Si Mobai placed the bowl on the stool beside the bed and patted the spot next to him, signaling to Feng Tianlan to come to curl up.
Feng Tianlan pretended that she did not see. “Does anyplace on your body still feel uncomfortable?”
“I am alright. Come and sleep for a while, or you will be too tired,” Si Mobai answered and patted the spot beside him again.
“It is good that you are better. I will return to my own room to sleep, then.” Just as she turned to leave, Feng Tianlan’s wrist was pulled, and she landed on top of Si Mobai all over again. She was then lifted into the air, and he encircled her thin waist with his arms and pulled her into the bed.
Si Mobai hugged Feng Tianlan tightly and pulled the quilt over her, whispering, “Don’t move. I still have a little headache and need to sleep.”
“I can see that you are full of energy,” Feng Tianlan replied sarcastically. She moved a little, but Si Mobai was hugging her too tightly, so she had too little space in which to move.
“I must have scared you that day,” he mused. He’d fainted and was unconscious for so long. She must have been so worried.
Feng Tianlan realized that she could not break free, so she gave up the struggle and did not speak.
“Lan’er, let’s make a scar tomorrow and paste it on your face.”
Feng Tianlan frowned. “So, you don’t like my face now?”
“I like it. But before, I was the only one who liked it. Now that’s it’s flawless, many other men will like it too.” He did not want to have an increased number of rivals!
Feng Tianlan did not know what to say. Why did she feel like Si Mobai sounded as though he were being wronged?
“Lan’er, did you ask me if I like your face?” Si Mobai raised his eyebrows. He’d just noticed that she seemed to care whether he liked how she looked.
Feng Tianlan fell silent.
“You care about my opinion.”
Feng Tianlan remained silent. Hearing his joyful tone, she could not help but curve her lips into a slight smile. She had regained her beauty for him. Of course, she cared what he thought about her new looks!
“Little Lan’er, have you fallen in love with me?” Si Mobai flipped Feng Tianlan’s body around. His bright, almond-shaped eyes were full of nervousness as he carefully studied her reaction.
Feng Tianlan lifted her eyes to see the changes in emotion that Si Mobai was displaying, and a wave of peculiar feelings swept through her heart.
Still, she replied firmly, “No.”
This one simple word immediately dampened the light in Si Mobai’s bright eyes. He pursed his lips and pretended to be very confident even though he was not. “There is no rush, you will fall in love with me, sooner or later.”
“I am sleepy.” Feng Tianlan closed her eyes. She could not directly look into his gloomy, sad face anymore.
“Then sleep.” Si Mobai held onto Feng Tianlan tightly as disappointment filled his heart. He thought that she had regained her looks because of him, but in fact, she had not. She had not actually fallen in love with him.
Feng Tianlan closed her eyes and gently said, “Let’s sleep first. I will talk to you tomorrow.”
Si Mobai’s heart shook, but he gave in anyway. “Alright.”
