Feng Tianlan turned around and said coldly, “Is anything the matter?”
“What about us?”
Feng Tianlan looked at her, puzzled. “What is it?”
“The Bailan Alliance’s Honorary Guest Token.” Chen Xinlu glanced at the token in Xiao Xiao’s hand. “We all journeyed together. You’ve given one to them. What about us?”
“…”
Everyone was stunned when they heard Chen Xinlu’s words. They turned to look at her with disbelief in their eyes. Was she really begging for the Bailan Alliance’s Honorary Guest Token?
“Lu’er.” Shi Yiqing felt thoroughly embarrassed. How could she feel comfortable asking for this?
Chen Xinyi’s complexion paled, and she lowered her voice and said, “Little sister.”
On the other hand, Shi Moning didn’t say a word. He gaped at Chen Xinlu as he watched her make a fool of herself. She brazenly wanted a token. If she could get it, it’d benefit them. But if she couldn’t obtain it, she would’ve only embarrassed herself. Therefore, he simply needed to watch the show unfold to see what happened.
Feng Tianlan stared at Chen Xinlu amusedly. “You’re asking me for it?”
“Shouldn’t I be?” Chen Xinlu seemed convinced in herself. When she saw Chen Xinyi tug on her clothes as a signal to stop, she glared at her. “You useless trash. I’m asking for your sake. Don’t make trouble.”
It was fine to not be able to conquer a man, but she had actually lost to another man. Now, she even wanted to stop her from asking for the token? What was the point in keeping her pride? Was her pride worth more than the Bailan Alliance’s Honorary Guest Token?
“Why must I give one to you?” Feng Tianlan found this even more comical. She was asking for a favor and yet she’d asked for one so demandingly. This had completely refreshed her understanding of what it meant to be thick-skinned.
“We protected you from Kaiyang City all the way to Lin’an City. Even though we didn’t make any contributions or do any menial work, it’s only reasonable that you give us a token as remuneration for our services. How can you favor them and give them a token and not us?” Chen Xinlu spoke with such great conviction, as though it were completely wrong of Feng Tianlan to withhold a token from her.
Chen Xinlu interrupted Chen Xinyi’s words with a grunt. “Shut up!”
Chen Xinyi and Shi Yiqing glanced at her. They covered their faces with their hands and turned to the side, completely ashamed. They truly didn’t want to acknowledge that they knew her.
“A remuneration for protecting me all the way into the city?” Feng Tianlan found this amusing. “In Kaiyang City, who rescued you? It was us. Then, speaking of remuneration, don’t you have to pay me? Oh, and in the suburbs, we also saved you. For saving you twice, don’t you have to pay me double?”
Even though they’d been targeted because of her, she’d still rescued them, yet she wanted to ask for a reward?
Her reasoning was comical!
Chen Xinyi’s complexion gradually changed. She responded with a hint of awkwardness and guilt, “But I didn’t ask you to save me.” Hence, there was no need for them to repay her.
Feng Tianlan burst into laughter. “Let’s put aside the fact that I didn’t even ask you to escort me. However, even if I had, exactly who escorted who during this journey?”
When Chen Xinlu’s eyes fell on the Bailan Alliance Honorary Guest Token crafted from special spiritual jade, she pushed on self-righteously. “For this journey, you should give us what you gave her. Otherwise, you’re discriminating against us and showing favoritism. It’s immoral. Furthermore, we were targeted by assassins because of your man. So, you need to compensate us.”
If remuneration wasn’t possible, then the token should just be treated as a form of compensation.
“Little sister, you can’t…”
Chen Xinlu glared at her. “Shut up.” Unable to accomplish anything yet always making trouble. How dare she speak up!
“…” Mei’er and the rest were rendered speechless by her. They were completely flabbergasted by her antics and couldn’t believe that she was so brazenly seeking a favor from their savior. Was this what they called being a “white-eyed wolf?”
What’s more, they were sisters, yet why were they so completely different? Were they even biologically related?
