Chapter 3: First Experience

*CHIRP CHIRP CHIRP*

Darell opened his eyes slowly. Sunlight was coming into his room through the window.

'Ugh.....'

'Too much sunlight'

Darell got up from his bed and walked toward his bathroom. He opened the door and stopped in front of the mirror.

'WHAT THE HELL?'

'Did the system enhance my looks?'

Darell Rogers had dark black hair that flowed to his shoulders. He had azure-colored eyes. He had a lean body. But, now he had shining dark black hair with the tips of his hair being red-colored. His hair was smooth that flowed like waterfalls down to his shoulders. His eyes had a tinge of golden color among them. He had protruding muscles that looked like they were sculpted to perfection. His height had increased by a few inches and he was now 1.8 meters. He had extremely pale skin as if he had seen a ghost.

'DAMN'

Darell flexed his muscles and smiled inwardly.

'With these looks, I am bound to be in trouble.'

He quickly finished his morning bath and changed into a new pair of clothes. He rushed out of his room and glanced at the clock on the wall.

'It's only 6 in the morning. I can finish the quest quietly without anybody knowing about it.'

He sneaked out of his family's mansion and hid in one of the carriages outside of the gates.

After a few minutes, he arrived in the town of Xena. He hopped out of the carriage and put on a mask. He walked towards the only guild in the town of Xena.

This guild was called Thunderthorn. It had a platinum-ranked adventurer as its guild master.

Darell entered the building and walked toward the receptionist.

The receptionist was a beautiful woman, who had slight wrinkles on her face but she still had the youthfulness and energy that attracted people to her.

She noticed Darell wearing a mask and curiously examined him from top to bottom.

Darell noticed her gaze but didn't say anything.

"What are you here for Sir?" she asked.

Darell cleared his throat and replied in a hoarse voice.

"I want to register as an adventurer."

The lady took out a form and a crystal ball from underneath the desk.

Darell took the form and said," I am sorry but I don't want to disclose my abilities."

She nodded her head and placed the ball underneath the desk.

Darell filled out the form and paid the required amount.

She said, "This is your token as a Metal-ranked adventurer."

He took the token and went outside the building. He searched for a carriage heading towards the forest of Fyn. He hid in one of the carriages.

After a few hours, he jumped out of the carriage and ran towards the outer area of the forest.

The forest of Fyn had an outer area inhabited by rank 01 to rank 04 beasts, an inner area inhabited by rank 05 to rank 07 beasts, and a core area which was inhabited by rank 08 to rank 10 beasts.

He entered the outer area of the forest.

He searched for a few minutes and stumbled upon a bear who was busy munching on a dead animal.

Darell took this chance to launch a sneak attack and ran toward the bear.

He punched the bear as hard as he could on the back of its head. But the bear didn't receive any injury. The bear turned around and growled at him. Its skin glowed light brown and was covered by light brown-colored rocks.

Darell instantly jumped back. He looked at his hands which were bruised.

'I knew it. I can't have a fistfight with this bear' he thought.

The bear broke his train of thought and pounced at him. He raised his hands to block the bear's attack. The bear tore off his flesh from his hands and he got thrown back.

Darell spat out blood and struggled to get up.

"Cough...Cough....this guy's strength just got increased by a wide margin. I should have killed it before it transformed."

He looked around to find something to help him defend against its attacks. Just then, he remembered the system's words.

He smiled and looked at the bear who was ready to attack him once again. He dodged the attack and ran towards an area that he used to visit when he accompanied his father during the hunts.

He looked behind him and noticed the bear frantically chasing him. He smirked at the bear and ran towards one of the hidden traps. He turned towards the bear and gestured for him to come arrogantly. The bear angrily lunged at him to attack but it was too late.

*BOOM*

The bear got thrown to the side by a big log of wood that was hidden as a trap.

Darell walked towards the pitiful bear whose body was crushed.

*WHIMPER*WHIMPER*

The bear looked pitiful but Darell did not pity him. He pummeled the bear's face repeatedly until the bear stopped moving. Its face was a mess. Broken teeth and the crushed skull that had a part of its brain protruding out could make anyone throw up.

Darell looked at the mess and shouted " YES. I DID IT "

[DING]

[Quest 01 - Completed]

[Reward - 10 XP]

Darell was ecstatic over this news. He searched for the beast's core and took out a light brown colored orb.

He started to absorb it but he was interrupted by the system.

[Host does not need to absorb beast cores. The host can increase his mana by leveling up.]

'What? Then it's useless to me.'

Darell pocketed the core.

[DING]

[Quest 02 - Kill three rank 01 beasts]

[Reward - 40 XP]

Darell smiled and started searching for rank 01 beasts.

After killing another rank 01 beast, he heard a notification.

[DING]

[TOTAL XP FULL]

[WOULD YOU LIKE TO LEVEL UP]

[Y/N]

Darell was ecstatic and said "Yes"

He started feeling pain all over his body but the pain lasted for a second and vanished as if it never happened.

'Stats' Darell thought.

'Looks like my stats have doubled,' Darell smiled inwardly.

He was going to search for another rank 01 beasts when he heard a new notification.

[DING]

[Quest 03 - Reach Level 05]

[Reward - System points (unlock), Special skill - Inspect]

Darell was surprised when he looked at the reward. 

' What are these system points?'

[Stat points can be used to unlock special skills early without completing any quest.]

'Perfect' Darell grinned at this message and ran to search for the beasts.

After a few hours,

Darell was lying down on the ground gasping for breath. His hands were bruised and broken. His face was scratched and there was a vertical scar on his left cheek. But, he didn't care about his scars.

He quickly stood up and shouted "Yes"

[DING]

[Quest 03 - Completed]

Darell cheered and instantly used the skill. His eyes become blood red for a second and then returned to their original color.

'Wow, I can see the stats of everybody.' Darell thought.

Darell said" Stats"

Darell wanted to check out the new skill shop but he looked at the sky and noticed that it was evening.

He used his skill Space Arsenal to place the beast cores from his kills into his inventory and walked out of the forest.

As he reached the outermost edge of the forest, he noticed that most of his bruises and wounds have been healed and the scar on his cheek disappeared.

'System, do I have any regeneration ability?'

[You have a passive regeneration ability]

'But, why doesn't it show on my skills tab?'

[If you want to know more then you have to level up]

'Ughh...'

Darell rushed out of the forest and sneaked into one of the carriages passing by.
