Chapter 34: Ambitions

A few weeks had passed since the completion of the test. Most of the students who had passed were now seen hanging out with other such students or either second-year or third-year students.

They were treated as underlings and their job was to serve them and nothing else.

The hierarchy among students had changed and it affected the most badly. Fights often broke out, openly mocking and humiliating each other. Most of them had also resorted to bullying and extortion.

Every day someone would get beaten up while being threatened with dire consequences. The students affected had to spend a month in the medicine hall to heal their injuries.

The instructors would often apprehend a new student each day. It grew to such a state that some idiotic student threatened an instructor by telling him that he could kill them with just a simple order.

Well, that student wasn't seen anymore in the academy. Nobody cared anyway.

The instructors held a special assembly and specified the importance of controlling themselves. They also blatantly threatened them with the banishment of their families regardless of their background as it was a direct order from the king himself.

After that, the students had calmed down a bit albeit only on the surface.

While all of this was happening, Darell and his group were minding their business and they were off to do their work.

Lilith was training with Athena and they were sitting in the courtyard.

The courtyard was huge as it was 200 meters in length. It was filled with lush trees and the grass had been properly maintained.

There were four trees on each corner of the courtyard. These trees were about twenty meters tall and had distinct red-colored leaves which would mesmerize anyone looking at them for the first time.

At the center of the courtyard, there was a beautiful fountain built which depicted a stunning mermaid pouring water. A bench was also built beside the fountain.

On the bench, two individuals could be seen who were talking among themselves. One of them had breathtakingly beautiful pink hair which flew down to her waist. She had captivating hazel eyes which paired with her small, cute nose and cherry-red lips could even make a monk fail to control his lust. Her smooth tanned skin further enhanced her beauty. She wore a white dress that had a deep cut on her neck and it extended down to her thighs. The dress hugged her body enhancing her curves.

The other person had light brown hair that glowed in the sunlight. It flew down to her waist like a waterfall. She had sapphire blue eyes which can mesmerize anyone. Her small, cute nose and cherry-red lips enhanced her beauty. She wore a simple brown dress that extended to her thighs and hugged her body showing her bountiful curves.

These were none other than Athena and Lilith.

They had been discussing among themselves for the past two hours. Since today was a holiday there were no classes held. Hence, Lilith chose to train with Athena in her courtyard.

Every instructor in the Varona Royal Academy had their own personal quarters provided by the academy. While most of them belonged to their own families, some chose to stay there. Hence, every instructor had two houses. Of course, the academy didn't spare any expense to build grand houses for them.

Lilith asked, " How do I know I have mastered a spell? "

Athena smiled and answered, " To completely master a spell, you have to memorize and comprehend the flow of mana in your body when you perform it.

For example, when you learned a basic rank 01 Ice shield, you acquired it. This means that you have comprehended it enough to turn it into a skill that you can perform. However, you haven't mastered it yet. To master it, you have to perform it again and again till you familiarize yourself with the flow of mana while performing it."

Lilith nodded with her eyes filled with determination.

In the city of Varona,

Two people could be seen walking along the road with their fingers intertwined as they stuck close to each other.

The men in the crowd were mesmerized by the woman's beauty while the women were breathing heavily with a blush on their faces as they glanced at the man.

The woman had white hair which extended down to her waist and appeared majestic as it glowed under the night sky. Her grey eyes and pale white skin made her look like a fairy. Everything about her face screamed perfection. She was fairly tall about 1.78 meters. She wore a black dress that had a slit on one of her legs that extended up to her thighs. Her cherry-red lips enhanced her beauty.

The man had black hair with its tips red which extended down to his shoulders. He had sword-like eyebrows while his golden azure eyes and pale skin could make any woman's heart tremble. His skin was smoother than most women's. His jawline was so sharp as if it could cut through objects like they were butter. He wore robes similar to a prince which enhanced his overall look. His walk was filled with confidence and he stood out from every other male like a sore thumb.

They were none other than Emma and Darell.

Since today they had no class, Emma insisted on him taking her out. He didn't have anything to do so he readily agreed. Moreover, he could feel that she had become somewhat paranoid after the incident and he needed to ease her worries.

They entered a fancy restaurant called Food Paradise. The worker immediately recognized her and took them to a VIP section. As the food arrived, they talked.

Emma asked, " Hey, do you remember how you always used to try for an opportunity to get close to me when we were children? "

Darell was embarrassed when he remembered his antics as a child and replied with a slight blush on his face, " Well, I certainly do but I would like to forget my embarrassing moments."

Emma slyly smiled and teased him more, " Oh come on, you were a predator under your facade and I was your prey. You would blush when talking to me and you knew that my heart couldn't handle your cuteness."

Darell smirked, " You are trying to make me look like a big bad wolf but don't try to pretend to be innocent. I still remember the scowl on your face whenever a girl tried to get close to me."

Emma harrumphed, " Of course. I had taken the task to protect your innocence from those thirsty bitches."

Darell smiled and shook his head.

After they ate, they paid the bill and left. They returned to the academy but they stopped in front of the storage room. They sneakily hid behind the building.

He pulled her close to him by her waist and sealed her lips with his. The passionate exchange soon turned into a fight for dominance as they valiantly fought with their tongues.

After a few minutes, Emma pushed Darell back and she spoke with a heavy blush on her face, " Let's stop here or else Dad will kidnap you if we continue further."

Darell laughed and said, " The old man doesn't trust me. He would torture me if he heard that we spent a night together."

Emma smiled and put her arms behind his neck and spoke with a loving gaze, " I love you, Darell."

Darell replied, " I love you too, Emma."

He gave her a small peck on her lips as they went towards the dorms.
