Chapter 1

 

   In a time where the time travelers are very common, Zane Vaine is an ordinary man, born in 2280, who has to take the responsibility of saving the world because of his mental powers, because he's special… It's not a thing that he likes, but a thing that must be done, in order to save the ones that he cares about.

   Having the power of traveling from a time to another is a very dangerous one… That's why in 2100, in Tokyo, because of a big disaster where the time almost fell apart, the next generations of humans were born with sealed powers so the travelers can’t access their powers anymore. But… Zaine was able to control his powers. Not only that he could access his powers as a traveler, but he could also access mental powers that can move objects and don’t have a limit. He was happy because of him accessing his powers, or maybe because of him having them. He couldn't actually use them because of the risk of being seen or doing something reckless. He was sad when he was thinking about this and at the same time he wanted to know why him of all people have these powers. Zaine was lonely since childhood, but those times are very vague memories because he doesn't remember ever having a dad or a mom. 

   **BEEP BEEP … BEEP BEEP** The sound of the alarm clock is the biggest enemy for a high schooler because it marks a day of school that is "A waste of time for someone that wants to train their powers". Life in high school can be complicated, but Zaine looks like he doesn't care too much about it. He made some trustworthy friends and decided to pass the school as easy as possible. At the history class, the teacher was talking about the "Big Disaster" that came 195 years ago. I wasn't paying too much attention but I understood that the "Big Disaster" occured by the travelers that lived in the same time. Maybe I'm like them? Forwards, he said that the time almost fell apart because of the power that was used by the time travelers. A tremendous power was gathered by 1000 travelers to try making someone old, younger. But… That power got out of control making the time unstable and almost break. That was the day when the human race almost got to an end. 

"Where did the time traveleres disappear?" said one of Zaine's classmates.

"They didn't die that day, but because of that enormous power they were transferred to another time or another dimension."

I'm actually getting kinda bored. 5 minutes till the bell rings… 3 minutes … 2 minutes … 10 seconds!!... **RING … RING … RING**

   After school, Zaine takes up his time for going into the woods and discovering his powers. I can move objects, like pebbles, and shrink them, but I can't do these things to bigger objects. Maybe my power is limited? Or perhaps I need to train. About my time powers … I can use them for stopping objects in time and also for stopping the time, but while the time is stopped, I can use it to my advantage for teleportation or moving very fast. Even if it needs a lot of focus, I can sustain the time stopped for a few minutes. 

   On my way back home, I saw someone old in need of help so I helped her get home because she couldn't walk that well. I felt very happy to help someone. It was the first time I had a powerful feeling like that so I thought maybe I could be a superhero in the future that saves people because I have these awesome superpowers.

   Coming back to my home, to my boring, ordinary life… Every night I think about my past, but every night I can't remember anything more. I can't remember if I have any siblings or if I had any parents. It's hard to tell if I ever had a family because it seems that I don't need one. But… It would be nice to have a family that supports me, especially in my hard times. At the same time, I feel that I have to walk my path alone, that I won't have someone to be right next to me to walk this path together. I was alone since childhood, if I can call it one, and I'll always be. Checking the time, 11pm. I think it's time to get to bed. 

   The next day, Zaine decided to go to a library and take a look at the books about the time travelers and their powers. He wanted to know more about himself and why he's the only one with powers. I can't understand… I'm the only one with time powers and also mental powers, but in the books that I read so far it only says that there haven't been any time travelers since 2100 and all of them were transferred to another dimension. That doesn't make any sense. It was … like … 195 years ago. Why now, why me? Zaine was looking through books, but, a book that seemed old attracted his attention. This book has a lot of information. I think I'll buy it.

   I got home with my new, old book about Time Travelers. After a long and detailed read, I found out that the time travelers didn't disappear. They were actually the people that live in our time, but in the big disaster from 2100, the powers of the next generations were sealed, so we all are time travelers. This doesn't explain why only me can access this powers as a time traveler. Not only that, but in this book there is nothing about mental powers, only how they used to go back in time or in the future. Perhaps I can do that too. There's actually explained how to create a time portal. "You have to stop the time 5 times, the first time you'll let the time continue where you're in front of the future portal, the second time when you're in his back, the third when you're in his left and the fourth when you're in his right. After that, waves of the time will be created, and in the final you have to stop the time and go to the place where you want the portal to be. After you let the time continue, the portal will appear in your front." A very explicit tutorial I can say. Maybe I’ll try this too someday.

   I put the book in my shelf and continued the rest of the day as an ordinary high schooler.
