I was currently laying down flat, face-up on my bed, as I extended my hand upwards and looked at the ceiling from between the cracks.

'Eva...'

Just thinking about her brought a whirlwind of complicated emotions to my mind.

She had been my everything, and yet...

Well, there was no use thinking of it now, the past was the past, I just had to manifest a better future.

Yet, I now faced a dilemma.

Should I risk it and let her attack the dungeon herself, in which she had a real possibility of dying even if she was the protagonist, or should I go and help her, ensuring her safety?

After thinking about it for a little while, I decided against taking any action.

I mean, she was already five to ten times stronger than the version of herself in the novel at this point in time, and there was Gwen too...

You see, in the original novel, Gwen had been the one to save Eva's party in that dungeon, so it would make sense for her to do it again in this regression, right?

Well, either way, Eva's safety was basically guaranteed, so I just needed to focus on my own journey for right now.

Realizing my open hand had now clenched into a fist, I slowly relaxed it and let it fall to the side.

My eyes slowly closed by themselves as I fell asleep.

...

It was a restless night, as I woke up feeling like shit, but Char's daily cup of wake-me-up tea was good, as always.

Slowly getting over my, hangover(?), I put on my uniform and leisurely walked out.

It was a Sunday, so I didn't have sparring obligations this morning.

Just taking a stroll to enjoy the ambience of the Pantheon, I fell back into my thoughts.

I had decided yesterday that it was about time that I used my future knowledge again.

After all, from my calculations after the tiny bit of probing I did when our mental connection was reinitiated, I knew that Eva's strength was about twenty to thirty times that of mine, and there was the problem of Vasilie too, who had a strength of about five times that of mine.

So, it was about time I got another boost in power.

Also, if you were wondering about the effects of the Genesis Breathing Technique and the Reverse Mana Absorption Technique, well, once again, they were techniques that showed their true worth in the long run, and were practically useless at this stage of their cultivation.

Anyways, back to the power boost, I started thinking about all the opportunities that Vasilie and all the other helpers of Eva had received back when they were at the Pantheon.

And then, I realized that there were only about 3 power ups at the Pantheon that had been mentioned by Eva's helpers after they formed their party.

The story did revolve around Eva and her love life after all, so there was little mention of the other character's journeys, except for Vasilie, so I had very little information about the workings of the Pantheon at this point in time.

Honestly, I would probably do much better at the royal court if I was thrown into that den of backstabbing bitches right now, with no preparation, but, I guess life wasn't always easy even with my future knowledge.

Okay, back to the topic at hand, I had three options (that weren't related to Vasilie, as she needed all the power she could get):

You are reading story The Villain Always Dies In the End at novel35.com

1. A demonic opportunity, cough cough, a DC technique, one that the Second Prince and the First Princess had found together, something that they would later use to try and overthrow the First Prince, Eva's love interest, but, of course, they failed miserably and were banished from the kingdom, eventually joining the me from before's army as demonic generals. (A/N: You guys can probably figure out what "DC" means.)

2. Something that I probably shouldn't touch because it was Rank 15's, and I did not want to get on the wrong side of that crazy pyromanic bitch. Also, there was the problem of that artifact exploding in the face of the user every few days...

3. Well... yeah, that would be a bad idea. There was no point in touching this "opportunity", I would just leave it to Tantia.

So, after going through all my "options", I was left with the only feasible one, the demonic opportunity.

'Well, fuck.'

After all, it wasn't a good thing that I would be speeding up the growth of my demonic seed. Its growth rate was already scary as is.

Then, was there any other opportunity?

Well, because it was a Korean Romance Novel, and it had a academy arc at that, I realized that there was probably a hidden opportunity in some generic hiding spot.

So, I immediately started searching.

...

Placing my perspiring back against the smooth bark of a tree on top of a hill, I slid down until I was sitting on the grass with my knees curled up in front of me, my hands wrapped around my knees.

Staring at the scene of the sun rising on the city below the floating island, its rays peeking out from behind the mountains as a new day started for the citizens, I could only stare at the sun in contempt.

After all, it had such an easy job, just rising and falling to signify the change in days.

As for me, I was extremely frustrated, having searched literally every single cliche powerful opportunity spot that usually appeared in academy novels.

I had checked every single book in the library, I had climbed the largest tree on campus, I had dug up the dirt in places that looked good, I had tried twisting certain parts of some statues, and I had gone into the creepy forest surrounding the Pantheon after dark, even praying to the moon in a clearing in the forest, but nothing had happened.

So, as the sun rose, I could only give up on my search, as Vasilie was probably thinking of ways to punish me for skipping our training today in accordance with the terms signed in our contract.

Sighing, I realized that just sitting here was a waste of time, so I got up, dusted myself off, started walking, and thought about ways to direct Vasilie's punishment elsewhere, or make her forget completely.

But then, I stepped into nothing but air, as I immediately lost my center of gravity and started falling.

Who would have ever guessed that a lack of sleep could cause someone to lose their directional bearing?

Instead of walking towards the Bruiser, I had accidentally walked off the edge of the floating island, yay!

But, just as I was about to call out either Char or Gwen's name, a gust of wind suddenly pushed me up and settled my sleep deprived body into an extremely narrow cave that my already small 15 year old body could barely fit into.

As I flew through the cave, hitting my entire body against the narrow, jagged walls the entire time, I finally reached a section where my body was too big, and I stuck.

'Well fuck! At least I'm not a step sister...'

Welp, no school for me today!

A/N: Oh yeah, for those who are worried, don't worry, new power hasn't even been revealed yet with the 40+ chapters stock, and MC is still weak as hell. Again, new power is for long term stuff, and there's also another reason for it...
