Chapter 11: Jessica’s death

He wasn't totally lying, Mike even though he had never been in the jungle in his past life and don't know much about hiding traces, he still made three paths and messed up a fourth, just so to waste a lot of time with anyone who tried to track him down. 

The warrior could indeed find the right path if he uses mana and even track Mike down, but it was simply a waste of energy and time, and they didn't wanna waste it for such a trivial matter, so he simply chose to act like he searched and found nothing. 

Mike on the other hand found another bear and killed him, gaining 150 experience and getting closer to level 12. 

After walking for 20 minutes give or take, he spotted someone that was walking slowly, he was more like searching for something than walking. Mike instantly hid behind a tree and scanned him, it honestly became a habit to scan whoever comes in front of him just to be safe.

Seeing the info of the guy in front of him, Mike's eyes instantly lit up, he could ask some questions and then take him down for experience which he really badly needed at this moment. 

Turning invisible, Mike closed in on the guy while holding the axe in his hands, he wasn't afraid of being found out, cause the other party didn't seem to be stronger than him from what the system has shown. 

Closing in from behind, he put the axe in front of the guy's throat while turning his invisibility off and saying in a deep voice " don't panic, if you answer my questions I'll let you go, and don't try to do anything funny or else my hand might lose its control over the axe and accidentally slice open your throat, and neither one of us want that ending to occur, so be nice and cooperate ". 

Seeing the axe on his neck, and how he didn't even feel the person closing in from behind him, Dick felt a chill run down his spine and he immediately answered the voice while his body can be seen slightly trembling, " sure ask any question you want good sir, just keep your promise please". 

" I never promised anything and didn't keep my word after saying it. So what are you doing here and is there anyone else with you", asked Mike trying to figure out a few things first. 

" We are searching for our family children, they didn't answer the summon call earlier so the clan elder ordered us to search for them. And yes I'm indeed not alone, I came with 3 more people, but we split apart so we can find clues in a faster and more efficient way " answered Dick while trying his best to please Mike with his answers. 

' Oh the father of this body actually sent a search party, well I bet it's mainly for Jessica and not a useless person like the ex-owner of this body'  thought Mike. 

Mike pondered for a moment and asked again " do you know where the closest settlement is located and how much time is needed to reach it from here ?" 

Dick was surprised by this random question that anyone could answer, but he still answered without holding any information back, after all his life depends on it, " the closest settlement is a town northwest of here, it's called serene town, and it will take you a week or more on foot and few days on carriage". Mike was satisfied with the answers. And decided to keep heading northwest and not change his direction for now, after all, he can level up and move to the town while stocking up the bodies of the beasts he kill to sell them later on, that's killing three birds with 1 stone. 

Seeing that the man didn't ask anything for some time, Dick couldn't help but ask hesitantly " Sir, sir, can you please let me go now, I have answered all of your questions truthfully, and if you want, I can even give you the 50 bronze coins that I have on me". 

Hearing the guy's words, Mike coldly answered " Yeah indeed, thank you for your answers, you were of great help to me, and you don't have to put a burden on your body and reach out for the coins, I'll help you out don't worry". 

Finishing his words, he simply slipped the guy's throat and waited till he die, after a few seconds of waiting, Mike ignored the system's notifications and took the 50 bronze coins from Dick, not forgetting to put the body in the system's storage so he can throw his and Jessica's later in some remote place, and for sure he buried the blood like always. 

After cleaning up, Mike started moving west with great caution.

I should first go finish off the other guys for more free experience and money if they have on them and then keep heading northwest, I'll surely level up with those 3 people. 

After searching for anyone for an hour or so, he finally spotted another guy, most likely in the same group as the search party since he is acting the same way as Dick. Mike scanned the guy and prepared to start his work. 

After checking out the information, he found out that the guy is almost as strong as Dick, he was gonna start heading there when he suddenly felt a hand grabbing his shoulders. 

Turning around, Mike spotted the one who got a hold of his shoulder, which looked like a middle-aged man, half his short hair was black and the other half was white, with black eyes and even a black beard, with his face added up with some scars here and there and his left eye missing. 

Mike instantly scanned the middle-aged man to try and figure out what he is dealing with here.

Seeing this scene and the middle-aged man's panel, Mike's heart skipped a beat and his face couldn't help but start twitching at how unlucky he is to meet such a boss while he was only level 11, Mike was gonna shake off the man's hand and start running for his life if he even can when he suddenly heard him open his mouth saying. " Young Master, where have you been all this time, didn't you receive your father's notice about our ancestor's recovery, and where is your sister, why can't I see her around? We have been looking everywhere for both of you, and why are you hiding behind this tree looking at my man ". 

Hearing what the middle-aged man said, Mike's eyes started to tear up, he clenched his fists tightly that even his nails tore apart his skin, and his face showed a look of anger and helplessness, he said while trying to talk normally as much as possible, " M... My sis, sister go., got killed on our journey to this forest to gather woods, I watched all of it happen, I was so weak to even move out to help her, and even if I sacrificed myself to win some time for her to run, I can't, since I'll just die with one hit, I'm really useless and pathetic, I really don't deserve to live in this world, I should have died with my sister or at least accompany her to the afterlife, but I was so afraid to even move ". Mike started crying like a baby who lost his toy after finishing his words. 

Seeing his young master's reaction and especially what he said about Jessica, he couldn't help but get angry, trying to hold his anger, he asked what's important first " tell me what happened and who did this, I'll make sure that they will pay back this debt a hundredfold". 

' Nice, I succeeded, I for sure fooled this middle-aged man now, but the main problem is still the ancestor, okay let's play along for now and figure out how to escape this mess later on ' Mike thought to himself. 

But from outside, he looked miserable, and slowly raised his face full of tears and snort and said to Robert, " We simply went to gather woods like always, but today the quality of the trees in the periphery was low, so we decided to head deeper than usual, after finding a good spot and cutting few trees, we decided to keep on going and cut more, while my sister was hunting beasts to protect me and to get them back to the family for money and food ".

Pausing a little, to cry out a little more and sob, Mike kept on going"  at some point I got tired and my sister lost a significant amount of her mana, so we found a lake to recuperate there, but after half an hour or more, a young girl showed up and ordered us to leave this place or die, my sister, Jessica was so stubborn and didn't listen to me when I told her to move from this place just to avoid problems, she insisted on staying and telling the girl to go and find another place instead. "

Pausing once more, Mike continued" when the young girl heard this, she directly created a Spear made of fire out of nowhere and attacked my sister, Jessica pushed me back and told me to run away, while she took the full Spear with her earth wall, but her wall didn't last for a second and instantly shuttered, taking one arm away from Jessica, after that my sister cried out in pain and tried to attack the young girl but it was to no avail, the other girl was way stronger, and with another Spear made of fire, she took my sisters head ". 

Mike added at the end" the young girl then burned off my sister's body and didn't even bother to look at me or kill me, and simply went on to take a bath, but after 10 minutes or so, while the girl was careless and in the middle of the lake, I sneaked in and stole her clothes and this ring was on it, and run away as fast as possible, but luckily the girl was so focused on her bath that she didn't even notice me, probably thinking that I was long gone cause of fear, I was indeed so afraid, but the hatred for killing my sister made me go back and steal her clothes so I can know her origin or something similar and take revenge when I'm stronger in the future ". 

Mike said while taking out the clothes from the system and showing the ring to Robert.
