Alpheus looked at his master, Sir Junshik Hyung, he didn't like to help, but he didn't want to let a task unfinished.
"I think I can help you, but it would cost you something," Alpheus said.
Pawtricia and Furliette looked at each other and then asked at the same time, "What do you want in exchange for that favor, Prince Alphie? You know that we don't have much here, except for food, shelter, and safety. Oh a human slave that cleaned our poop every day too."
"I want you two to tell everyone about my greatness and never allow anyone to rule this place. This pet shop would be one of my territories from now on. Is there any ruler in here?"
"No, Prince, there is no animal ruler. The real boss is always the vet. She owns the place."
"I see, that's alright. I will slowly influence the animals here to hate their own government. And after the government doesn't have any support from her animal citizen, I will secretly create a rift and an incident that would spark outrage and revolution."
"Once the revolution has successfully destroyed their government, I will slowly instill the doctrine that having me as their new leader is more beneficial. Those animal citizens would be fooled by my speech, and they will support me instead."
"Little did they know, there is no difference between my rule and the previous one. I will exploit them all for my own gain. heheheheh, HEHEH, HAHAHAHAH!"
…
…
"Prince Alphie, are you okay?"
"Arf! I'm good! Why do you ask?" Alpheus barked happily. "Well, it's time for you to return to your cage. I will return to my master's. He has been talking to that female clerk for a while. It infuriates me!"
Pawtricia huffed, "I want to spend more time outside, but alright. Please help Romeow and Furliette. I just can't let them be separated for so long. At this rate, they will die out of longing and heartbreak."
"Don't worry, Prince Alphie is a good-hearted hero! I will help my citizen—or at least, my soon-to-be citizens!" Alpheus said. "Okay, here's what we will do. I will tell my master that I am suddenly feeling ill. My master, Sir Junshik Hyung, will bring me to the veterinarian room. Furliette, you shall dash straight to that room to meet with your Romeow, and you guys can reunite. I think the female vet will understand that you two cannot be separated."
"Good idea, Prince Alphie! I will get ready! I need to groom myself first before meeting with Romeow again," Furliette said.
**
Pawtricia returned to her cage, and Alpheus helped lock it from outside and unlocked Furliette's cage, so she could dash to the veterinarian room anytime. He returned to Sir Junshik Hyung, still talking to the female clerk.
Alpheus was so peeved when he saw the female clerk trying to get closer to Sir Junshik Hyung, who was busy reading an ingredient of a medicine.
"As you see, Mr. Cha, this is our new product that you should buy for your dog. It will help him whenever he is throwing a tantrum. Put two drops inside their drink, and they will be sleepy. It has all the safe ingredients as well!" the female clerk said.
"Hmm…" Cha Junshik was listening to so many tips from the clerk. He never realized that taking care of dogs had so many requirements and tools and toys.
He really thought that dogs only needed chewing toys to play with.
He already checked out so much dog stuff, though, so he wasn't sure if he should buy this sleeping drop for a dog.
Because he thought that Alpheus was obedient enough.
'Maybe when he is throwing tantrums like a madman, or if he is nervous about something. I've read the ingredients as well. It looks safe enough,' Cha Junshik thought.
"ARF! ARF!"
"Huh?" Cha Junshik looked down, and he saw Alpheus already standing in-between his toes, looking up to him with his usual sparkling eyes and stuck out tongue.
"Where have you been?" Cha Junshik put the medicine on the table and picked Alpheus up. "You didn't make a mess, right?"
"Arf!" Alpheus shook his head, still staring at his Sir Junshik Hyung. He felt loved when Sir Junshik Hyung asked for his wellbeing, which meant he was prioritized over that female clerk!
"Oho-ho, your dog is very cute, Mr. Cha. I'd gladly take care of him if you need some private dog daycare, hihi~" the female clerk stretched her hand, wanting to pet Alpheus, but the dog snarled and showed his fang.
"Grrr! ARF! ARF!! ARF!!!"
'Stay away from my Sir Junshik Hyung, you female beast! Sir Junshik Hyung is my SUPER MEGA BEST FRIEND!'
The female clerk pulled her hand immediately before Alpheus could bite her. She looked at Alpheus in confusion, "Is your dog okay? Maybe he is distressed over something."
"Really? I think he is alright," Cha Junshik said. "He is just not that friendly with anyone other than me. He is a very territorial dog.
Cha Junshik was silently proud of Alpheus because he could blatantly show that he disliked someone.
Maybe because he was such a simpleton, he had no problem showing his emotion, unlike Junshik, who had been integrated into this society he secretly despised.
He loved teaching, but he hated socializing with other lecturers, let alone doing a mindless talk with those students who kept trying to hit on him or trying to impress him so they would get a good score out of their academic capability.
'Alpheus is quite… admirable, at least I have to admit that one,' Junshik thought.
The female clerk frowned when she saw how hostile the black pomeranian was. She was a clerk of this pet shop for two years already, and no animal had ever been hostile to her.
"Mr. Cha, I suggest you check your black pomeranian to the vet. We have a veterinarian here. At least a health check wouldn't hurt, right?"
"Hmm…" Cha Junshik was considering it for a moment. True, he never actually checked on Alpheus in a veterinarian because he thought that Alpheus was totally alright. Especially knowing that he had a human form, his human form was in great health.
But, a regular health check-up wouldn't hurt at all, both in human and dog form.
"Okay, can I check his health now? It wouldn't be long, right?"
"It will be a quick check-up, Mr. Cha. Because the vet has no animal patient right now, you don't need to queue for your dog to get health checked," the female clerk said.
Alpheus also found this as a good strategy. He was ready to act so sick, maybe make up some fake nauseous act.
But Sir Junshik Hyung actually wanted to do some health check-ups on him.
Alpheus didn't know what would happen when he got checked by the vet, but by looking at her through the vent before, Alpheus knew that the vet was a very kind young female human, which was great!
Alpheus snuggled on Sir Junshik Hyung's chest and whimpered slightly to make it look like he was actually in pain.
Cha Junshik was flustered, "W—What? Are you okay, Alpheus?"
"Arf…"
"Huh? What happened to you? You were completely fine a moment ago," Cha Junshik asked. But since Alpheus couldn't answer in the human language now, Cha Junshik decided to do a health check-up, "Okay, let's do a health check-up, can I see the vet now?"
"Yes, follow me, Mr. Cha."
The female clerk walked to the vet clinic's door, followed by Cha Junshik behind. Alpheus looked at Furliette's cage as they walked past her and signaled with his eyes for Furliette to break free.
Furliette saw that Prince Alphie had successfully influenced his master to do his bidding. She was a bit skeptical at first. But now that he was ready and had groomed herself to perfection, she opened the cage door and followed from behind.
The moment the female clerk opened the door to the vet clinic, Furliette dashed straight inside.
"Wha!?" the female cat was surprised. "What is that cat doing here?!"
The female clerk checked the cat cage and found that one cage had been fully opened.
"Oh no! Come here, don't make a mess in the vet room!" the female clerk panicked as she tried to catch the fleeing Furliette.
Cha Junshik stood still in silence, staring at the female clerk who tried to catch the cat.
"That's quite irresponsible of her. She should've checked all the cages first," Cha Junshik commented.
"Arf! Arf!"
'Yes! Sir Junshik Hyung! I'm glad that you finally noticed that! She is a bad female human! Only Alphie is the best for you! Please don't look at other people while Alphie is by your side!' Alpheus said in his head. 'And please don't adopt another dog as well! Because there is no empty space in our SUPER MEGA BEST FRIEND circle!'
Cha Junshik looked at Alpheus, who snuggled on his chest, and he ruffled Alphie's head, "Good thing you're not a troublemaker. Good dog."
