Chapter 4: W1- 4: Information I

Standing up my body felt sore after a long conversation with the priest. Stretching my body I felt the smooth wooden texture of the floor on my feet.

It feels oily though....

'I should go outside get some fresh air.

"It's been a long time someone is interested in history" The priest said.

"Wouldn't the other Otherworlders be curious too..?" I asked back.

"Well, truth be told I've never met one, the church only teaches us signs if the person is an Otherworlder  or a Representative." 

"Signs about what..?" I asked curiously

"Foreign language since we only have one language in this world."

'Hm'

"Wait, only one?" I asked surprised

"Well technically, yes. Long time ago we were only husks eating each other to survive until the Goddess Aria showed up, She gave us the intelligence to overcome our adversity, solved our hunger instead used the sun as food and energy for us and an ability to communicate by using her language as a catalyst. As time passes, there is too much of us, no trigger to balance our population so the Goddess gave us a mana vein. It gave us a true life some became less like husks, some turning into hybrid-animals or just animals to dragons and the others...well.....the undead." The priest said.

'So instead of a single cell evolution the Goddess gave them a mana vein. I probably don't have one though.'

"So anyway, I have a question." Unable to contain my curiosity I asked.

"Ask right away, child" The priest spoke with a face that says feel-free-to-ask-anything.

"So how can you get uh....you know..." I asked unable how to get the words right." 

"You know what..? The priest asked curiously.

".....uuuuuhhh....a mana...vein?" 

"......" Ah shit! I knew I shouldn't have asked that question.

"W-well priest, forget what I just said ju-" I said hurriedly before being interrupted.

"It's okay child I know that's always, always every Otherworlder or a Representative would ask" The priest said calmly.

"Wait but I thought you've never met one before?"

"Gossip child. It's pretty much the norm for the priests visiting the holy church."

Oh.

"So uhhh, how can get a mana vein then?" I asked ankwardly. With the priest reacting with a smirk.

"Okay okay, but priest is there any other way other than that?" I said interrupting the conversation. 

"...well there is way" The priest said clearly disheartened or worried? about what I said earlier.

"It is a hard way isn't it" I asked expecting a confirmation.

"...yes" The priest said worryingly.

"What way is it anyway?" I asked worried about his previous statement.

 "Through meditation." The priest said.

"....that's it...?

"Yes, that's it really."

"You're making it sound like it's really hard."

"Because it is very hard. Becoming one with your soul takes patience. Just learning after 3 weeks can only get you to lighting a fire through your fingertips."

"....it's that hard." I asked gulping.

"...yes.....it's that hard." The priest said worrying.

'Le-let's just change the subject.' I said in my head

"*cough* A-anyway what is your name priest.?" I asked.

"..ah, my name is Nolan "Morty". What about you..? The priest out of daze  answered my question.

"The name's Klover Kirsten. Nice to meet you Nolan." I said

"????....well it's nice to meet you too Klover."
