Chapter 36: 33 – Taking a breather (but is it good?)

As I run after her I find something else going on that stops me on my tracks: from the living room two bodies stumble in, wrestling on the ground.

“Let go, you fucking bitch!” Shouts Claire, struggling to hold off Miss Jimenez . Our teacher has the strength and height advantage, but Claire is armed with sheer stubbornness. “Let me go before I gouge your eyes out!”

They keep growling and snarling and struggling on the wall, pulling on hair and scratching at each other’s faces.

“Oh, that’s cute,” she sneers, coming closer and punching me right into the stomach. I fold like paper and fall against the wall, choking.

I feel whatever little strength I might have abandon me completely. I fall on the floor as I see a green mist slowly spread.
I see all three girls in the next room, asleep.

Tina still holds her knife, but someone kicks it off her hand and it slides beneath the sofa.

And then my sister walks in. She’s dressed like before, in her painted-on shorts and her light shirt, but she’s also wearing… a gas mask.

Looks like all those hours spend at the herbology lab were not for nothing.

And then the gas pulls me down into the darkness.
