When Luo Ziling quickly made it back to the men’s dormitory building, he heaved a sigh of relief.
Because of Ouyang Feifei’s cold behavior in the car and Ouyang Huihui’s ruckus just now, Luo Ziling’s impression of the two sisters had once again soured. He once again wanted to stay away from them and not interact with them as much as humanly possible.
He pushed open the door to his dorm and saw the other three guys fighting over a game of Dou Dizhu.
For some reason, the three of them had a lot of notes stuck to their faces as if they were roleplaying as bulletin boards, though he seriously had no idea just what they were up to.
As soon as he saw Luo Ziling enter the front door, Cao Jianhui tore off the notes stuck on his face and threw the cards in his hand over to him. “Boss, you’re finally back. We were just about to put up a missing person notice!” he exclaimed, latching onto one of Luo Ziling’s arms.
“Boss, you have it so good; you don’t need to participate in military training, and you get to fool around and come back at such a late hour. I’m so envious!” Li Fuming also pounced over and grabbed Luo Ziling’s other arm.
“Would you stop?” Seeing that Wu Longjiang was also aobut to pounce over, Luo Ziling nimbly broke free from Cao Jianhui and Li Fuming’s grip and crossed his arms. “If you have something to say, say it properly. Stop pulling on me!”
“Boss, did you go out with Ouyang Huihui again?” Cao Jianhui had a mysterious look on his face. “Don’t deny it. Someone saw you go out together!”
“I went to treat her grandfather’s illness.” Luo Ziling did not deny it. He threw the bag on his shoulder aside and sat on his bed, then waved at his roommates dismissively. “Don’t ask anything me anything; I won’t bother answering you even if you do. There’s nothing to tell you at all!”
“Boss, don’t lie to us. We won’t believe that there’s nothing between you and Ouyang Huihui,” Cao Jianhui said, his expression looking similar to that of a slimy old man. “You have a girl who keeps coming back to you even though the both of you keep quarreling and fighting. This is the enemies-to-lovers trope, isn’t it?”
Seeing that Luo Ziling was about to lose his temper, Cao Jianhui quickly stood up, but he ended up banging his head on the upper bunk and let out a cry of pain.
“Serves you right,” Luo Ziling mocked, satisfied at the sight of his roommate rubbing his head and wailing. “That’s what you get for acting like a gossipmonger!”
“Boss, no matter how much you deny it, we won’t believe it.” Cao Jianhui looked a little angry. “You’re not loyal at all. You’re actually trying to hide everything from us!”
“Ouyang Huihui is beautiful, she comes from a good background, and she is also interested in you, and she also comes to visit you sometimes. If you still deny that there is nothing between the two of you, then you’re looking down on us!”
“Yeah yeah!” Li Fuming immediately agreed. “She’s such a pretty girl, yet you’re treating her like a man! She comes to you of her own volition and yet you get angry with her! You go out with her often, and yet you still don’t want to admit that the both of you are a thing! What, are you planning to knock her up before announcing your relationship?”
“Exactly!” Wu Longjiang put his hands on his hips. “If you admit to your relationship, then we’ll be proud of you! We can brag that our boss managed to snag the uni’s most beautiful freshman within a few days of enrolling! And yet here you are, not willing to admit it. Don’t you know that if you go public, we’ll also get to reap the benefits of your relationship? It’ll be easier for us to find girlfriends too!”
“The heck’s that got to do with me?” Luo Ziling replied without any anger. He took off his shoes and lay down on the bed, the took his cellphone out. There weren’t any missed calls or text messages. While there were some messages from social media, none of them were from the guys in the room.
“Who was the one who said you were going to put up a missing person notice?” Luo Ziling held up his cell phone and said angrily, “You didn’t call or text me, but instead sat up here playing cards! Is this your so-called form of concern?”
“We were talking about what you were doing while playing cards!” Cao Jian defended. “You know, things like ‘Should we leave the door unlocked for him?’ and ‘If we call him, will we disrupt his plans?’! I mean, if you were doing adult activities with Ouyang Huihui and we interrupted you with a text or call, then wouldn’t it be a mood killer?”
He let out a shameless laugh, which snapped the last bit of patience Luo Ziling had in his body.

“Get lost!” he yelled, letting loose a kick at the wretched look on Cao Jianhui’s face. The man wasn’t prepared for Luo Ziling to lash out so suddenly, so he was sent sprawling onto his own bed with a thud.
However, much like a particularly clingy leech, he immediately laughed and continued climbed back onto Luo Ziling’s bed. “Boss, tell us honestly. How far have your relationship progressed? Are you going to leave us soon? Or have you already had sex?”
“Oh, I get it. You’re just dying to know what it’s like to take a dunk in the swimming pool, am I right?” Luo Ziling said, looking as if he wanted to strangle Cao Jianhui with his bare hands.
Cao Jianhui screamed in fear and immediately leapt away to escape, but ended up crashing into the upper bunk once again and letting out another howl of pain.
The other two guys laughed at the sight before, as if they were gloating over Luo Ziling’s misfortune.
Knowing that Luo Ziling was unwilling to talk about Ouyang Feifei, the three roommates didn’t ask him any more questions even though they were still brimming with curiosity. They still had military training the next day, so they were also preparing to wash up and go to bed early.
They didn’t disturb him after that, so Luo Ziling was also happy to be free. He took out his phone and started scrolling through his social media.
When he saw a few unread messages, he immediately tapped on them. A few of them were sent by random girls, most of them asking for good news. Luo Ziling casually replied to them, saying that he was busy and would chat when he was free.
Another message was from “Yue”: “How have you been these few days?”
It was sent two hours ago. Luo Ziling was a little embarrassed at having not seen it until now, but he still replied: “I’ve been well, thank you for your concern!”
However, he did not receive a message from the other party.
Holding his phone, he thought for a moment and sent a message to Yang Qingyin, “Are you asleep?”
He quickly received a reply. “It’s not even nine o’clock yet!”
“Then what are you doing?”
“I’m reading! But enough about me; I heard that you went out with a pretty girl, so why are you already back?”
When he read her message, he realized that a lot of people probably already knew that he’d gone out with Ouyang Huihui today, so he didn’t bother denying it. “Ouyang Huihui’s grandfather is friends with my grandfather, you see. Since his illness hasn’t been cured yet, I went over to give him a checkup.”
Without waiting for Yang Qingyin’s reply, Luo Ziling immediately sent another message. “Are you free any time in the next two days? Take me to the Yuanming Garden again or the summer palace. How about it?”
“You haven’t done what you promised me!”
Seeing Yang Qingyin’s message and the mischievous emojis following it, Luo Ziling immediately replied, “Then I’ll do it on the same day!”
“Then I’ll think about it!”
