20 – Gunshot
Scarlett pressed her hand near her heart. It began to thump sharply at the sound of the shoes walking towards her.
The sound of footsteps approaching stopped in an instant, and the coat hanger with her jacket was pushed to one side. Then the box was opened. Surprised, Scarlett lifted her head and became motionless.
Behind the jacket was her ex-husband, Viktor Dumfelt, looking down.
Although it had not been a long time since they divorced, the mood of her ex-husband was distinctly different. He was a little thinner than before, and his face, which used to be solemn as a naval officer, gave off a strangely lonely atmosphere. The most surprising thing was that the youthful arrogance in his piercing eyes had calmed down as if decades had passed.
The naval forces of the Rubied, where he was Captain, was mobilised to the police force when they were not on duty. Thus it was rational for him to be here in this situation.
Was it the law of the world to encounter those whom you did not wish to meet, in situations you did not want them to know?
During that brief encounter, 50,000 thoughts flashed through her mind, but she couldn’t come up with a single solution.
As Scarlett covered her mouth with her two hands and held her ragged breath, Viktor gazed down at her and drew out a splendid silver gun.
Scarlett closed her eyes tightly and turned her head to the side. Two shots were fired in succession from the silenced gun. Everyone there stiffened, and Viktor turned around.
“Let’s go.”
He replied indifferently, but on the contrary, some of the drivers collapsed from overthinking.
Deputy Captain Evan Wright, who accompanied Viktor, followed and acted as if nothing had happened.
“Yes, Captain.”
No one here could disobey the king’s grandson, Viktor Dumfelt, so everyone turned around without question.
As Viktor headed towards the warehouse door, a nearby policeman ran ahead and opened the door followed behind.
In an instant, they were gone.
Mr Powell ran to the box and saw two feet stuck in a sack of coal. Scarlett cradled her injured arm from shards of wood, lay curled.
“Sue! Susan! Charlie! Come on, Lady Scarlett. Grab my hand!”
At his words, two children, whose eyes were covered by the drivers, ran towards him.
The drivers ran and cleared the hangers.

With the siblings’ help, Scarlett came out of her box and stood against a wall with her legs wobbly.
What if it wasn’t Viktor who just saw her? Would she have been killed on the spot?
Viktor, whom Scarlett knew very well, was not someone to pass over her just because she was his ex-wife.
However, it seemed that his heart had weakened a little after meeting her. Someone’s livelihood was at stake with the repair of the tram. Not only the drivers but also the livelihoods of those who had to commute long distances on the tram were at stake.
The problem in the first place was that it was a nonsensical law that it would be against the will of God to repair the tram.
She came here with such determination, but when death was right around the corner, her mind went blank.
Mr Powell slumped down in front of her and spoke with a trembling voice.
“I’m sorry, Miss Scarlett. Never again... it will never happen again.”
“That’s right. Better find a new job...”
Everyone thought Scarlett, in those moments prior, was about to die. They were frozen.
Above all, Susan, and Charlie, who had brought her to the tram, were shaking as they clung to Scarlett.
Scarlett could no longer stand still in shock. She squatted down and looked at the siblings.
“Why are you so nervous?”
“I’m the one who brought Scarlett….” Susan burst into tears.
“No. I came because I wanted to. Don’t you remember?”
When Scarlett smiled, Charlie sniffled.
“No, we asked you to come.”
“No, I don’t listen to fools. I came here because I wanted to. It’s fun to repair trams.”
Scarlett said jokingly. But the siblings loudly wept as they hugged her.
//omg Viktor shot as a warning to the tram drivers, to protect her- Why am I sad? It’s not even a sad situation-
