Qiu Yu’s focus on the first day of training is transitioning from using gaming helmets to cabin, as well as completing a series of tests that would allow Coach He to create a personalised training plan for him.
He also had to create his competition account on the way.
In the professional league of “Century’s Finale”, competition accounts are required to use body scanning to create an avatar, which had to be completely the same as the competitor’s body shape and looks. The only things that were allowed to change are the avatar’s outfits, pupil colour, and hairstyle. Moreover, their IDs were also required to be in western characters, to make it easier for the Western Star districts to view the broadcast.
Qiu Yu wasn’t too familiar with Western languages. After looking through his memories, he dredged up a word that somewhat translated to Ghost, “Ghost it is, then.”
But Coach He shook his head, “Another player already has this name, think of another one.”
The original body had limited Western vocabulary, and Qiu Yu even more so. Since he couldn’t come up with anything, he threw the responsibility of coming up with an ID to the coach. “Then please come up with one for me, I’ll follow your decision .”
He Jingxing agreed and urged Qiu Yu to quickly change into a suitably sized nerve-connection suit and get ready to scan his physical data into the game.
Mu Feibai sent Qiu Yu to the changing room and smiled as he turned toward Coach He. “Coach, have you thought of a suitable ID for him?”
He Jingxing was currently inputting a name into his tablet: Soul.
Mu Feibai quickly snatched the tablet from him, “That’s too plain.”
He Jingxing knew his playful character, so he laughingly scolded, “You’re the captain, come up with a proper ID for your teammate and don’t mess around!”
Hogging the tablet, Mu Feibai laughed, “Don’t worry, he’s definitely suited for this ID.”
As he spoke, he showed Coach He what he typed out. “Cupid. Isn’t that pretty good? His last name is Qiu, and he’s so good at archery. This ID suits him perfectly!”
Coach He thought a bit and it turns out there really wasn’t another competitor with this name. Moreover, this name also doesn’t have any strange homonyms that others may make fun of. It seems that Mu Feibai really just had a sudden stroke of genius and wasn’t trying to suppress the new member, Coach He was quite reassured.
Mu Feibai watched Coach He submit the ID and quietly chuckled, raising a hand to gently rub his chest.
Very soon, the team members each entered their own gaming cabins and connected their suits, put on their helmets, closed the cabin door, and entered the virtual training field.
Mu Feibai had just taken off his jacket and gotten ready to enter his cabin before he heard the changing room door open. Turning, he saw Qiu Yu walking toward him wearing the Eagle Riders’ nerve-connection suit, embossed with a pair of black and gold wings.
The nerve-connection suits customised for the full-dive gaming cabins were all made of special materials that were fitted to the body and also breathable. After putting it on, the suit would closely hug the lines of one’s figure and except for extra padding in private areas, even the outlines of muscles were clearly visible.
Qiu Yu’s current body had a small stature and was slim and delicate. It wasn’t obvious when hidden under his clothing, but after wearing the nerve-connection suit, his waist seemed as though it could be held by merely using two hands. His collarbones were as delicate as butterflies, the suit wrapped his limbs all the way up to his wrists and ankles, which were tucked into gloves and boots.
Mu Feibai averted his line of sight in a flash. Just as he was stepping into his cabin, he unexpectedly had his foot stuck in one of the wires and fell into his cabin with a loud crash.
Qiu Yu was startled by the sound. “Are you ok?”
He Jingxing hurried over, “Did you get injured?”
“I’m fine!”

Qiu quickly connected to the device, sat on the zero gravity seat and sank into the virtual world.
As this was his first time logging into the competition account, the system spent a couple of minutes scanning physical and facial data to create an avatar. After his avatar was created, he joined the training area belonging to the Eagle Riders.
His vision lit up and what appeared before him was a small circular room with arched doors lined up on the wall around him. Inside the doors were circling lights. On top of the door hung signs such as “Shooting practice room”, “Strategy training room”, “Physical combat room”, and others. The area below the signs displayed the IDs of team members currently training.
Qiu Yu still didn’t know what ID Coach He eventually chose for him. Curious, he took out his PDA and clicked open his avatar information.
Cupid?
What does that mean?
Since the original body’s Western vocabulary wasn’t great, it was only after staring blankly at it for a few moments did Qiu Yu realise that this was the name of an angel in this world, who was born from love and whose weapon of choice was, coincidentally, the bow and arrow.
Qiu Yu: ……
You really couldn’t tell from the surface how Coach He was pretty good with words.
What kind of mentality did he have when he gave Qiu Yu this ID?
Was it as if since Qiu Yu shared a name with the angel of love, everyone he’d shot in competitions would fall in love with him?
Before Qiu Yu could finish his rant, He Jingxing’s avatar materialised in the training area.
Qiu Yu glanced strangely at Coach He. Upon seeing his expression was just like usual, Qiu Yu thought perhaps Coach He was struck by sudden inspiration and didn’t question him about the ID.
Besides, he didn’t really care anyway.
He Jingxing didn’t lead Qiu Yu into the training room, but first brought him into the testing room.
There were many tests for team members, such as varied terrain and obstacle courses, weapons usage, shooting, archery, strategy and infiltration, assassination, and physical combat. Each one would also be separated into specific areas, hence, an entire series of tests would take many hours.
Qiu Yu had accumulated years and years of combat experience and already knew how to use these weapons, so the tests were quite easy for him. He entered the cabin at around eight in the morning, and took three hours, without a break, to finish all the tests, finishing when it was nearing twelve.
He Jingxing flipped through testing results and was so excited he turned a couple of circles in the training room. At last, he gripped Qiu Yu’s elbow and spoke excitedly, “You’re really good! Really good! Tonight, go rank, and take Lin Jinxi and Lu Cun with you!”

When battle teams go to rank together, the team usually consists of a core player taking one or two other players. Hence not only can it improve cooperation, it can also train the core member’s battlefield awareness and leadership abilities.
The only one who had this privilege the moment he entered the team before Qiu Yu was Mu Feibai.
Qiu Yu had no objections to bringing along some new soldiers so he nodded in response.
After the morning’s training, Coach He was called over by Li Tingzhen to talk. The team members climbed out from their cabins one by one and directly put on pants on top of their suits, preparing to go to the cafeteria.
Qiu Yu had just cut off the connection and took off the helmet before he couldn’t help hissing lightly in pain.
The gaming cabin indeed placed a lot more pressure on this body than the helmet. He had only completed a morning of tests and maintained three hours of high-intensity exercise when every nerve in his body started to protest.
Beads of cold sweat immediately appeared, yet Qiu Yu gritted his teeth and after a couple of attempts, finally opened the lock on the gaming cabin door.
In the training room, the team members who had left their cabins first had already gone. There was only one unopened cabin and someone else was currently putting on pants with his back to Qiu Yu.
Qiu Yu was used to surviving in the harsh battlefields and so didn’t pay that much attention to maintaining his image. He took a breath and called out towards that person with a hoarse voice, “Excuse me… Can you help me up…”
His entire body felt weak and sore, and pangs of pain coursed throughout his limbs. For a moment, he couldn’t stand up.
Upon hearing his voice, Lu Cun turned his head. Seeing Qiu Yu’s pale face dripping with sweat, he froze for a moment, before his entire face flushed red.
“You, are you ok?” He rushed towards the gaming cabin with big strides and reached a hand to Qiu Yu’s elbow, “Can you stand up?”
With his help, Qiu Yu gritted his teeth and stood up, almost half hanging off Lu Cun’s arm, then climbed out from the gaming cabin. After moving this distance of less than a metre, his nerve-connection suite was already soaked with sweat. Qiu Yu’s puffed for breath, his hair stuck to his cheeks and temples.
Lu Cun, who was holding up Qiu Yu, saw that his entire body seemed weak and that he might fall after a couple of steps. He wanted to pick Qiu Yu up, but he was too embarrassed to touch his waist and stood there, red-faced, not knowing what to do.
Just as he was hesitating, the noise of a cabin door opening sounded from behind them.
Immediately after followed the clattering of wires against the inner walls of the gaming cabin, and then approaching footsteps. A well-built arm reached under Qiu Yu’s armpits and the crook of his knees and held him up horizontally.
“Captain!” Lu Cun was stunned.
“I’ll take him to the infirmary,” Mu Feibai spoke, “you can go have lunch first.”
Mu Feibai didn’t wait for a response before he strode with big steps towards the infirmary.
Perhaps he was in a rush, because a light scent wafted from Mu Feibai into Qiu Yu’s nose. Qiu Yu’s breathing paused and he held a hand to cover his nose. His voice trembled, “Your… pheromones!”
Mu Feibai’s arms tensed, he pursed his lips and completely suppressed his pheromones.
In the infirmary, Doctor Qi directed Mu Feibai to place Qiu Yu on the infirmary bed and quickly ordered everyone else out.
Mu Feibai turned to exit with lowered eyes, almost bumping into Lu Cun who ran over holding Qiu Yu’s clothes.
Lu Cun was quite worried, “Captain, can you go in and bring him his clothes?”
After a moment of silence, Mu Feibai spoke, “Bring it to him yourself.”
Lu Cun was bewildered for a moment. “…huh?”
Mu Feibai continued, “You’re a Beta, it’s more suitable for you to go in. I’ll be going first.”
After he spoke, he immediately turned to leave, looking as though he was escaping from something.
Lu Cun hesitated for quite some time outside the infirmary door. The flush on his face faded and rose again before he finally made the decision and gently pushed open the infirmary door holding Qiu Yu’s clothes.
“Wu……huff…”
“Can you still endure?”
“……Yes, continue.”
Inside the infirmary, from the bed hidden by the drawn blue curtains, sounded a trembling voice.
As Lu Cun listened, his face heated up until one could cook eggs on it. He hurriedly placed the clothes in his hands on the table by the door, “I, I, I… I brought his clothes in!”
He wanted to run immediately after speaking.
Yet, he was called to a halt by Doctor Qi, “Bring it in.”
As he spoke, he half opened the curtain and pointed towards the cupboard outside the shower. “Put it there.”
The curtain swung shut, once again obscuring the one on the infirmary bed. Yet, that short moment was enough for Lu Cun to catch a glimpse of a bare back. Perhaps it was the lighting, but the skin there was so pale it seemed unreal.
Lu Cun hurriedly averted his eyes, quickly placed the clothes where Doctor Qiu told him to and left with a reddened face.
Qi Zhefeng returned to the infirmary bed and placed his hand, clad in massage gloves, onto Qiu Yu’s calf.
Qiu Yu’s figure shuddered and he let out a nasal whimper, trying his best to relax. He felt the waves of prickling pain from the massage gloves, as well as the relief that came after the pricking sensation.
An hour later, the massage treatment ended.
Qi Zhefeng opened the curtain and took off the massage gloves. He turned, about to speak, only to see Qiu Yu’s still-naked figure, sprawled weakly on the infirmary bed. He was still puffing, and his body was covered in sweat due to pain.
The words that were at the tip of his tongue turned a 180. “I can get you a medical slip for this afternoon’s training.”
“No thanks.” Qiu Yu raised a hand to brush back his sweat soaked hair, “I can manage.”
The author has something to say:
Since someone made a bet with him, that if he could withstand an entire day’s of training, he’ll call him “ge”
