[Wave 9 Starts!]
"Dammit! These monsters had become too strong!" Luc grumbled.
"Just push through!" Deepak encouraged.
The group got into formation in their fortress and started fighting.
Luc was shooting down the small and agile monsters on the front of the hoard with Stella who kept hurling icicles while also casting her ice on large areas to freeze enemies or at least help impede their advances. At this point. The group had already used a lot of potions to recover their mana (which Stella had in her storage ring provided by her family) and also spells from Dylan and Adrian helped keep the group going.
Adrian had no problem with this kind of battle of attrition because his [Novice's Creation] is in effect by using a skill he found while driving toward the Dungeon location.
[I Don't Need An Armor!] — The Effects of any armor that was used by the user in the last 6 hours will be activated on his body except the defense it would provide.

He doesn't want to seem suspicious by having such an obvious armor set so he chose to sacrifice one of his skill slots.
Gerald managed to aggro the monsters and block while also dealing a significant amount of damage to the enemies. But their problem were the small and agile monsters that he for some reason he can't aggro them with a taunt skill possibly because of the Skeleton mages on behind the stronger monsters who kept buffing them. Deepak also helps and they together hold off the monsters from advancing. Alexander gives support to both sides but mostly at the front too with him occasionally leaving to cast buffs and recovery skills, he also skillfully snipes the small monsters like goblins and kobolds. In terms of workload, he is the one carrying the team. But that doesn't mean that the others are duds.
Each time Adrian sweeps his sword infused with sword aura and the small monsters died in an instant by being cut in half, with only a few more hits needed for medium-sized monsters, although no matter how many he cut down, the wave was seemingly endless.
The group continued battling.
"On your left!" Dylan shouted to Luc.
The latter immediately took a dagger hanging on his waist and stabbed the goblin mercilessly many times until it was lifeless. Five small monsters then ganged up on the three who all are buffed by the Skeleton mages. An ice wall then instantly sprouted out of the ground and stopped the attacks, giving them a chance to catch their breaths for a few seconds until it was cracked and destroyed.
The second the wall was destroyed Dylan cast a wind spell that flung back the five monsters back to the wave.
"T-thank you."
Dylan sternly replied. "No time to waste, let's go back to killing those monsters."
The trio then returned to killing the monsters in the distance.
Deepak and Gerald worked together as if they had known each other where the latter blocked the attacks and the other executes the enemy. The fight was now taken inside the fortress with limited space for them and the enemy are limited in number as they go in and were taken care of as they enter the fortress. Adrian runs around the battlefield with unparalleled speed to execute high-value enemies in one fell swoop and try to wear down the huge heavy hitters outside the fortress that are nearing in, as right now, only the small to medium size monsters had arrived due to their speed, as soon as the humongous heavy hitters outside arrived without the smaller ones being taken care of, they would have no chance of winning as clearing the dungeon was their plan.

Adrian was trying to execute the enemy backlines this time and the gigantic monsters at least 10 meters tall surrounding the Skeleton mages tried to stop him with all their might but his blade fell upon them and in an instant, he was wreaking havoc upon the Skeletons and one by one they fell, relieving them some of the burdens due to their troublesome buffs and offensive spells. He executes the mages while the giant humanoids tried catching him to no avail. As he was cutting down the enemy, he felt something staring at him. And sure enough, by the distance is a shadowy figure, although it was merely a shadow, he somehow could feel that the stare was somehow emotionless yet at the same time it was as if it wants to devour him whole, it's as if it was envious of his capabilities. His focus was only gone for a few seconds and yet he was hit by a gigantic hand and was sent flying back toward the fortress.
He landed a distance away from the fortress and when he slowly looked back in pain, he saw that they were overwhelmed immensely and that Gerald seemed to be poisoned even though no enemy was using any poison.
He got up and hurried to them but there were a lot of medium-sized monsters on the way which he slaughtered. Luckily there were not many more of them and all that was left were the huge monsters from way back. When every monster was cleared, everybody rushed to Gerald as the man collapsed while grasping his shoulder.
"What the hell happened?!" Shouted Adrian.
Luc then answered franticly "I-I was trying to shoot the… giant monsters with poison so that… when they arrive here they will be weakened. But a small monster suddenly got a jump on me and I accidentally fired on him! I'm sorry!"
"That doesn't matter. Dylan, let's cast a few skills on him first then we escape."
Stella then cut in and rushed to Gerald's side. "No need. I'll freeze him a bit and when we escape we'll get healers." She proceeded to freeze his body a little and then shouted "[Escape]!"
But a single message showed up for all of them and their faces turned pale. [Escape function temporarily disabled due to a [Space Lock].
"Space Lock?! Where the hell would such a thing come from!"
Everybody too tried using [Escape] to no avail.
The usually outgoing Deepak then turned aggressive and began shouting. "Let's stay just a little bit more and finish this! You guys want to give up now when we're too close to finishing this?!"
"Gerald will die! My! Guard! Will die! We can always try this again when he got treated! With much better result next time! Besides we've levelled up quite a lot already!"
"Then how will you fix the [Space Lock]" Deepak then broke into a small smile. The hysterical girl didn't notice but Adrian did.
*Did he…*
Seeing this, Adrian slowly began to unsheathe StarSlasher but before he could fully take it out to swing at Deepak, Luc shot Stella on the back with an arrow coated in the same poison and she began to collapse.
"What the hell, why would you do that?!"
"I've been thinking how to dispose of you, mister Marcus. Seems like you won't fall for the same trick, so we'll just use force to bring you down too. No hard feelings, you're at the wrong place at such a wrong time." A wicked smile then bloomed on Luc's face.
