Mark’s POV

With her small frame, she rose up on her toes from the stool, towering slightly over my sitting position. Her alarmed eyes looked like they were about to pop out of her skull as she looked down on me. “What!?” she screeched.

‘I told you, you wouldn’t like it.’ I sighed internally. Unbothered by her scream, I raked her body over, drinking in her appearance again.

Fuck.’ I groaned internally. I really made a mistake by giving her my clothes. How could a plain t-shirt look so good on a person? Seeing my adorable baby being swallowed by my t-shirt gave me a sense of ownership. It’s like giving your dog a new collar, telling the world that she’s mine. Her snowy white legs were plain in sight, giving me the urge to have her sit on my lap so that I can have my way with them. Her supple cheeks were glowing red from the hot, steamy shower, and her hair… God, it’s everything. I know how stubborn and competitive my kitten can be, so I had hoped that she would let her hair down when I told her to tie it up. Her hair was still damp from the shower; dew drops coming down from her hair strands. There were some small hair fringes clinging on to her forehead.

It fucking looked like she came back from some heavy love making session.

And the one thing that’s threatening my thin strand of sanity is the fact that she isn’t wearing a bra! Her nipples are poking through the thin material and it’s taking every will power that I have to not take one of them between my lips while I play with the other with my fingers; pinching and pulling them until she withers under me, begging me for more-

“Could you stop looking at me like that and start explaining why you were fucking planning to kill me!?” The alarmed voice of my baby dragged me back from my fantasies, before something dangerous could happen. I glanced down at my pants, where a dent was forming, and I inwardly groaned from the tightness.

I need a cold shower.

“Will you just sit down and calm down?” I asked the frantic April, who was now pacing left and right, lost in her thoughts.

I can already see what she was thinking: “He’s planning to kill me! I have to get away!” but she never will get away from me.

She stopped pacing around and eyed at me with her cute bambi eyes semi-cautiously. “Are you going to kill me?”

“No.” I said simply. “And I will spank your cute little behind hard if you keep thinking that I would ever hurt you.” I added warningly as I was getting tired of her distrust towards me.

Her already rosy cheeks became even darker. She cleared her throat as she finally sat back on her stool. She gestured for me to continue with my story. My eyebrows slanted upwards as I eyed at her in amusement.

“Right, so as I was saying, you were going to the Black Queen.”

“Why the Black Queen?” My kitten asked curiously, interrupting my story. I gave her a side-glare, warning her not to interrupt me again. She got the message and made a zipping sign over her full, plump pink lips.

“It started four years ago…” I paused and peered at April, thinking that she would interrupt me again, but she didn’t and I continued. “I met you at night when I was on a stakeout around the old small decaying convenient store where you were working at. Your beauty enraptured me from the moment I laid my eyes on you.”

April cocked her eyebrow at me in disbelieve.

I shrugged. “I have seen many women who were beautiful, but they became dust in my eyes the moment that I saw you.”

The place that she used to work at was a place that wouldn’t be easy to find in one of those back alleys. The foul feeling that I felt as I set my sight on the grimy, grotesque building that looked like it was about to crumple down from all the prominent deep cracks in the wall was distaste. One of my targets that I was planning to kill that night was located inside that building. My refusal to set one foot inside the building made me wait for him outside, laying in wait to ambush him.

That’s when I set my eyes on her through the window. A girl who I perceived to be younger than me standing behind the counter. Her wavy hair that was strawberry red cut in a neck length bob style, her bangs framing her gaunt, pale looking face. Her lips chapped and blue as if they were parched. In all fairness, she didn’t look healthy in the least. Her underfed stature brought a deep scowl to my face, but I quickly brushed it off, wondering why I cared. However, I found myself unable to tear my gaze away from her. Maybe it was because of her eyes, that would even put emeralds’ value to shame, were hollow and devoid of any light; sucking me in to them. My heart was getting stirred by her and it confused me to why.

“The guy that I was tailing finally exited the shop, walking in to the alleyway. I followed him, but as I was getting around the corner that guy suddenly stabbed me in the stomach.”

I guess the goddess of luck was still on my side, seeing how that fool missed my vitals. He was trembling and mumbling incoherent words. Telling himself that he did nothing wrong and fled.

“I slumped down on the ground and clutched on to my stomach, trying to stop the blood that was gushing out. I felt my consciousness waning, and I thought that this was it until… you appeared.”

A soft, melodic voice called out to me. Through my hazy vision, I could make out a person in a hoody, crouching in front of me. She asked me if I was okay, soothing me with her voice.

As the fog in my eyes cleared up, I could see a pair of deep forest green eyes peering at me. Startled by the uncontrollable beating of my heart and the proximity of her face, I found myself backing away against the wall, glowering at her.

Seemingly unbothered by my bloody state which fazed me, she rummaged through her bag, bringing out a stapler and some bandages.

“Like a brute that you were, used a stapler to seal my wound, ignoring my protests.”

April’s face blanched like she was listening to a horror story, not believing that she played a part in it.

I chuckled. “You told me to suck it up and be a big boy.”

The teasing smile she displayed saying that was like a rope binding my heart. Every time she revealed her pearly white teeth that would meet her eyes that were glistening with mischievousness, the rope would tighten, rendering me speechless.

I had to bite down on my jacket to hold back the painful grunts and moans as she did her job. All that time, I looked down at the girl with many mixed emotions. Admiration at how she could do this, curiosity about why she could do this, fascination that I felt towards this creature and bloodthirstiness.

I hated and despised the effect that she had on my heart; over my mind. I didn’t even know this girl’s name and I could feel how she was already thawing this frozen heart of mine. If she would tell me to jump I would ask her: “How high?”

I had to get rid of her, fearing that she would become my weak link. Making it more prone for my enemies to get to me.

“After bandaging me up, you stood up and left, telling me to call the ambulance when I finally felt like doing so.”

“Oh, God.” April cupped her cheeks, looking horrified. “I remember that.” She whispered and soon her eyes flashed with anger, which was sexy. “But in that case, I freaking rescued you! Why would you want to kill your savior!?”

I blinked at her obtuse and gave her a smile.

“Don’t smile!” She yelled.

“Anyway, after that I killed the target, of course after torturing him for some days as revenge for stabbing me in the gut. I was able to dig up some information about you and was soon following you and planning on how to murder you, but you did things that made me like you even more as I followed you around and soon I realized I was not capable of hurting you anymore.” I sighed, combing my hair back with my fingers.

“Just like that I have-”

“Wait.” April interjected, holding up her hand. “This may be the first time that I am glad that you are in love with me.”

I beamed. “Really?” Should I propose to her now?

“But that still doesn’t explain why you chose me to be a Black Queen.” She pressed, crossing her arms in front of her chest.

She can be really stubborn, this girl. “Your eyes.” I answered globally.

My baby tilted her head cutely, giving me a puzzled expression. “What’s with my eyes?”

“Your eyes were devoid of any emotions at that time, giving me enough reason to turn you in to a black chess piece, but your appearance that would even make a Norse Goddess jealous deserved to be a queen. Hench the black queen.” I concluded. “I couldn’t kill you immediately either, because of your position. The higher the position, the grander the murder has to be.”

My baby lets out a groan, covering her face with her palms as she rested her elbows on her thighs.

“Why me?” She croaked.

My heart felt heavy as if the heaven fell down and crushed it. I know she hates this, heck; she hates me. I am not obtuse, but I have to do this before any other guy gets to her. I want her, need her. No women can soothe me with a single smile, to make me want her with a single touch. I can’t imagine a life without her.

I stood up and walked towards her. Feeling my presence, she let out another groan. “What?” She asked despondently.

“It’s because you’re my soulmate.”

She scoffed and glanced upward at me. “I didn’t peg you for someone who believes in that shit.” My answer laced her voice in distaste. Dejection washed over me.

I crouched in front of her, cupping her cheek, and whispered to her softly, “I didn’t, but then I saw you.”

She slapped my hand away, glaring at me with brimming teary eyes. Many emotions were swirling around in those pair of emeralds of hers, choking me in the process. “Don’t reject me baby.” I begged her, holding her hands in mine.

I brought her hand to my face and kissed her palm. She lets out a shuddering breath. “Mark.”

I rubbed her hand against my cheek. “Yes, baby?” I smiled.

“I will never love you.” She said. Her voice hoarse, but clear.

If the heart was the earth, then mine would have ceased to exist. Like an earthquake, her disheartened words made my heart split in two. I tried hard to not show it on my face, but the raw emotions that could be felt in my voice were impossible to hide.

“I see… however, my sweet little kitten, you may not love me now, but one day you will. Whether it’s because of the Stockholm or because you finally saw the light, you will come to love me.”

“How would you know?”

I chuckled low, caressing her cheek with my thumb.

“My sweet little queen, I never thought that I would fall in love either, but look where we are now.”
