First thing's first, I should properly wash my hands and then the newly bought cooking utensils with the newly bought sponge. I know I just bought it and that there's probably no need to wash it but, just in case...besides doing it like this feels much better. Now then, I'll have to properly dry them off and begin cooking.
First, I placed an egg into the bowl and using the measuring cup to measure the milk. Until it's just of the right proportion with the egg. When it comes to the recipe of this dish, the proportion depends on the amount of eggs or the amount of milk you plan on using.
As there are also some who prefers a greater quantity of the eggs of the milk and vice versa. Since there are also some people who prefers that milky flavour, this time I've decided to use the latter.
After pouring it, I just have properly mix them together and just like the batter for the omelette is ready!
That's right, what I plan on cooking today is "French Toast!"
Even the harden bread is the perfect choice!
Ta-da! Next, I need to soak the bread into the egg batter. Though it takes a lot of time, this is what most people do when making french toast.
But thinking about it now, I'm more on the 'fast' kind of recipe for french toast, I just can't wait till tomorrow. Or rather, just before with all the work, I'm just so tired so I just sleep most of the time. Though I could just soak it the night before, I just can't do it... ... .
But well during the weekends and somehow I'm feeling good in the mornings so I immediately go for a 'soaked' recipe for the french toast. Really to soak it right into the egg batter is definitely useful.
So first you've gotta heat up the egg batter for a bit then put the bread to soak right into it. By doing this it would be easier for the egg to permeate the bread.
"The person who taught of this is incredible"
Really incredible. I wonder who thought of the idea to first heat up the egg liquid will make it much easier for the bread to absorbed.
Well, I also wonder who thought of soaking the bread in a mixture of milk and egg?
In cooking, there are all sorts of those mysterious ideas just lurking around there.
I enjoy such ideas and through that I can eat all sort of delicious food. Since I'm on the side who loves to eat, I really can't help but be thankful for those who thought up of these things. In this world, there are a lot of gods of cooking. Amazing.
While thinking of things like that, I started to put the egg batter on top of the frying I left on the dennetsuki. After that I have to lower the fire, and mix the egg batter
*guruguru*
If the fire is a bit strong and it had become too heated up, it would look like a hardened pudding, so you have to be extremely careful.
"I really want a microwave...."
Normally, I would have used a microwave to do this and since it's so convenient I really want one.
Let's do our best and amass a lot of points.
I thought as I mixed the batter. Seriously though, the dennetsuki (eunie: it's her type of stove, picture a few chapters back) take some time to get hot, to the point that it's quite abnormal. I hope it'd get heated up soon.
Then while mixing it along, the dennetsuki has finally warmed up and has slowly warmed up the batter. After that I place my hand over the pan and checked that heat.
It's here!
After properly feeling the heat through my palm, I placed the french bread that I brought over here.
"Oh, it's properly soaking up"
And within a blink of an eye--not. It wasn't fast but the lower part of the bread is properly absorbing the egg batter. Though it'd be nicer if I could use a stainless rectangular pan but using directly the frying pan is also okay.
After one side has properly absorbed it, it's time to flip the other side. As the egg batter is starting to diminish, it'd be fine to press the bread for a bit so that it would be easier for the bread to absorbed the egg batter.
"Un...I wonder if it's about time."
After most of the batter has been absorbed, I placed the bread into the bowl. It was alright to use the saibashi (eunie: long wooden chopsticks used like a spatula. picture will be below) but since I've got a deep fry spatula, I used both of them to slowly put the bread in to the bowl.
Since there's still some egg batter left on the fry pan, I placed all of it on top of the bread and then I washed the frying pan and once again placed it on top of the stove to warm it up.
"The last one is the bacon"
After the pan has warmed up, it's time to placed the last pack of bacon and slowly it started to cooked. Unlike the bacon egg, this time I'm planning on toasting the bacon to make it more crispier.
As the sound of the frying bacon started, I moved the pan a bit and waited until it's crispy, while fighting the urge to take out the bacon and when it's got the right amount of crispiness, I removed the frypan from the stove and then all of a sudden the kitchen table brightens up and ―― .
"Well...I might fall (in love) with it... ..."
A plate for the bacon appeared.
My kitchen...Nice assist!
"Alright, now it has properly soaked up"
While leaving the bacon on top of the plate, just like that I placed back the pan on the stove and slowly moved the bread, that has expanded a bit, into the pan and then covered it with the lid.
It takes quite some time so I decided to clean around for a bit and check the equipments of the kitchen again to waste some time.
"I wonder if it will disappear if I leave for a while?"
It's a bit scary.
If I leave in the middle of cooking it and then it suddenly all cleaned up.... ... .
If I have to cook a dish that takes quite some time, do I have to stay the whole time inside the kitchen? It'd be nice if I could just go out and return... ... .
"I have to check it out later."
If I try it now and the bread disappears, I'll definitely cry.
I have to properly try out and see the right timing it will disappear or if it will actually disappear.
"I wonder if it's about time"
While I was thinking about all sorts of things, it seems like it's about time to take it out. As I removed the lid, there's a nicely expanded french toast. If I remove the lid, the heat around it lessens and so the air inside slowly removes and saw that the inside were properly cooked.
Without missing that sign, I immediately removed the pan away from the stove.
Upon seeing that even the insides are properly cooked, I immediately removed the pan on top the stove and I could properly see that the toasted bread has a nice color.
"Oh...it even prepared a plate... ..."
Since it comes at this point, there's no other choice but to fall for it.
It's not like it has done anything special but on top of the cooking table there were two plate for me and the handsome polar bear.
I wonder why? Maybe since it is my skill, so it knows what I want.
"Lastly, I have to plate it... ..."
While still feeling awed by it, I started to placed side by side the french toast and on top of them I placed the nicely fried bacon.
And to topped it off, I used a lot of cottage cheese that I brought from outside and sprinkle some black pepper.
――A meal of 'French Toast' !
" 'dekiagari!' "
EUNIE: MORNING~ (or good afternoon?) uuuuuh.... I woke up early thinking how nice it'd be to upload a chapter around breakfast but since I'm slow on tl-ing IT JUST MADE ME A LOT HUNGRY. I'm off to grab some french toast myself and then a nice cup of coffee~ *drools* Anyways~ ENJOY. I'll make sure to post another by today. (I might go back to sleep though. Cause classes are starting next week X_X)
BTW, the picture on your right, that's the wooden chopstick thingy. Most Japanese? Or Korean? or Chinese? I think use them for stir-frying, deep frying or frying. I bought a long one and tried and maybe cause I'm not used to it, my finger or rather my hands felt stiff. lol.
