As I headed towards the kitchen preparation table, on top of it the items I've acquired through the exchange points were placed there. The cooking utensil I have finally have isn't really something I had a hard time choosing.
"It's a one-hand pot... ...."
It isn't anything special but it just has a long handle, an 18 cm fluorine processed pot. That has that cute hollowness and a cool stainless type. There were also various types of Aluminum but this time I chose it based on how it is much easier to use.
It doesn't burn easily, has a glass cover where you can see through the inside of the pot and since the handle is made of rosin, it wouldn't be hot even if you directly hold it. It's the best!
"Well today I'll only be boiling water"
Even though I just got a new cooking utensil, it's not like I'll be doing anything special. I only have a frying pan right now but it's way too shallow. This time I just need something that has depth. It could have been a milk pot, hot pot or a pasta pot. In the end, I chose a pot that can be used for general purposes.
So that's why, after washing my newly acquired pot, I poured some water and placed it on top of the dennetsuki (Stove)
As always, the starting up is slow and the firepower of the dennetsuki is weak. It's going to take quite some time before the water boils.
After the water started boiling, as if it has read my hear, on top of the kitchen preparation table a glass jar appeared.
"As expected. As expected of my kitchen"
Well, I did think it's going to go well. However, since it seems to know me well and understands me, I couldn't help but leak out a voice. Cause this time's cooking isn't like before where I have to finish cooking it before plating it. This time I need the container itself in order to finish making it. It's like how gratin is bake on its container and served as is.
It's amazing how this kitchen to understand what I really want to do. The more I use it, the more I like it. What a feeling.
"A, so it does have a glass jar like this"
For that originally bare kitchen to produce a glass jar like this, I couldn't help but examine it more and more. It seems like whenever this kitchen prepares a container for the meal is on the same level of craftsmanship available in this world.
That's why there hasn't been any plastic container that appears, that why all this time the plates the has appeared is made of glass. But this time what appeared is a glass jar with metal lid.
It looks just about like those jam jars that are around the size of a canned juice. In Japan, this would be called a mason jar, a glass jar with a wide mouth.
"First I need to sterilize it"
Maybe I shouldn't bother doing this but this time's dish is a refreshment. Something I'll be giving to another person and since I will also be using the inside part of it, I have to thoroughly clean it.
After sterilizing the glass jar with the hot water the next step is to prepare the fruits on top of the kitchen preparation table. The fruits that I acquired from the point exchange are European pear, orange and lemon.
This time I will also be using even their skins so I have to properly wash them.
"I wonder if these all came from Japan"
I wonder...
In the first place I think the things I've acquired from the point exchange aren't something from here. However, since I'll be using even the skin of the ingredients, I made sure to choose a domestic produce ingredients, which is why I'm curious.
Well I'm not really particular if it is an agrochemical or a preserved one.
"... ...That's why I've concluded that these are domestically produced."
If this is foreign produce then I wouldn't have to use the skin as well but this I was able to use the skin properly. Since it's 'the same as what I always use' then it's no doubt that these fruits are domestically harvested.
After washing the fruits through the water, I poured in a lot of salt on them. Now, this is a certain kill: Salt Washing.
I'm not really sure but this has the power to cleanse everything and help deepen the flavours. Using this secret killing move, I rubbed the salt all over the lemon and orange and since the European pearl is easy to get damaged, I have to gently rub the salt over it.
After I was done rubbing salt on the fruits, the glass jar is finished disinfecting that's why I grabbed a kitchen towel, since it's hot and slowly pour out the remaining water inside it. After that, I washed the fruits quickly and placed it inside the jar.
This is the certain killing move: Spilling Hot Water (Yude Koboshi)
I'm not sure how it works but it seems like by doing this you can devel all the bacteria and cleanse it. With the power of the hot water, it can help sterilize the container but since the fruits can not go over the fire so at most you can just wash it with water.
With this, we're done with the cleansing of the fruit and the container! The next step is just a simple procedure to make it. I just have to slice the European pear, make bite-size pieces of range and circularly cut the lemon and then arrange it prettily inside the sterilized glass jar.
"Next is to put some water!"
And now what's done is a dish of fresh fruits with herbs pickled in water. That's right what I wanted to make is detox water!
Detox Water is where you put a fruit without peeling its skin into the water and have its nutrients combine with the water. By drinking that water there are a lot more nutrients you can absorb compared to just directly eating them. That's the kind of dish this is.
What's more, from what I've heard when you drink this detox water, the bacteria and other bad stuff in the body will be ejected, which means it will detoxify the body. Something like that does sound amazing but it's not like I completely believe in it. It's just that... .... .
"Un. I knew it. It's cute"
It's because it's cute... ...in cooking, the appearance is also important... ... .
No matter what anyone says, the appearance of detox water is really cute! The sliced European pear's light yellow colour, the orange and it's skin's vibrant orange seems glossy and sparkly because of its orange pulps and there's the bright yellow of the lemon. With all these colours reflecting inside the glass jar... .... .
"Ah... ....how pretty."
The fruits that you can see through the glass is extremely cute and what's more, if I added the herbs I picked this morning, the pineapple mint, peppermint, and rosemary, a vivid green colour will be added.
Then if I added the water, the glass jar will surely sparkle and will make it cuter.
"Once I've put the water then it should have been finished, but since it will be after he exercised, I'd like to add some flavour as well"
Normally that's how it should have been but since this is also a refreshment of Hurst-san, I want to add some flavours as well. Since he should have sweated a lot from his training, he'll be needing to replenish his salt and sugar content. That's why it has to be a sports drink!
Since the orange and lemon already has citric acid it should help him replenish his fatigue.
The salt content should be around 0.1 to 0.3 percent.
Since I've put some fruits and herbs inside the glass jar, the water that can only fit in should be around 200 ccs. That's why the salt should only be a little amount. So just a pinch of salt will do.
After putting in a pinch of salt, now it's time to add a spoonful of honey. The truth is it would be easy to dissolve the honey and salt if you heat it first over the fire or mix the salt and honey before adding it to the glass jar. But this time I won't be doing that.
"Alright. Now it's time to put the mineral water!"
Once I'm done putting all the necessary ingredients on the glass jar, I got a 500ml water. The bottled water is also something I acquired through the point exchange, which is why it's also the same package of water that I am used to.
After pouring in all the water, I closed the lid of the glass jar in order to have the fruits and herb pickled.
"After this I just have to leave it all up to the refrigerator"
That's the reason why I just directly use the salt and honey and skipped the process to combine them.
――It's all because I have this one door refrigerator!
Right now the honey and salt that has piled up at the bottom of the glass jar but once I've placed it inside it will surely melt prettily. Normally it would take at least 3 hours to pickled them perfectly but I could shorten the time using this refrigerator!
It was such an amazing feat that's why I couldn't help but grin and laugh in a *ku ku ku* manner. Then while grinning I placed the glass jar inside the refrigerator.
"Please become delicious"
After closing the door and randomly said some spell sounding words, I opened the refrigerator once again. Inside is properly pickled detox water!
"Ah... .....Cute... ..."
Once I've held the jar, I could feel that it has been properly chilled. There wasn't much change with the colours of the orange, lemon, and herbs but the European pear seems to have become crisp in colour. The glass jar looks the same as before I've placed it inside and it's still glistening.
But the taste should be there... .... .
"Un. I think I should taste some."
It does look delicious but since I'll be giving this as a refreshment, I have to properly taste it first. As I moved from the refrigerator to the kitchen table, a small glass cup appeared.
"Eh? You are also going to give me a cup for tasting it?"
I think it's the reason why this cup appeared.
What's with this kitchen. It's way too considerate... ....
"I like it... ..."
Such a gentle consideration from the kitchen, that I couldn't help but say it out loud as I gently pat over the kitchen table. Then I placed some detox water into the cup to see how it tastes... ...
"Delicious!"
It's very delicious!
The water is as clear as always but it properly has all sorts of flavours and aroma. You can feel from the detox water the refreshing fragrance from the lemon and rosemary. And you can also clearly feel the acidity of the orange and lemon. The honey and salt also match with the acidity it gives.
It's certainly is a sports drink!
A fresh sports drink!
The flavour isn't all that, what's more, is that with the European pear a sweet fragrance will spread inside your mouth. After that, a refreshing taste of the mint will remain in your mouth.
Amazing! The aroma keeps on piling up over and over again and it's the fragrance that's making it possible.
"... ...I wonder if Hurst-san will be happy with this"
