Prologue

The sky was murky.

Wind and sand swept across sky and earth, and the sky filled with sand and dust and blood mist that melted into a bottomless vortex that hid the sky from the sun, as if it wanted to swallow up all the houses, carriages, hills and forests as far as the eye could see.

Amid the noise, Feng stood against the wind and looked into the depths of the whirlpool.

A thin figure stood there.

The black robe lay empty in the fierce wind. The long hair that fell to the waist showed an unhealthy, withered white, and a thin, pale hand stretched out from the robe.

Noticing Feng Ci’s gaze, the man suddenly turned around, exposing a pair of golden eyes under his hood.

He looked at Feng Ci from a distance, his gaze seeming pleased but also containing a hint of sarcasm.

— “You are late.”

Heaven and earth toppled in an instant.

The resignation of the wind jolted him awake.

The insects chirped in his ears, and Feng Ci closed his eyes in the blinding sunlight as he heard the person beside him speak.

“What’s next, why don’t you continue?.”

The person who spoke was a young boy of six or seven, staring at him with bright eyes.

The boy was joined by several of his peers, who began to urge him, “Yes, come on, what happened to the Saint Sovereign Qainqui ?.”

Feng sat on a park bench, his long arms propped on the backrest. He tugged at his loose collar, exhaling softly; “What else can I do? Saint Sovereign Qainqui defeated the great demon and retired after his success.”

“…… That’s it?” The little boy who spoke first was obviously a little disappointed.

Feng asked him, “Then what do you think should have happened?.”

“He should get a beautiful wife and have some babies!” The little boy said, “That’s how they write in novels.”

“That’s right. ……” Surprisingly, someone else agreed.

Fang snorted with laughter and gave the little boy a pat on the head, “You’re only a few years old, you think of this nonsense all the time.”

No sooner had he said this than a shout rang out not far away, “Feng Ci, what nonsense are you telling the childrens again, they haven’t done their homework yet!”

The call came from a somewhat plump middle-aged woman who was tying her apron from her waist as she approached the group of children and shouted, “All of you go eat.”

The boys scattered and fled.

Before the little boy left, he pulled a lollipop out of his pocket and slipped it to Feng Shu, “I’ll be back tomorrow, remember to give Saint Sovereign Qainqui a better end!”

Feng Ci opened his mouth, but the little boy didn’t wait to say anything and ran off.

Feng Ci shook his head helplessly and tore open the candy wrapper to put the candy in his mouth.

“I said, can you do something serious?” The woman uttered a rebuke.

This city park was next to a small orphanage, and the children were all orphans from the orphanage.

The woman was the caretaker of the orphanage.

Originally this park was only for orphans and senior people from the orphanage, but for some time a young man had come to the park.

He was in his early twenties and quite handsome, but he was not very proper and always gathered a group of children around him to listen to his stories.

He would always tell stories about generals of intergalactic empires, future world explorers and kings and royalty in troubled times as if they were true stories, and he would talk about them for a day. His favorite story was the one about the Saint Sovereign Qainqui of the Thousand Autumns who pacified the four seas and saved the lives of the people.

As a result, the children in the courtyard no longer feel like going to class and look forward to hearing Feng Ci’s stories every day.

Although he is usually a dandy, he is an uncomplicated person and his temperament is very different from that of the idle gangsters on the street.

Therefore, the woman was not disgusted with him but rather a bit disappointed.

“I say you should get a job while you are still young, why do you spend all day in the garden like the old man, strolling around here and there, watching the birds and enjoying the flowers in the park?”

With the candy in his mouth, Feng Ci spoke a little vaguely, “Why doesn’t the old man go to work?”

“He is retired.”

“I’m retired too.” Feng shrugged, a face full of innocence, “I’ve been retired for years.”

The woman could not help herself and rolled her eyes.

Feng Qu had been hanging around for a few days, and of course the woman had asked about his origins. He was never shy about talking about himself, but he said he came from another world. That he had saved thousands of lives. That he had been chosen by heaven to live forever.

Only a fool would believe that.

Feng Ci’s look was sincere, “I really didn’t lie to you ……”

In this universe there are infinite dimensions, large, and small, independent of each other, which Feng Ci calls collectively the Sumerian Worlds. Each of the three thousand Sumerian worlds has a different pace of time and social development, and does not intersect with the other.

Feng Ci is from another world.

“Forget it, I’m leaving anyway.” Feng Ci stood up and patted the hem of her coat, “I won’t be in your way anymore.”

The woman froze, “Where are you going?”

“Going to do the right thing.” Feng Ci inclined his head in thought and said with a smile, “In your words here, I should call it a re-employment after retirement?”

When a person has been given a heavenly blessing, they ought to be at their disposal.

The heavenly Dao had given Feng Ci, the supreme Dao, an immortal body and the ability to foresee great disasters and calamities. It was his duty to appease these misfortunes. The last time this ability occurred was three thousand years ago, when the demons invaded and heaven and earth were on the brink of a disaster that almost annihilated them.

And the most recent time was just now.

After three thousand years of retirement, he had to be dragged back to work.

Feng Shu chewed the candy in two or three bites and tossed the stick into the bin on the other side with a wave of his hand before turning back to the woman and saying, Help me. Pass on a message telling them that, starting tomorrow I won’t be coming.

“Huh?”

Feng Shu said this lightly, as if the so-called farewell was as boring a joke as his usual lecture about his background.

But his expression was serious again, and there was no trace of a joke.

“Then you are ……” The woman had an unspoken feeling in her heart and paused, “will you come back later?”

“Who knows.”

Not to mention the difference in the speed of time flow between the two worlds. When catastrophic events occur, no one can guarantee that your entire body won’t retract.

He spoke about it in a light-hearted tone, but his eyes lit up slightly.

It was as if it was a cause for joy for him.

“I’m leaving.” Feng waved it off and turned to walk in the other direction.

“Huh? You…”

The woman hadn’t expected him to leave, so spontaneously and subconsciously wanted to shout something at him, but she didn’t know what to say. After another blink, the man was gone.

A gentle autumn breeze suddenly blew over the artificial lake, causing ginkgoes to fly around the lake and spread the ground with gold.

Feng Ci just disappeared in this autumn breeze.
