Wei Keli recovered his wits after having been stunned for a second. He shook his head and smiled. “Nothing. Let’s go.”
Qin Muxiao gave Wei Keli an odd look, but didn’t say anything further.
They soon arrived at the gates.
“My sister’s waiting over there,” Qin Muxiao said, and she pointed at a white Mercedes just across the road. “She’s inside her car.”
Wei Keli was starting to get curious about what Qin Murong wanted to discuss with him. It was unusual for her to be so secret, to the point where she didn’t even want to show her face in public.
He and Qin Muxiao waited for the light to turn green before crossing the street and walking up to the white car.
The tinted windows made it impossible to see inside of the vehicle.
Wei Keli opened the door and saw Qin Murong sitting in the back seat.
He quickly got in and closed the door behind him, while Qin Muxiao got into the passenger seat.
When Wei Keli finally sat down, he realized the driver wasn’t in the car.
“Murong, your sister said you had something to discuss with me?” Wei Keli asked.
“You’ll be attending Qin Muye’s birthday party tomorrow, right?” Qin Murong asked.
“He is. I asked him on our way here,” Qin Muxiao replied before Wei Keli could.
Qin Murong shot her little sister an angry glance.
“I am.” Wei Keli sighed. Even if he wasn’t fond of Qin Muye, she was still the heir of the Qin family, and he had to attend the party as a courtesy. His parents would’ve dragged him with them if he had refused to go.
“I’ve also heard that you confessed to Tan Mo, but she rejected you…” Qin Murong said.
Wei Keli’s expression stiffened immediately. “H…how did you know about that?’
Being rejected was only part of what had happened after he’d confessed his feelings to Tan Mo.
He had been utterly humiliated. It was something that he didn’t want to remember or be reminded of ever again in his life.
He’d even gotten hurt by Tan Mo and gotten punched in the face by his uncle, Wei Zhiqian, that day.
If he’d known that making a confession to Tan Mo would result in such pain, he would’ve thought it through and stopped himself from being so eager.
Because of the humiliation that would come if that incident was ever found out, Wei Keli hid for a long time in the corner after Wei Zhiqian and Tan Mo had left.

After he was sure that there weren’t many people around, he’d quickly grabbed his bag and covered his face and dashed toward the exit.
He hadn’t even dared to return home and had spent the next few days in a hotel until the swelling on his face from Wei Zhiqian’s punch had gone away
He had also taken a leave of absence from school because of it. If he had gone to school with his swollen face, all the fame and pride that he had gathered around him would’ve been gone in an instant.
Wei Keli even bought some concealer online and learned how to use it through online videos.
He waited until the swelling was almost gone and used the concealer to cover some faint bruises that were left on his face before going back to school.
Even his parents didn’t know about the event.
Wei Keli couldn’t help but wonder how Qin Murong knew about it.
The change in the man’s expression did not escape Qin Murong’s eyes. HMMM? Did something else happen that day that I don’t know about?
“Didn’t you tell me that you were going to confess to Tan Mo? That you were going to do it once she became an adult?” Qin Murong smiled and explained. “I’m pretty sure that you wouldn’t even hesitate because of how close you two are. To be honest, I really thought it would be natural for the two of you to be dating. All you needed was to make the confession. That’s why I’ve been keeping tabs so that I could congratulate your right away.
Qin Murong let out a deep sigh. “It’s just that I didn’t hear you talking about it even after Tan Mo’s birthday, and Muxiao told me that she has never seen you two together on campus. She’s never seen you two talking or having lunch together. So I just simply came to the conclusion that you were rejected.”
After hearing the lady’s explanation, Wei Keli secretly let out a sigh of relief. Fortunately, the part where he had been humiliated wasn’t exposed.
He quickly forced a smile to hide his awkwardness and said, “Maybe it’s because we’ve grown up together. Mo Mo…she thinks of me as her older brother, that’s why…”
Qin Muxiao, who was in the passenger seat, had sat sideways throughout the whole conversation so that she could see what was going on.
When she noticed the change in Wei Keli’s expression once again when he explained why he had been rejected, she grinned.
She knew that that was just an excuse that Tan Mo had made up to reject him.
She finally understood why her older sister kept telling her that Wei Keli was an idiot. His biggest problem was that he didn’t even know how to hide his expressions and adjust his body language. Any normal person could’ve read him like an open book.
“I see.” Qin Murong gently smiled as if she was a caring older sister. She put her hands on her knee and bent forward a little while looking at him with her clear eyes. “So, what’s your plan now? Do you still want Tan Mo to be your girlfriend? Or, are you just going to give up?”
“Of course I still want to be Mo Mo’s boyfriend. Heck, I want to be her husband in the future,” Wei Keli said without thinking twice. “To tell you the truth, our mothers have been close friends for years now, and they had come to a silent agreement that when Mo Mo and I grew up, we would be a couple. Also, my mother has always told me that I would marry Mo Mo when we became adults ever since I was a kid. The reason Mo Mo rejected me is that she doesn’t understand this yet, but there’s no way I will give up on her just because of this. I’m sure if I give her some time, she’ll understand…”
Wei Keli still believed his own reasoning even after all that had happened.
“The problem is that she might start seeing another man before she can understand it.” Qin Murong let out a soft sigh. “She’s still young and immature. If she thinks of you as her older brother, then that means she doesn’t see you as a man. She’ll meet another guy and fall in love with him instead of you. However, she’ll come to learn that you are better than all the other men out there. When that happens, she’ll want to be with you, but… You sure have it rough. Even though sacrificing yourself in the name of love is an honorable act, when that finally happens, she’ll have experience in dating while you’re still the same man who has been waiting for her. This will shift the balance between you.”
The reason Qin Murong said that was that she knew Wei Keli wasn’t a generous person.
And just as she had expected, the man’s expression changed again after hearing that.
“That’s why if you really like her, you should make her yours as soon as you can,” Qin Murong continued to try to persuade him. “This is just my opinion, but if you really want her, you should force her to be with you. Of course, she’ll get angry because she only sees you as her brother. However, it’s still better than her dating a lot of men before realizing that you are the better option. You have to make sure that she’s in a relationship with you so that she won’t date another man. All you have to do after that is wait, and she’ll fall for you sooner or later.”
