Su Huanyi woke up when Su Chi came in from outside. He had something on his mind and was not sleeping soundly, so he woke up as soon as Su Chi pushed the door open.

The door was closed to isolate sound, and Su Chi whispered, “You can sleep a little longer. I’m just from checking on Dad. ”

Su Huanyi sat up and looked at the time.  It was a few minutes short of five o’clock. “Brother, how can you be dishonest and break your word? You didn’t wake me. ”

Su Chi sat back on the sofa, “You want me to wake you to do what? Flash into the ward to light up for Dad?”

Su Huanyi: “….”

He attempted to fight back, “Didn’t you say you were night blind before? How come you can see now?”

“You recovered from your amputation; why can’t I recover from night blindness?”

The duel ended in Su Huanyi’s defeat, and his sleepiness dissipated for the most part. He sat up and patted his side, “Brother, come up and lie down.”

Su Chi looked at the vacant half of the bed for a moment, “No need.”

The temperature was low at night, and the heating was on in the ward outside, while the caretaker’s room was relatively cool. Su Huanyi noticed that Su Chi was only wearing a pair of trousers, and he wondered how the latter had managed to sit up most of the night.

He said in a tempting tone, “It’s warm under the blanket; you can come up and sit on the side.”

Su Chi still said no. Su Huanyi then lifted the covers and got out of bed, saying, “Then I’ll go to the duty room and ask for a blanket for you.”

Just as he got up, his arm was pulled, and released after two seconds.

Su Chi kept his voice down as he asked in a serious voice, “Why are you running around blindly? Do you want to be hospitalized for a cold and compete with Dad?”

“I am afraid that it will be big brother going bed to bed with dad.”

“….”

The two were at a standstill for a long time, and Su Chi finally whispered, “Okay, I get it. You go back to bed. ”

The bed in the room was not large, and their arms were pressed together when they sat on it. Su Chi slightly leaned to his side and Su Huanyi leaned to the bedside. “Am I squeezing you?”

Su Chu remained stiff, “No, sit still.”

The two sat straight again. Su Chi leaned back on the head of the bed and closed his eyes. “You can sleep for a while; Dad doesn’t need anyone there for now.”

Su Huanyi was on Su Chi’s side, and his eyes met the latter’s shoulder. He visually measured the height, and it should be high enough for him to tilt his head and lean on it. He cushioned his next move with, “Big brother, I think you’re reliable.”

Su Chi’s eyelashes fluttered, and then he faintly poked at his intentions, “I want to sleep. Sleep by yourself if you also want to. ”

“….”

The medical staff came over to do another checkup later in the morning. Su Chi stood next to the bed, and Su Huanyi went downstairs to buy breakfast for the three of them.

A row of canteens was opened up downstairs in the hospital. He ordered a few boxes of congee, dumplings, and egg dishes from the canteens. He found the medical staff had gone by the time he returned to the ward.

He brought half of the vegetable congee and meat dumplings so Su Jitong could choose the ones he wanted to eat, while the rest were put on the cooking counter.

The meat dumplings and meat congee were pushed to Su Huanyi, who looked up at Su Chi and said, “Big brother, why did you give me all the meat dishes?”

“You’re a broiler, so you should eat more meat.”

“….” Su Huanyi corrected, “Broilers and layers are both raised on feed.”

“You know a lot.” Su Chi sipped his porridge without looking at him. “Then how did you grow up?”

Su Huanyi was coy, “I grew up on a combination of meat and vegetables.”

Yu Xinyan and Su Jianchen came over after breakfast and brought a caretaker with them. The caretaker adjusted Su Jitong’s lying position before leaving space for the Su family. She went to the kitchen to prepare lunch.

Su Jitong said, “The caretaker seems to be quite competent, so you should rest assured and not run here every day. Su Chi and little Yi didn’t get a good rest yesterday, so they should go back and get a good night’s sleep tonight.”

Su Chi showed no sign of fatigue, “It’s fine.”

Su Huanyi secretly looked at him. He felt that Su Chi was not really fine, but was just holding it in so that the others wouldn’t see it.

How can someone like Su Chi, who is good at controlling his emotions, fail to hide something if he was really fine?

Yu Xinyan said, “I didn’t get much sleep last night either, alas…..I had to come and see you earlier, so I am a little sleepy at the moment. ”

Su Jitong moved and painstakingly stretched out a hand to hold her, “I’ve made my wife worry.”

Yu Xinyan leaned him back and said, “You lie down properly.”

Su Jianchen asked Yu Xinyan, “Do you want some coffee? It can refresh you. ”

Su Huanyi took the initiative, “I was out this morning and saw some downstairs. I’ll go buy it.”

He left the ward and entered the corridor. The white tiles of the corridor made the environment cold. The VIP ward was quiet, and not many people were on this floor. He reckoned that the people in the family hadn’t had much rest, so he bought four cans and went back.

He took the elevator upstairs after buying the coffee, and the doors opened with a ding! Su Huanyi looked up as he was walking out, and he saw a dashing and bewildered figure standing in front of him.

The figure looked around, and his eyes lit up as they swept over the standing strands of hair, “Brother!”

Su Huanyi clutched his coffee can in shock: Damn! It’s third brother!

“What’s third brother doing here?”

“That’s something to ask second brother.” Su Yu stuffed Su Huanyi under an arm. His eyes narrowed. “I flew over this morning and asked him where father was, and he only gave me the name of the hospital.”

Su Huanyi sighed, “Second brother has always been so good at what he does.”

Su Yu, “Mm-hmm.”

“Why didn’t you call us to come and pick you up?”

“I sent a message to Big Brother, but he didn’t-” Su Yu’s voice stopped. A tall, handsome figure was approaching the end of the corridor. “Oh, there he is.”

As he walked closer, Su Chi’s eyes fell on Su Huanyi, who was pinned under Su Yu’s armpit like a crutch.

Su Yu greeted, “Big……”

“Are you unable to walk on your own, third brother?”

Su Yu: “….” He closed his mouth and withdrew his hand.

Su Huanyi took the opportunity to stick next to Su Chi and rubbed his neck, which had been rubbed red. Sure enough, his big brother was reliable!

The cans of coffee in his arms clanked as he moved, and a hand reached out to take two.

Su Yu saw this and raised an eyebrow, “It’s still big brother who is considerate. I failed to even help my brother share the load. ”

Su Chi added lightly, “Not only that, but you also added to his burden.”

Su Yu: “….”

Su Huanyi felt as if he had fought a second-hand battle. He clapped his hands together at the bottom of his heart: Big brother is a talisman, ah!

The three went back to the ward. Su Jitong saw Su Yu and said, “Third, why did you run back here too?”

Su Yu had already recovered from the shock before, “I came to see you, dad.”

“Oh no, it’s just a lot of nonsense.”

The family sat and chatted for a while, and the morning was soon over.

They were not too many to fit in the ward like before, so Yu Xinyan stayed with Su Jitong and told the brothers to step outside. “There’s a health soup pot not far out. You can go eat that when it’s cold.”

Su Chi said, “Then let’s eat the soup pot and bring some medicinal food for you guys as well.”

Yuanshou Soup Pot was a local soup pot chain that focused on health and wellness. It had a neat and quiet environment and separate compartments inside.

The soup pot was quickly brought up after the four of them were seated. There were small pots for each person, which were boiling on an induction stove.

Su Huangyi and Su Chi were sitting side by side, opposite Su Jianchen and Su Yu.

Su Yu took the menu, “What would you like to order, little brother?”

Su Huanyi jumped at the chance, “Crispy pork!”

Su Yu: “….”

Su Chi glanced at him and said, “You’re the most healthy person I’ve ever seen.”

Su Huanyi was a little embarrassed by the compliment again, “Can I order it then, brother?”

The answer he got was a snort.

After excluding Su Huanyi’s opinion, the other three ordered some beef with radish and mushroom meatballs, and the dishes were brought to the table.

Su Huanyi chucked the beef and meatballs into the pot, and Su Yu was amazed, “Why do you only eat meat? Even second brother has to eat vegetables. ”

Su Jianchen put his chopsticks down and frowned, “What do you mean, ‘even I have to eat vegetables’? Third brother, do you have something against me? ”

While the two brothers across the table were quibbling, Su Huanyi peacefully carried the meatballs, beef, and shrimp sliders in his little world.

He did not forget to push it as he ate, “I think we should order some iced coke.”

Su Chi shovelled two slices of apricot abalone mushrooms into his bowl, saying, “You came here to drink soup.”

“But we can’t exclude ourselves just to have soup.”

“Su Huanyi, I suggest you stop using idioms when you don’t get the meaning.”

“….”

All the meatballs on the table were finished by the time they finished their meal. Su Huanyi still wanted to eat, so Su Jianchen turned his head and asked the waiter to add another plate.

Su Huanyi said, “Second brother is nice.”

The shrimp slider on the tip of Su Chi’s chopsticks fell back into the pot with a thud. He paused for a second before picking it up again. Su Huanyi saw this and added to the drama, “Even the shrimp slide is agreeing with me.”

Su Chi didn’t reply to him but unhurriedly ate the shrimp slider.

The soup in the pot boiled for a second round, and Su Jianchen brought out the meatballs he had just dropped in. Su Huanyi rolled three into his bowl at once by virtue of his pair of chopsticks.

Su Yu across the table was dumbfounded. He took a moment to say to Su Jianchen, “I’ve found a skill that can rival my coin toss.”

Su Huanyi didn’t care what the other party was saying, as the meatballs floated up. He poked one and blew on it twice before biting into it.

“Mmmm…!” The chopsticks were dropped with a patter!

Su Huanyi covered his scalded mouth and burst into tears. How could it suddenly burst with juiciness!

The other three looked over at the sound. Su Jianchen looked around the table and didn’t see any cold water. He quickly got up and went to the front desk.

Almost at the same time he left his body, Su Huanyi’s jaw was suddenly twisted over by a large palm. Rough fingers held his jaw and half forced his mouth open. “Open up, don’t bite.”

Su Huanyi raised his eyes in a haze of tears to see Su Chi’s magnified face. He was frowning, and his lowered eyelashes couldn’t hide the darkness at the bottom of his eyes. “Stick out your tongue. I want to see if it’s blistered. ”

Like a puppy, Su Huanyi poked his tongue out.

Su Chi held his chin and looked at it carefully, making sure it was fine before letting go. “It’s fine, no blisters.”

“Mmm.”

Su Jianchen also came back with a cold cola at this time and handed it to Su Huanyi, “Drink this.”

Su Huanyi purred, “Second brother is nice.”

Su Huanyi drank the iced coke as he wished, and Su Chi at his side kept watching him the whole time. Aside from the withdrawal of his hand, his upper body remained in a forward-leaning position without the intention of moving back at all.

Su Yu across the table put down his chopsticks and looked straight at him.

But his elder brother, who was always keen, did not turn around…

The four finished their meal and packed two portions of bone soup for Su Jitong and his wife. They stayed at the ward for a while before they all went back home and left the caretaker.

Su Yu’s flight was scheduled for tomorrow at noon, so he was going home for the night. They went to the parking lot, and Yu Xinyan took Su Jianchen’s car, while Su Huanyi took Su Chi’s car.

Su Yu was left standing in the middle of the two cars.

Su Jianchen extended an invitation to him, “Third brother, do you want to ride in my car?”

Su Yu tucked his hands into his pockets, and he was silent for a moment. He suddenly hooked the corners of his mouth and said, “I’ll take big brother’s car.”

Su Jianchen: “….”

With three people in one car, it was hard to choose who could sit in the passenger seat, so Su Huanyi sat in the back seat with Su Yu.

The car smoothly drove out of the parking lot and left. It turned a corner after a while and drove into the main road.

There were hardly any cars on the road at this time, and the road was lined with empty pedestrian streets. The streetlights glowed sporadically in the darkness, and Su Chi’s harsh, sullen eyes reflected the light as if they would never be shaken by anything.

Su Yu raised an eyebrow. He had something he wanted to confirm.

He spoke up, “Little brother.”

Su Huanyi turned his head, and a magnified face suddenly appeared before him. He was startled and lifted his arm to brace himself. “What are you doing, third brother?”

Su Yu whispered as he came closer, “I…..”

Squeak–! The car came to a screeching halt at the side of the road.

The car shook, and the distance between the two was forced apart. Su Yu bumped into the seat, and he hissed as he looked up and locked eyes with Su Chi in the rearview mirror.

The usually calm and uneventful waters were rippling at this moment.

The author has something to say:

Su Yu: Gotcha!

The Third Brother was just deliberately testing the waters and had no other intention.

Second Brother has been kicked out of the group chat again for getting Little Yi iced cola.

1. Flash and light: Little Yi fell on the riverbank and was said to be a star falling to earth.

2. night blindness: Little Yi said he’d put big brother in his heart, and big brother said “I am night blind.”

3. Amputation: Little Yi kicked a stone and then lay on the sofa like he was amputated.
