Irene continued to have diarrhea and vomited for a while. The water that Qiao Mo had ordered Eva to boil had been left to cool for a while. The temperature of the water was approaching the human body temperature. She put a small amount of salt into the water and gestured for Irene to drink it.
The smart Barron could tell that the reason Irene had vomited and had diarrhea was that she drank Qiao Mo’s water. He could not help but remind her when he saw that Qiao Mo was about to give Irene the same water. “Her body probably won’t be able to take it anymore.”
If she continued to excrete like this, he was afraid that something bad would happen. This kind of diarrhea happened frequently among the beastmen and they had a high probability of being life-threatening.
Qiao Mo explained in a soft voice, “Don’t worry. The amount of salt in the water just now was higher in order to stimulate her to get rid of the food in her stomach. Now, there’s only a small amount of salt in this drink. It can actually replenish her energy.”
Barron didn’t fully understand, but he could sort of understand what Qiao Mo meant. The amount of crystals in the two drinks were different and their effects were different too.
Eva obeyed and gave Irene the drink.
Although her diarrhea and vomiting did not stop, Irene seemed to have held on for longer than other beastmen who had encountered this situation before.
Qiao Mo spent the whole day observing Irene’s condition. After the induced vomiting, diarrhea, and replenishment, although Irene was exhausted and fell asleep, her condition was obviously better than before.
By night time, Irene’s condition had obviously improved, and Qiao Mo had been constantly making adjustments to the treatment plan for her. There were no glucose and nutrient fluids in this world, so she could only use salt water to help the electrolyte disorder caused by Irene’s vomiting and diarrhea.
Later, when Irene showed signs of dehydration, Qiao Mo changed the saltwater to ordinary warm water to hydrate her.
Under such crude medical conditions, this was all Qiao Mo could do. The rest would depend on the patient’s immunity.
Qiao Mo passed out from exhaustion after one whole day of hard work.
When she forced herself to open her eyes, she felt someone touching her body. When Qiao Mo cautiously opened her eyes, she saw that Irene was in her weak condition, trying to cover her with a piece of animal skin.
As for her mates, they were already sleeping all over on the cave floor. Barron was also sleeping on the ground near the entrance.
Seeing that Qiao Mo had woken up, Irene smiled and gestured to her to keep quiet. Then she tucked Qiao Mo under the animal skin before lying back down weakly.
Qiao Mo looked at the animal skin covering her body and felt that the temperature in the cave had clearly become colder. She guessed that it must be early in the morning. It was always the coldest at the moment the day and night switched and she was brought here by Barron at night.
Harry must have finished his hunt and gone back. He probably realized long ago that she had disappeared and was running around anxiously.
Qiao Mo sighed, unable to go back to sleep. She lay on the ground and looked up at the irregular rock walls above her, thinking back on what she had been through for the past two or three days. Perhaps because she was constantly in a state of anxiety and panic, she hadn’t eaten much. Therefore, she didn’t think of the issue of needing to go to the toilet.
Now, she suddenly felt like peeing.
Looking at the sleeping beastmen around her, Qiao Mo was too embarrassed to wake them up and ask where she should go to take care of her business.
She thought to herself to bear with it a little longer. She could just go back to sleep. It’d be fine if she were to sleep.
Irene’s illness began to improve.
But Qiao Mo fell sick.
She had a cold and a fever, and her body was burning up. She knew that she must have caught a cold because Barron had brought her out in the middle of the night. In addition, she had not had enough rest for the past two days and had gone through a lot of things. The high tension and being unaccustomed to the weather caused her to fall sick.
However, the rabbit tribe started to spread rumors that the female shaman’s treatment method was actually transferring Irene’s illness to herself.
This made the beastmen shed tears of gratitude and admiration for Qiao Mo. At the same time, they also dispelled the idea of learning from Qiao Mo to treat illnesses with rock wall’s crystals. They did not want to end up dying after treating others.
The beastmen even started to spread strange rumors, avoiding the crystals on the rock walls.
When Barron found out that Qiao Mo was sick and heard these comments, he was filled with regret. “I’m sorry. I didn’t know that using that thing to treat her illness would transfer Irene’s pain to you. I really deserve to die! This is not what I wanted!”
Qiao Mo felt like laughing, but the fever made it hard for her to do that. “It’s not Irene’s problem. Maybe it’s because I’m not used to life underground.. Can you let me go back, Barron?”
