Chapter 5: Freedom 1.5

"I want no more people," I mumbled as I fell headfirst into the pillow.

The adrenalin finally wore off as I reviewed what happened today.

First waking up in a new world with a threat, becoming a different person altogether, performing a song, signing a contract, and meeting a canon character.

It was a hectic day with lots of twists but finally, it's all over.

My life had suddenly changed.

I wonder who was the one who transmigrated me. Was it a ROB or some kind of system?

*Sigh*

It doesn't matter for now. My main goal is still to become Rank 10, Yodh.

I want to be free from the threat of eradication. And as a certain black-haired titan morphing man said for freedom...Tatakae.

And the best way to accomplish this is by going to school.

Moreover, the manga Mairimashita Iruma Kun is partially a slice-of-life school manga. Just on steroids. Though the manga made it seem a fun and happy place, there were mortal dangers all over the place in form of vicious beasts to goliath-eating plants.

So, my plan was as simple as they come. Join the Babyls Demon school at the same time as the canon happened. Use the knowledge of manga to climb up the ranks quickly; For that, I need to become strong and versatile.

Both money and connections will be required if I want to join the school and excel at it. According to short flashbacks in the manga, I think around a year is still left before the canon starts so I need to start preparing now.

And the first step to that is bringing my luggage from Hotel.

The evening breeze blew on the ground, blowing the newspapers that I didn't know had dropped on the ground to the corner of the street. There was a faint noise in the distance as if some alcoholic was making noise.

Last time, since I was in hurry, I did not pay much attention to the demons around me but now I can see that demons really came in different shapes and sizes. Some of the demons looked human-like while others looked like a lizard.

Though I knew from the manga that demons come in different shapes and sizes, it was still quite amazing to see a walking, talking triangle with a single eye.

I soon reached my Hotel which seemed to be named Devitel...Truly everything has Devi in it.

I went to my room and packed my luggage which was only a few clothes, meaning four hoodies.

Hey! I mean hoodies are great but the previous Nyx only had hoodies and pants...

Anyway, I realized I was calling the previous owner of the body, the previous Nyx but in reality, she was the true Nyx.

"I'm Nyx no more at the same time I have gone even further beyond."

Nyx spun as the music spiked. She shuffled dance fluently as if she had done the same thing thousands of times. Each of her movements was precise. Even the simplest dance became something more when she did it. With pinpoint precision came absolute grace, and as the music came to a close, the sound of slapping could be heard.

*Clap*

"Excellent, Nyx-chan. Truly flawless dancing." Meri clapped with enthusiasm. She was not even exaggerating. Nyx-chan may be the best talent they have acquired to date.

With the singing lessons they have drilled into her, it was evident that Nyx was a genius. A phenomenal genius. Each song she sang was with grace and seemed to bring out the truest meaning of that song. Even her dancing skills which were practically nonexistent at the start became polished to a point that few would ever compare.

"Well, I had a good teacher," Nyx wiped the thin layer of sweat on her forehead with a towel as she sat down on the carpet.

Meri smiled with satisfaction. It was rare to find such a polite demon these days. Though Meri could go on and on about the enrapturing points of Nyx, she cleared her throat as she said.

"Your debut date has been decided. It would be one week from now on the Makubari Dome." Meri's expression was quite bright as she said it.

"Makubari Dome? How? Don't usually only popular ones get to perform there?" Nyx asked with bewilderment. Even if she is promising, she thought her debut would be in a smaller dome. After all, performing in Makubari Dome is a big opportunity and it just seems to fall in her lap.

"Heh" Meri made a proud smile as she pushed her glasses with her hand, making them shine in the light.

"Usually Yes. But this time, one of the Evidol performing went into her Evil cycle, so I suggested you as a replacement." Meri could not hide her proud expression when she said it.

"Really? Thank you, Mrs. Meri. But won't this have troubled you?" Though Nyx was happy, she also couldn't help but think that her manager seemed to be some kind of a big shot.

"It was just a matter of pulling some strings. So, do your devi-best in the debut." Meri said that as if it was trivial and turned to leave without looking back.
