They found themselves in a private clinic.

In front of the doctor were ten thousand USD and a Viper pistol.

“Pick one.” Anjum Khan stared at the doctor dead in his eyes.

Without hesitation, the doctor grabbed the wad of cash. He then spoke, “My clinic has only the basic tools. I may treat her but I can’t guarantee that I can cure her.”

“If you can’t cure her, it;ll only cost you your life.” Anjum Khan took the pistol and cocked it against the doctor’s forehead. His expression was terrifyingly dark, looking like a savage who was thirsty for blood.

Beads of cold sweat started to form on the doctor’s forehead.

Xia Lei slid a handwritten list across the doctor’s table. “This is all the medicine you need to treat her. If you don’t have it, have someone deliver it.”

The doctor spared the list a brief glance, then quickly picked up the phone to dial a few numbers.

While the doctor called for medicine, Xia Lei was already busy picking out usable medicines from the clinic’s medical cabinet. Xia Lei was by no means a doctor but had a shockingly complete array of medical knowledge. His knowledge of medicine could rival that of professionals. The man was able to treat Shentu Ren through acupuncture. Sadly, what Ning Jing suffered now was burn wounds and internal injuries from the explosion. He had no practical knowledge in that field.

As soon as the doctor hung up, he looked at the busy Xia Lei with an odd glance. “Sir, are you a doctor too?”

“Stop asking me questions. Come with me, act as my assistant.” Xia Lei moved an arm full of medicine into the treatment room.

Ning Jing was laid on a simple patient bed, her body was covered with a white blanket. Her face was bloody and mutilated. Her condition had seen no improvement.

“I swear I’ll heal you, you’ll be home soon.” Xia Lei thought to himself.

The surgery soon began.

“Sir, how were you able to tell that there was an injury on her bone without using an X-ray? What the hell?”

“Oh my god. Sir, you must be a chief surgeon at some big hospital, right?”

“Sir, I’ve never seen someone operate like this. Your handiwork is more precise than a robot’s. How did you get to this point?”

“Sir…”

Time passed little by little. Soon, dawn came and chased away the night. It was a new day, the streets were bustling with people and the roads were filled with vehicles. A few cows could be seen roaming the streets, feeding on the grass along the sidewalk. In India, cows were sacred beings. They were not to be disturbed.

Ning Jing’s surgery came to an end. She was wrapped up tightly in dressings, just like a mummy. She was still unconscious under the effects of anaesthesia but her condition had stabilized. Xia Lei and Anjum Khan carried her out of the clinic. They then placed her inside a small container. Anjum Khan’s man had already prepared a stretcher for her beforehand.

The truck drove into the streets towards the outskirts. The lot had abandoned the first safe point for another new location where Anjum Khan had arranged.

In the moving vehicle, Xia Lei stared at Ning Jing’s wrapped face as he began to space out.

He was eager to find out what had happened in the laboratory last night. The whole incident was too weird. He just couldn’t wrap his head around it and deduce a logical reason behind it.

Questions lingered in his mind.

Back in Paris, the black robe man had made a throat-slitting gesture when he first appeared. It was obvious that he wanted to kill Xia Lei, But when presented with the chance, he gave up. In addition, it was obvious that the black robe man knew about the existence of AE capsules. Yet he didn’t take those away. Why was that so?

“Give me the answer three years later, then I’ll kill you.” Those were the words the black robe man left on the roof. He wanted answers. But what was the question? And why three years specifically?

When the black robe man left, it was clear that he entered the laboratory on the thirtieth floor. It was after that when the explosion took place. What exactly happened then? Did he ruin Zhu Xuanyue’s reincarnation plan and a high-level fight took place within that time frame? Why was Ning Jing the only one spared from the explosion when everyone else and all the machines was destroyed?

All of these questions stung themselves in Xia Lei’s heart like needles. It was awful not knowing anything.

“Boss, what do we do next?” Anjum Khan asked.

Xia Lei answered, “We’ll stay for a few days at the new safe point until Ning Jing’s condition improves a little more. Until then, we will devise a way to return to China. Instruct your men to keep an eye out for police activity in New Delhi. The Hattori clan had bought over the Indian military before. I wouldn’t be surprised if they returned with the police force.”

Anjum Khan replied, “No problem.”

Two hours later, the truck arrived at a village. The villagers in this particular village lived very frugal lives. Their houses were simple, short and tattered. A bunch of filthy children started to run with the truck. Anjum Khan had to poke his head out to yell at them to chase them away. Finally, the vehicle came to a stop at a farmyard at the end of the village. A beautiful young Indian lady approached the vehicle to greet everyone. Anjum Khan snaked his arms around her waist to land an affectionate kiss on her cheek.

Xia Lei finally understood that this wasn’t just any mere safe point. It was where Anjum Kahn’s lover was at. It was quite obvious that this wasn’t the only lover he had. He must have plenty of safe points all over India.

After they settled down, Xia Lei feasted on some Indian dishes prepared by the female host. He took a well-needed bath and then retreated to his room for the night. Once he was alone, he turned on his laptop and connected it to the internet.

In mere minutes, Xia Lei had made it into the New Delhi Police’s data system. From what he had gotten, the police had classified the explosions and gunfight at Might Biotechnology last night as a terrorist attack. They had even applied for the involvement of the Indian anti-terrorist organization, the 62 Air Force Assault Team.

The 62 Air Force Assault Team was India’s best anti-terrorist team. Their role in India’s military field was equivalent to that of the American Delta Force. In terms of training received and equipment, what they had were the best in the world.

Looking through the information, the edge of Xia Lei’s lips curled into a smirk. “You’re trying to capture me in India? Hattori Mei, you’re relentless. Are you really not going to ask for my consent? Fine, since you’re so eager to get me and I’m eager to get rid of your Hattori clan, let’s have some fun in India.”

After that, Xia Lei opened Google Maps. He settled on a location after ten minutes, which happened to be Punjab, close to the borders of Pakistan.

“Mm...” A female moan rang out through the walls coming from next door.

It was Anjum Khan’s lover. Her screams were exaggerated, like a parched traveller presented to a sudden feast. What followed was the creaks of the wooden bed and Anjum Khan’s groans.

The place was built with wooden walls and therefore not very soundproof. Xia Lei frowned at the noise, opting to knock on the wall to complain. “Hey, Anjum Khan, please lower down your voices. You’re distracting me from my work.”

“Uh…” Anjum Khan responded, “Sorry boss, we’ll try to be quiet. Hehe.”

Heeding Xia Lei’s request, it seems like Anjum Khan had covered his lover’s mouth with his palm. Muffled weird female noises could still be heard from time to time but it was softer.

“Anjum Khan,” Xia Lei called him in Chinese over the wall. “Get ready soon. We’ll be flying off to Punjab after tomorrow then we’ll cross over into Pakistan. We’ll leave for China from Pakistan.”

The rationale behind the use of Chinese was to hide the information from Anjum Khan’s lover.

Though Anjum Khan wasn’t sure why his boss decided to use the language, he followed suit. “No problem. We’re not far from Punjab, a ten-hour drive will take us there.”

“Also, I need to bribe a policeman.”

“Huh? What do you mean?” Anjum Khan was very surprised.

“I need him to help us relay a message.”

“What message?”

“That he received intel that we are sneaking off to Punjab to enter Pakistan then planning to return to China from there.”

“Uh… Boss, if you really wanted them to know, why not just leak it out straight? Why the need to bribe a policeman?”

Xia Lei explained himself, “Our opponent is sly. If we leak it directly, the Hattori clan will suspect that this is a trap. But if we reveal this to the Indian police, it’s a different story altogether. You get what I mean, right? The policeman you bribe must be of a certain level of authority and influence. It would be best if he was part of the intelligence network.”

“I get what you mean. Corruption in India is nothing. There’s literally no issue in bribing a policeman in India. I’ll get to it soon. Yeah, right after I’m done with my own business.”

The bed creaking continued.

Xia Lei smiled to himself, closing his laptop together then exited his room. The passionated noises were getting a little too much for him to handle. He just couldn’t remain in the house anymore.

In the backyard, Xia Lei retrieved his satellite phone to dial for a non-member of the Chinese Zodiac Battle Team. The call got through after a minute, he calmly spoke, “Hello, Prince Harifah. Do you recognize my voice? It’s me, Xia Lei.”

Prince Harifah replied, “I was wondering how someone could reach me on this number. I’m genuinely surprised that it was you. My friend, I was just about to contact you. I want to order fifty units of your Sweeper Infantry Fighting Machine.”

“That’s not a problem. I need your help with something.”

“Do tell, my friend. What can I do for you?”

“Can you have the United Arab Emirates media report on my official visit to the UAE to conduct a market survey along with pictures of a large-scale welcoming ceremony?”

“Huh? What do you mean?”

“I mean that I’m in the UAE visiting your palace and had a meal with you. Pictures… Photoshopping it out shouldn’t be a problem, right?”

“Oh. Hehehe… Got it, no problem.”

“Thank you, my friend. Your order shall be delivered soon. Goodbye.” Xia Lei ended the call.

Abruptly, a loud moan roared out from the house behind him.

Anjum Khan was obviously done with his business.

Xia Lei could only laugh. How could the vigorous Anjum Khan only last for that long? In terms of sexual stamina, Anjum Khan could barely last half of Xia Lei’s record. Weirdly, amidst the mess he was in, all Xia Lei could think of was Hattori Mei’s face and her smooth silky skin...
