I recalled what the original Kazuhisa had planned. He, or now I, left clues for my enemy to guide him to find me in this secluded location. I have been here everyday recently digging traps, slowly improving my technique. I would build a trap, feel dissatisfied at it's lethality, and I would dismantle it. If the trap's disguise doesn't hide the disturbed ground underneath, I would again, dismantle it. My trap is not allowed to fail, as I am going to kill him.
I will let him fall into a spiked hole trap made with sharp bamboo tipped spears. I have also prepared for miscalculation, a plan B. I have a few plastic containers of gasoline prepared to dump into the hole. I have a few torches to throw into the hole to catch it on fire. I also prepared a long and sharp bamboo spear to stab from above. I will stab him, until he stops moving.
My enemy has bullied me, I am scared to be killed one day, my life in society is already ruined. The entire school and dormitories are against me. We are in the mountains, and the nearest village is far. Since it will be so, I can only kill him before getting killed, that is my logic. I had finished this hole, once again staring at my watch. I expect that fellow at some point soon. I do not hear the usual noise or cries of insects or birds. It's unusually quiet. I then remember the plot of the story. I don't think my enemy will be here. This story is about monsters after all. I don't think an author in a story would roll with the protagonist just killing his enemy successfully in the first chapter, sadly.
I hear footsteps. Well I'll be darned, maybe I will be wrong. As my target was approaching, soon, it started to shake like an earthquake in the area. Before I realized it, my enemy turned around to leave, because of the earthquake; I had just went through a roller coaster of emotions.
How typical. The protagonist doesn't get to kill his enemy is definitely confirmed. I also doubt he will be back.
I decide to wait. If it was the original Kazuhisa he would have also waited to see if he would return first. I also know I can kill a monster at some point next to get my easy level up at this location. I eventually hear the sounds of heavy footsteps; sure thing, this is a monster. Eventually the sounds of a pig enter my ears. I hear his shrill scream as they fall into the trap. I grabbed the plastic container full of gasoline. I light some confetti to light the trap on fire. The monster starts screaming, I went back to grab my spear. I started to stab my spear into the monster, feeling the resistance of their flesh in my hands.
I see this pig-like creature. This should be what they call an orc. I don't think I leveled up yet, I stabbed again to make sure. The orc dissipated into smoke, a trumpet sounded off, while I could hear an androgynous neutral voice say, "You leveled up!" My vision blurred white for a moment.
