Meanwhile, somewhere in the town, Hugo was walking in the street on their way back to the inn they were staying at. With him were Tito, Ivo, and Winter. The other members of the pack went away to survey the area and just to run wild while the twins stayed with Rinnie.

"Alpha, your emotions had been going back and forth," Winter, the shy wolf, glanced at Hugo's back, who was walking ahead of them. "It's starting to hurt my nose."

"Cover your nose if that's the case," Hugo replied indifferently, holding his hand behind his head with his eyes ahead. "Blame my little lamb for stirring my emotions too much. How dare she speak of another man's name with such gentleness? Those lips should only call for my name."

"Alpha Hugo, will you kill us if she calls our name?" asked Ivo, so were aware to avoid losing their lives in hands of this changeable man.

"Kill...? I'll erase your entire existence."

The three of them cleared their throat as soon as they felt the gravity of his claim. Wasn't he being unreasonable? But it was Hugo, and being unreasonable was already part of his entire existence. Ivo scrunched his nose up, staring at Hugo's back in dismay.

"Alpha Hugo, do you really like..." Ivo trailed off when Hugo abruptly halted, so they also stopped. His brows knitted, getting a whiff of the killing intent seeping out from the alpha. Winter even had to lower his head, as this aura coming out of Hugo was something that made them all submit to him.

Death.

"You three, take a run and see if there were bats prowling the street," Hugo ordered in a quiet voice while narrowing his eyes. "My gut feeling tells me tonight will be bloody."

"Yes, Alpha."

The three didn't question the Alpha's orders, as they already knew it was pointless. Not just that, but they trusted Hugo, especially once his tone hit a certain level. For werewolves, growling was their means of subduing others or a warning to their fellow wolves. But in Hugo's case, the lower his voice become, the more terrifying and serious it was.

As the three disappeared from their standpoint in a blink of an eye, Hugo's eyes glinted. His heart was thumping loudly against his chest as his blood boiled.

"I never thought I will ever wish my instincts were wrong," he muttered, sucking air through his gritted teeth. "Let it be wrong this time."

As soon as he uttered those words under his breath, Hugo rushed back to the inn where Rinnie was. To avoid getting noticed, he leaped from roof to roof, appearing like a shadow at his speed. The closer he got to his destination, the more this vampire scent grew distinct, albeit faint.

It didn't take long when Hugo arrived at the inn. When he was about to enter, the twins, Kieran and Cyran, were walking out of the small establishment.

"Oh, Al... pha?" Kieran automatically hung his eyes low, wide-eyed, sensing the domineering aura emanating from Hugo. Even Cyran lowered his head in shock, knowing Hugo was out for a hunt.

"Where is she?" he asked, almost growling as his voice trembled. But the two were too overwhelmed by the pressure in the air to answer.

"I said, WHERE. IS. SHE?!"

This time, Hugo's voice had a mix of his human voice and a growl. Keiran forced himself to look up, only to freeze as soon as his eyes locked with those pairs of crimson eyes. Not good, he instantly thought. Hugo's golden eyes turned red. And that only means he'd kill.

"She — she is inside, asleep."

Just as Cyran answered, Hugo sprinted inside. The twins seemed unalarmed before he came. Knowing the twins were keen and would detect vampires if they approached their area, Hugo wished he was simply overthinking. Unless... the vampire that came was strong. Then, it was possible to get past the twins' radar without getting noticed.

Since the twins didn't understand what cause Hugo's sense of urgency, they naturally followed him inside. Hugo head straight to Rinnie's room and without a second hesitation, he kicked the door open before going in. Kieran and Cyran followed seconds after their alpha trespassed her room.

What came to the twin's sight was Hugo standing in the middle, staring down at the empty bed with droplets of blood on the sheet and floor.

"What the... hell?" Cyran whispered in disbelief, wide-eyed. But before they could wonder where did she go, the two were quick to step back even before the heat seep out from Hugo's body.

"Those fucking mosquitoes..." Hugo seethed as his eyes fell on the droplets of blood on the floor, trailing it until his eyes landed on the broken window. The curtain flowed back with every soft blow of the night breeze.

"... I will squash them all."

His fingernails slowly turned into claws as the hair on his arms and across his body began to grow. He stretched his neck from side to side, producing a cracking sound.

"Kieran, Cyran, tell everyone we will hunt and kill tonight," came out a voice, hungry for blood.

I weakly blinked, still feeling dizzy as my vision was shaking. I winced immediately as my wrist and thigh hurt, making me snap my eyes open as soon as I recalled what happened to me.

"Hug —" As soon as I sat upright, I realized I was on a bed, unbound. Confused, I looked at the tent I was in. Where am I? I wondered, baffled at my current circumstance.

"Oh, you're awake?"

I froze as soon as I heard a familiar voice of the man from a certain direction. I turned my head to the voice source, only to widen my eyes at seeing the person entering.

"Ashton?" I gasped, trying to jump out of the bed to check if this was real. However, just as I did, I winced at the pain in my ankle. I gazed at it only to see it swelling as if something solid hit it to swell like this.

"Princess." I turned my head to Ashton, seeing him drag a chair and perched next to my bed.

"Ashton, why — how — I mean, there was someone in my room and —" I halted and held my breath. "Ashton, are you the one…?"

My voice sounded distant as I couldn't finish my question. I only stared at him, studying the innocence plastered on his face.

"Princess, please don't misunderstand.. It's a long story, but…" Ashton let out a deep sigh as he smiled gently. "… will you listen to me?"
