“How nostalgic. The first time we reached this place, we were totally exhausted.”

It had been a few years since they last came to the Forest of Slumber. And now, being back at Boundary River made Celia incredibly nostalgic.

Celia looked around but didn’t see any caves. She was unsurprised by this however.

If it was that easy to find, then they wouldn’t have been sent on quest. Someone else would have found it already.

“Alright George, you’re up.”

“A cave right? I got you.”

Closing his eyes, George struck the ground with his spear which produced a crisp sound.

“Hyper-perception, full release.”

George focused all his attention to perceive the entirety of his surroundings.

In an instant, a physical map, with him as the center, gradually formed in his mind.

As the map continued to expand, beads of sweat appeared on George’s forehead.

In this moment, George was like a game character trying his hardest to explore and eliminate all the shadows on a map.

Within seconds, George was sweating profusely.

In this state, George was like a human radar. However, he was also at his most vulnerable.

In this state, George could not move his body. And not only did this expand huge amounts of mental energy, he must also remain undisturbed by the outside world.

Even after the state of hyper-perception, depending on the duration he spent in it, George would experience varying degrees of exhaustion. Which would in turn affect his combat ability.

An earth shattering roar pierced the sky, and accompanying it was a black shadow that was approaching them at sonic speed.

Celia raised her head and channeled magic into her eyes, causing them to glow pink.

Her vision of the black shadow gradually grew clearer.

Whatever it was had a total of three pairs of wings, two large and one small. The largest pair of wings in the middle had a sharp claw on each wing-tip.

“A Chiropteragon! Why would there be one of these nearby?”

She cast a glance at George who had yet to open his eyes and moved to shield him behind her.

Damn it, he really knew how to pick the best time to be out of commission..

Celia stared intently at the approaching Chiropteragon and recalled what information she could about it.

Chiropteragon were a sub-dragon species with bat characteristics. An adult Chiropteragon could easily destroy a city with its terrifying strength.

This was the first time she laid eyes on a real Chiropteragon.

Channeling magic into her fingertips, Celia moved her arms swiftly through the air.

Moments after, a transparent magical barrier began to expand around them.

Boom!

The expanding barrier caught the falling Chiropteragon.

The barrier shook violently. Celia gritted her teeth and waved her arms again.

This time sending an intense wave of compressed air sped towards the Chiropteragon.

Celia didn’t stop there.

After the wind came fire.

Balls of scorching flames flew towards the torrential air currents, instantly transforming into a flaming tornado that trapped the Chiropteragon within it.

This was Celia’s specialty.

Combining two low-level spells together to create something more powerful.

Roar!

“Shut up!”

As the Chiropteragon howled in pain, Celia threw out the next spell.

[Lv. 0 Magic – Silence]

The Chiropteragon’s voice instantly vanished.

The Chiropteragon that was wrapped in flames opened its mouth at Selia, but nothing happened.

For a moment, the Chiropteragon even forgot its anger and looked at itself in confusion.

Then, it finally seemed to regain its senses and began beating its wings furiously.

The vague outlines of magic runes started to appear on its burning body.

Seeing this, Celia’s heart sank.

“I’m fine. And I also found that cave..”
