Chapter 17: Chapter 16: Snake vs Bear (Part2)

“Oh, I was finding the fact that they were not using any sort of special skill weird but it seems that using one leave them exhausted. A good thing to note. They were certainly counting on their impressive physical prowess to win but they weren’t able and had to use these energy-consuming abilities. Luxia, do you have any idea about the reason for this? “ 

[Yes. All the beasts under rank C are considered savage beasts and while they have impressive physical power and vitality, they are rarely able to actively use mana. First, the number of savage beasts able to awaken an element and use them is very little. The second problem is their skills when it comes to mana control. If an ability needs a cup of water they will waste a whole bucket to use it and their ability to recuperate mana is as bad. Basically, savage beasts are more geared toward physical fight. Unless they have a good bloodline there is no way for them to efficiently use mana skills before becoming a Rank C magical beast.]

‘Oh, I see. So the fact that I can use magic skill easily at rank E and as a shadow beast will definitely attract some attention.’ Leo thought after hearing Luxia answers.

Meanwhile, the bear had already made its way back in the clearing and was facing the snake once again. With the snake's last attack, the fight that should have been a drawn-out battle was shortened and already entered its last phase. 

'The snake's boldness landed him a victory.' Leo said as he looked at the two 'kings'. One of them was poisoned and riddled with injuries and the other was just exhausted. It was easy to guess the winner from this. Unless the bear is a hidden protagonist, there is no way for him to turn things around. 

Knowing it was almost their last face-off the two beasts let out a deep roar and seemed ready to go all out. With a wave of the bear, a massive earth pike suddenly bolted from the ground under the snake and tried to skewer the snake while it spat a poison ball towards the bear. Barely managing to avoid the spike targeting its head, the snake still had a huge bit of its tail and body blasted apart. As for the bear, its whole left arm was melted by the poison ball and it seemed even more poisoned than before. Although the fight was already in its favor and the bear was on its last legs, the snake was still warily looking at the bear. 

“Luxia, it is time to kill those two fuckers. Even though their fight had attracted quite a crowd, I can't afford to wait anymore.” Leo said as he looked at the bear that looked like it could collapse with the slightest nudge.

After making sure he was ready, Leo once again turned his attention towards the two beasts in the clearing and felt the innate hunter talent effect quick in.

When he wasn’t looking at them they continued to fight. Despite its severe injury, the best fought fiercely and managed to leave many claws wound on the snake's head and ripped a part of its tail.  Meanwhile, the snake had ripped the second arm of the bear and currently held it inside his mouth. When he saw that the bear was almost dead, Leo didn't waste any more time and quickly made his way towards the battlefield. Once he was in close enough he casted a full powered shadow spike under the bear. 

The bear was already weakened and was completely unable to dodge the spike that suddenly appeared under him. In an instant, the spike stabbed through the bear chest and blasted a hole in the place where his heart was located.

ROOooa...r. The bear roared weakly as it looked at the hole that suddenly appeared on his chest and weakly fell on the floor, dead.

‘Hehe, that 200% damage bonus to my first strike is truly a killer move. So that’s one down, one more to go.’

'Yes do it.' Leo said as he felt an immense wave of power wash through his body.

'Oh my, that is insane.' Leo muttered as he saw the notifications and felt the wild power coursing through his body. That was the most insane power-up Leo ever experienced and he was now very curious about the bloodline absorption thing. However, Leo didn't think about it too much and quickly put it aside before shifting his attention towards the snake.

After his opponent's sudden death the snake was obviously furious and was furiously looking towards Leo. Although Leo was using Shadow cloak he was still discovered instantly by the snake. 

'Damn snake and their thermal vision.' Leo muttered as he stared at the snake. He was very displeased. Once again, his shadow cloak was proven to be useless when he had to use it against creatures with special senses.  

HIIISSSSS

Letting a furious sound the snake suddenly threw a fireball at Leo's current location. However, Leo easily dodged it and calmly looked at the snake. 

'It is time to end this, I guess.'  Leo muttered. If before he was just a little confident, now he was completely sure that he would be able to beat the snake without any trouble. However, he stayed cautious and didn't dare to understimate the snake. Just like the system said, you should never look down on a king.
