In the city, where he used to work, he watched the crowds go by. He decided to go to one of the cafés near his former office that he knew had reasonable prices. It still cost him $10, but at least not $15 or $20 at the other places.
It was naturally crowded, despite being a bit of a local secret. But he waited, and then got a table for himself.
Jon's eyes darted from person to person, all empty, all nothing. It was as if he didn't have the system.
Because he had a target.
Then, just then, he saw a familiar face. Kevin Palas. He walked in, and next to him was a beautiful lady. The café was full, and Kevin's eyes looked around.
"It's full." Kevin cursed.
"You didn't make a booking?" The girl, Ava Winters sighed, inside she was a little disappointed.
"It's not a place you can book."
"Let's go somewhere else, then?" Ava proposed.
"Ah!" Kevin smirked, and then walked towards Jon. Jon already expected it when Kevin sauntered over and sat opposite him. "Leave."
Jon sighed. "No."
"No?" Kevin flared, and Jon suddenly felt a pressure bearing down on him. He had felt this pressure before. Executive presence, they called it. It was something powerful people had.
[A middle-rank presence. He must be from a wealthy family and went to a high rank school.]
He used to cower at it. But now that Jon knew what it was, and somehow, he felt more confident. He shook his head. "No. I was here first."
Kevin's second challenge was a bit harsher. "NO?!"
Jon felt it a little. This time it seemed stronger, and he almost felt like leaving. But no. Enough was enough. "No. I was here first. There's like ten other tables, go bug someone else."
Kevin's eyes darted and looked around. There were indeed others, but then, his eyes looked at Ava's face. She looked annoyed, and bored. It just frustrated Kevin a bit more, and he glared angrily at Jon. He spoke with intense, burning anger. "Leave."
His presence rippled in the entire establishment, and already some of the other people were staring. At that moment, a pretty female manager, noticed the brewing commotion and immediately ran over.
"Hi, can I know what's the issue? The two of you are causing the other customers to be uncomfortable."

Kevin smiled sweetly at the manager. "Hi, I'm Kevin Palas, and I want this seat. This unemployed man is taking the seat that's meant for that beautiful lady over there."
The manager frowned, sighed, and looked at Jon. "And you?"
"I was here first. I even have my coffee." Jon showed his drink. "Why should I give it up for him?"
Kevin's face turned blood red at Jon's response. "You worthless nobody, know your place. I'll have my family hunt you down, and you too, manager, if you don't kick him out."
The female manager seemed afraid, and then looked at Jon, almost pleadingly.

Kevin Palas threatened the manager once more. "I'll have my family speak to the general manager if you don't get him to leave."
The female manager looked at Jon as if she'll owe him a great debt. Jon knew she was fairly new, she wasn't here when he still worked with the Company. Then, he had an evil idea in his mind.
He leaned closer to the manager, and whispered. "I'll leave, but I want to talk to you."
The manager nodded. Jon smiled, and looked back at his eventual target. Kevin, naturally, ignored him once he got what he wanted. He immediately called the lady over, and Ava had a look of relief.
"Well, good to see you, Kevin. I just didn't want to let the pretty lady wait too long." Jon stood.
Ava and Jon shared a glance briefly, and that annoyed Kevin. "Ignore this man. He's unemployed and worthless."
