Chapter 52: Epilogue

Niam frowned as he looked at the time. It was almost twelve and still Halo and Anthony weren’t over. 

He looked at his daughter, who he put to sleep not too long ago. He switched on the baby monitor, then took the other end with him and made his way over to the house.

When he got to the front door, his eyes widened. He could hear Halo’s cries of pleasure from there.

He grew angry. Last night he stayed up and snuck over to hear if they were doing anything and they did, but now they were at it again?

He pulled out the spare key he had and opened the door. Anthony had Halo leaning over the back of the couch as he took him from the front.

Niam’s heart broke when he saw they were making out as well.

Anthony looked over at him but didn’t stop. He focussed on Halo, making him scream louder as he moaned too.

Niam walked over and pulled Anthony off of him forcefully. Turning to Halo, who was red and limp, he slapped him across the face and yelled, “What the fuck are you doing?”

“Niam, wait, it’s not his fault!” Anthony said, pulling him back.

Halo cupped his cheek as he looked at his friend in disbelief. Didn’t Niam want him to do this?

Naim looked at Anthony, then ignored him. He turned to Halo and asked, “Didn’t you fuck him last night?”

Halo stood up and pushed Niam away, “What the fuck is your problem, huh? Didn’t you say I must do this? Now your ass is jealous.”

“Just once Halo! Not the whole fucking day as if you’re together,” Niam argued.

“What bullshit are you saying?” Halo asked him.

Niam folded his arms across his chest saying, “Why I trusted you, I don’t know.”

Halo felt offended and confused. How could Niam turn on him like this? He quickly put two and two together and asked, “If you fucking liked him, why did you suggest I must sleep with me? And so what if we did it last night? Your ass is the one that is too fucked up to handle the pressure.”

Niam stepped forward, but Anthony quickly stepped between them. “Wait Niam. Did you forget you are pregnant, and he is your friend? You should be angry with me.”

“Oh, don’t tell me that shit!” Niam growled at him and glared at Halo that he couldn’t get to. “Take your shit and leave before I kill you.”

“As if you can.” Halo rolled his eyes and walked away. He paused in his steps and turned to Niam and said, “You know what, at least I got your permission to sleep with your man. Don’t pretend that you weren’t jealous when Romeo and I got together and no one wanted you. He told me about how you approach him when we were still in school and after we broke up, how you comforted him when he was lonely and then you don’t want me to call you out on your bullshit!”

“I’ll leave for real this time and don’t come looking for me when he fucks you over,” Halo said and left.

Niam ran after him as he climbed into his car and said, “Halo, wait.”

Halo got back out, and before he could say anything, he smacked Niam across the face. “That’s for fucking my man.”

He smacked him again and said, “That’s for being a bitch!”

Niam cupped his face and stepped back, afraid that he would be hit again. 

“What do you want?” He asked.

Niam stared at him, then shook his head. “Forget it. We’re even for fucking each other’s men.”

Halo just stared at Niam, then climbed into the car and drove off. 

He switched his phone on and saw too many calls and messages on his phone from Romeo. From panicked to threatening.

He went to the clinic, where he dropped Romeo off and the guards who saw him quickly went to call him.

He rushed outside when he heard Halo was here and as ready as he was to kill Halo; he wasn’t ready for the disappointed and hurt look Halo was looking at him with.

“Halo?” He started.

Looking at him Halo said, “You know I only suspected it but to finally know the truth, Romeo? Do you know how it hurts?”

“What? What are you talking about?” He asked.

“You and Niam,” he said.

Romeo’s face fell.

Seeing his expression only broke Halo’s heart further. He climbed out of the car and said, “In high school before we had sex, I saw you and Niam sneak around together and no one fucked Niam, but he was satisfied? You already knew that he was the way he is before I told you and I know that you hitting Justin was to defend him because you’ve been there before.”

“No Halo, wait,” Romeo tried to stop him as he began to panic as he got closer to the truth.

Halo shook his head as he let his tears fall. “You smelled like him and his red hair was even on the back seat. Under your car seat, I found his underwear too and you can’t tell me it wasn’t his because he embroiders his shit with his initials.”

“Halo, I can explain,” he said and held him by the arms.

Halo shrugged him off and took out his phone. He went to his emails and pulled up the information he got from a private detective. Showing him the phone, he said, “Here, take a look. Niam’s not the only one you’ve been fucking, but you’ve been with him since before Detective Rowan entered his life. And then you want to tell me to stay away from him? How stupid do you think I am?”

Romeo briefly looked through the email, then looked at Halo as he spoke. He squeezed the phone in his hand, hard cracking the screen.

“What’s fucked up is that you made me obsess over you as if you are the only man on the plant. I even went as far as killing someone for you Romeo, why would you do this to me? If I can’t satisfy you, then why are you still here wanting to control me? I’m not some brainless zombie… but I am a fucking fool for being under your influence.”

Halo wiped away his tears and looked back at him, saying, “I’m done, Romeo. I’m only nineteen and yet so much has happened to me since meeting you. Don’t come back for me or I will do something that there is no turning back from.”

Romeo let out a breathless sigh as he watched Halo drive away. He squeezed the phone that was still in his hand and could feel his own heart breaking. 

Halo was his everything whether he believed it or not, and now he didn’t even have the courage to speak when all of his skeletons were brought up in front of him.

It looks like this is finally the end of him and Halo.

A few months later in Poland.

Halo was lying on the bed, holding his mouth closed as he cried. His father walked into the room and looked down at him. “Halo, how could you do this to yourself? Do you know you can die?”

He sat up on the bed and looked at him. His father was still holding the pregnancy test in his hand as he paced around the room.

“I wanted to be with him so bad and I never wanted to lose him,” he whispered.

Mr Mc Clelland sighed and sat down next to him. He hugged Halo and said, “You know you have my support, but you just moved here. If you suspected him, why didn’t you let him use protection?”

He looked at his father, saying, “You already know what happened. Why are you asking me again?”

His father shook his head and said, “Well, you’ll have to move back so the doctors can take care of you.”

“But I don’t want to run into Romeo again,” he said, bursting into tears.
