Neo stared at his laptop with frustration. He glanced back at Lou behind him. "Why did he have to destroy every single surveillance camera on the rooftop? Doesn't he know they're extremely expensive?"
Lou shrugged. "Why are you asking me when you're the one at fault?"
Kevin had clearly instructed them that he didn't want anyone to disturb him when he was on the rooftop. They had cleared the people around to make sure that Kevin could stay alone in that place. Still, the young man didn't seem to want them knowing their activity at all.
Every single camera that Neo placed in secret was destroyed without any hope to repair. Right now, the young man wanted to cry in despair. They were all expensive!
"He doesn't destroy them," Lou's voice caused his ear to perk up. "He's just putting them away in a place without signal. That's why every single one is sending you 'no signal' messages."
"He's still too ruthless." Neo sighed.
Lou shrugged. "If you want to peek into their love relationship, do you think he's going to allow you?"
"I just want to know the progress." Neo's face darkened. It was not like he wanted to breach anyone's privacy, but he was too curious to hold back. In the end, he placed several cameras in that place with hope that Kevin didn't know or allowed him to watch.
Unfortunately, that man was simply impossible.
"I'm sure it's pretty good." Lou shrugged.
Neo looked at Lou suspiciously. "I'm pretty sure that you're one of the people who were against her getting close to Boss before."
"As long as she can take care of herself and not become a burden for him, I don't really mind."
Neo: "…" did you only think about their martial art's ability?
Lou flicked Neo's forehead. "People from Black Street have to prioritize their martial ability. It's not like I want to separate couples, but I don't want to make Boss's life miserable because he has to protect one person all the time. Even if you don't have much ability, you should know some self-defense."
"I know," Neo sighed. He recalled Mike's girlfriend and turned to look at the sleeping man by the side. "How about him?"
"He can cope up with whatever he wants to do."
Neo: "…" you're really biased.
Lou shrugged and continued working on his laptop. It was not that he didn't want to pay attention to Mike, but their position was completely different. Even though Mike's life was full of danger, those who chased after him were not as much as Kevin.
Besides, there were not many people this training maniac offended in the past. His mind has always been filled with only martial arts and martial arts alone.
…
After the eventful night, Jason brought the two representatives to the West area. This part originally belonged to the clan here. Thanks to Kevin taking over for the past few months, a lot of things had changed over the course of time. It has become far better.
"I'm grateful that they come here after you have work here, Kevin," Jason said through the call to Kevin.
Kevin was indifferent as he watched the group wander around. "Tell the government to cut off the tax."
"Why are you telling this to me?"
"You have your own way of influencing the officials," Kevin replied indifferently. He had used a lot of money to build this place. Even though most of them came from the tax that he got from this area, he still suffered some loss in terms of overall benefit.
Jason sighed. "I'll talk to my father about that later."
"Good."
Kanae peered to Kevin's face. "Are you sure they will cut off the tax from you?"
"I don't know," Kevin replied calmly. He glanced at the people around them with disinterest. They have been sitting in the same place for nearly an hour. This was a small village on the mountain foot. Because the two representatives insisted on looking at the rural areas, Jason had to bring them here.
Kanae leaned back on the chair as she watched the skies. "It's really boring here. I want to have some fun."
Kevin pointed to his car that he parked not far from them. "The ribbon and the outfit are inside the car."
Kanae rolled her eyes and turned around. As it was a stone chair that shaped like a block, she could turn around easily. Her eyes landed on the mountains before her. It was the same mountain where she used to fight with some people before.
She shifted her attention to the top of the mountain. She recalled that she thought about the top of the mountain as a storm because of the peculiar position there. Looking from this angle, they looked rather normal and not as much as before.
"Kevin, I want to take a walk."
"Where do you want to go?" Kevin turned his head only to see Kanae had started walking. He glanced at the group of people before him. For the past few days, there were no danger around and Lou could handle them very well. There was no harm with him abandoning his post for a bit.
"Lou, I'm taking a break."
"Yes, Boss."
Kevin made a beeline to Kanae's side. He eyed the girl curiously. All these times, she was looking up above towards the mountain peaks. It was as if the mountain peaks were the most interesting things existed in the entire world.
Seeing her expression, he didn't have the heart to interrupt the young girl. In the end, he just followed after her like a chick following its mother hen. After several minutes, Kanae stopped abruptly.
"It's here," Kanae murmured.
"What is it?"
Kanae pointed at the peak of the mountains. "Look at them, it looks like a storm is raging on top, right?"
Kevin raised his head and focused his gaze on the mountain peak. As it was not snowing, he could see the surroundings clearer. From the position where he stood, he could see that the mountain's peaks were looking like a storm raging on.
His eyes widened slightly. This place was not that covered, but it would be hard to see this image. Most of the time, there was fog covering the entire higher part of the mountain. Right now, it was December, so it should be snowing. Thankfully, this afternoon, the sky was clear.
"Why are you paying attention to them?"
Kanae smirked. "Do you remember what you tell me about the five original clans in this city? Their surname's first letter or their clan's name makes one word. It was STORM: Souhon, Tamari, Oboe, Ryukalin, Merion."
Kevin recalled that he had told this to Kanae not long ago. Even though it was not a secret, not many people would pay attention to them at all. He turned his gaze back to the mountain peaks. "How do you find them?"
"I find them coincidentally when we're here in the past," Kanae replied. "I just thought that there should be something special with the place because when I try to look at it in the village just now, it looks very different."
"I see," Kevin looked at the sky as he wondered. The three groups were also making one word 'SKY': Servo, Kanuri, Yam. While the other four also made one word 'DAWN': Doha, Aida, Wells, and Nali.
"Do you want to try coming here when it's dawn?" Kanae uttered her thoughts amusedly. She was asking herself, but she knew better than anyone that it would be hard to come here tomorrow morning. Based on the weather forecast, they told her that there will be a snowstorm tonight. It wouldn't be pretty if she came here during a snowstorm.
She turned her head around to the other side as her mind thought about something.
"Do you have any flashlights?"
"I don't bring it with me, why?"
"When it's dawn, the light will come from the other direction, right towards this place," Kanae replied. "There might be some path that can be seen easier using horizontal light."
Kevin nodded his head. That was very plausible. Looking at his watch, he knew that they had only gone for several minutes. Since Lou didn't call him back, he could guess that they were all having fun without any trouble.
"We can try to look at that area," Kevin pointed to the group of trees not far from them.
"Why?"
Kevin started walking to the trees and looked around. He walked deeper, to the part that nearly completely dark as he pointed to the front. "This place should be rocks, but there are a lot of trees now. The place where the trees grow the most is the suspicious place, right?"
"You're really smart," Kanae exclaimed and stepped forward to take a closer look. Her eyes gleamed as she stared at the dark area in front of them. Thanks to her experience in wandering at night, she has better vision when it is dark. The dark place that was not much of importance for other people was nothing more than a gold mine in front of her eyes.
