"Do you need help?" Kanae asked as she looked at the pale face Cain not far from them. She was digging upward with her sword while Cain made sure that the dirt fell outside the barrier.
"I'm fine," Cain smiled. The training he experienced under Ferdinand in the past was much more excruciating. A little bit of pressure and pain like this was nothing much for him. At least, he still has more than enough stamina to hold on.
Kevin also dug the dirt above them using his sword. Even though their progress was rather slow, they stayed patiently until they could see the light from above. Speeding up their movement, they broke away from the entrapment and rested their body. The last one to come out was Cain.
"You know that you can force the dirt away with your barrier, right?" Kevin turned his head to Cain.
Cain nodded his head. "It's not impossible, but it's wasting too much energy. With my current condition, I won't be able to do that."
He had recovered partially, but his body wouldn't be able to bear the brunt after overtaxing his power. This severely limited his movement, making him unable to force himself too much.
"Talking about power, why didn't Ferdinand use swords to use his telekinesis?" Kanae asked curiously.
"He can't."
"What?"
Cain smiled wryly. "He could only copy the real owner's power by 80% and used their power based on what he had seen before. The real telekinesis power owner, Pen, never uses them to control any sharp item because he's afraid of them. He only used his power to control any other items around him and the one he used the most was trees."
"Why?"
"I don't know," Cain shrugged. He didn't know the exact past of every person under Ferdinand. At that time, he didn't care about anything else other than his own survival.
Kanae shifted her gaze to the side. She could sense thick killing intent from beneath the dirt and movement.
"Ferdinand will come out anytime soon."
"You should move back, Cain. He won't hold back anymore," Kevin instructed as he readied his sword.
Cain nodded his head. The three of them knew better than anyone that this avalanche wouldn't be able to kill Ferdinand. Previously, they were not in the condition to fight against Ferdinand again, but this time it was different.
Kanae had suffered some wounds, but she still could fight. It was the same with Kevin. Their wounds were not too much to the point that they wouldn't be able to fight anymore.
Bang!
The dirt scattered everywhere as Ferdinand leaped forward. The moment he came out, what greeted him was two swords made their ways to attack him. His hand moved to block instinctively, but he was not fast enough as one of them reached his stomach.
Clang! Slash!
'I block the wrong sword,' Ferdinand thought as he stepped back. The one he blocked was Kanae's small sword. If he had blocked Kevin's sword, his wound wouldn't be this severe.
As the two of them charged forward to attack him, Ferdinand found out that his movement had slowed down considerably. It was not because he was limiting his movement, but because he couldn't summon more strength to move them. His pupil shrunk as he realized that he had overused his stamina to use the barrier just now.
His power was making a copy of another people's power. Unfortunately, he would have to summon much more strength to use them, and they would never be able to match against the real owner. This was the biggest and real drawback of his power.
Slash! Slash!
"Copy, recovery," Ferdinand muttered as he focused his attention to the attack before him. He couldn't follow after Kanae's movement anymore. Seeing them was easy because she basically appeared everywhere, but blocking her attack was simply impossible.
He could only fend off Kevin's attack as his mind churned, trying to think for a way out. The hidden passage that he prepared in his house was completely useless because it was buried deep in the ground.
Kevin and Kanae felt that the gravity around them increased tremendously. Since Ferdinand couldn't follow after Kanae's movement, he tried to limit her movement using the gravity field.
"This cheap trick won't stop me!"
Slash!
Forcing herself to move faster, Kanae attacked the man again and again. Her attention was solely focused on making Ferdinand wounded harder while the one who would deal the killing blow would be Kevin.
Clang!
Her repeated attack and Kevin's hard attack made Ferdinand move back again and again. The gravity field didn't manage to stop them as they continued to charge against Ferdinand, determined to end this fight right here and right now. There wouldn't be any other fight in the future anymore.
"You brats!" Ferdinand used his power once again. "Copy, barrier."
Peng! Clang!
Their attack hit the barrier around Ferdinand. Kevin gathered more strength as he swung his sword again, destroying the barrier in one go. Using the momentum, he charged straight to Ferdinand, attempting to kill the man.
Slash! Slash!
Two swords made deep wounds on Ferdinand's body, sending the man away from his original position. Blood seeped out of his wounds as his face turned pale. He had lost too much blood.
"Copy, recovery…"
As his wounds started to close, Ferdinand felt sudden pain in his head. He stopped his attempt as he stared at his hand in disbelief. He had reached his limit?
All these times, he always believed that he was the strongest one in this world. Even under the barrage of bullets, he managed to escape. Taking the most dangerous mission possible, he became one of the strongest people on earth.
But right now, he was forced to his limit by two brats. They were not even as old as his son, but their combined power was enough to push him to the very limit. The pain in his head told him that he wouldn't be able to use his power anymore, no matter which one that was.
He looked at the incoming sword as he closed his eyes. The undefeated legend that he has all these years had come to an end.
Stab! Slash!
Kevin stabbed the man from the front while Kanae slashed his back. The two of them were surprised when they saw Ferdinand didn't move anymore.
'He has reached the limit of his power,' Kevin instantly understood when he saw Ferdinand's face contorted in pain. Even though they could use their power numerous times, it has their limit. They wouldn't be able to use their power continuously without any end.
Retracting his sword, Kevin stabbed Ferdinand again right at the man's heart.
"This… won't… end… so easy…." Ferdinand spat out word by word as he glared at the young man before him. The one who stopped him was none other than the brat he allowed to go years ago. If only he knew this would happen, he would just destroy the entire clan right there in the past.
"You don't have to worry about that," Kevin replied coldly. "It's my problem."
Strength left his body as Ferdinand dropped to the ground with blood flowed out of his body like a waterfall. His eyes were staring full of unwillingness and disbelief. For a veteran soldier who had broken numerous records in the past, he couldn't accept that he would be defeated by two brats.
Unfortunately, this was reality that he had to accept.
