Herris felt his back begin to stab itself. His sheer anxiety at facing such a powerful Red Mage.
Isina also naturally knew how powerful Maya was but she wasn't as aware as Herris. She decided to magically communicate with Herris
'Herris, I know that we have no chance of winning. You've told me the stories of how strong she is...but is there any chance we can escape? I'd be fine losing a limb if needed.'
Herris shook his head while Maya realized they were talking but sat back and started giggling
'I don't think you understand. The second she used her magic we were already trapped. She's a sadist who loves to take her time killing her enemies. While she took her time though, the other enemies would escape. She called it'
"The 8th Hell. A spell that establishes a Hellscape for an hour. Within said Hellscape I have complete control. My fire magic costs nothing and I can prohibit entry and departures. Even teleportation of a lower level than myself cannot escape"
Maya had a wide grin as she kicked her feet in the air cackling even more before suddenly dropping all her smiles and instead shedding almost realistic tears of sadness
"Oh my dear sweet Herris. Ever since I first saw you taking Demonology class with such talent and charm, I'd made up my mind to make you my successor and eventual lover. We could have been HAPPY!"
Her tears evaporated as her face morphed into one of sheer agony and rage
"YOU AND I COULD HAVE BRED THE PERFECT RED MAGE! EVEN BETTER THAN THAT SLUT SISTER OF MINE! A Red Ciel for the ages...instead you had to fall for the temptations of that siren Blue Mage. You broke one of the 5 rules of the pillar and created a filthy abomination. By the will of Solis I must put aside my love and execute the heretic."
Herris was well aware of his master's obsession over him, he couldn't bring himself to fall in love with somebody who only wanted to possess him for his talent and special physique...but he could use her obsession now.
"Master. Disciple knows he has been foolish, I disobeyed your orders and was seduced by a lowly wench from B-Blue- I implore you to remember all our past times together and h-hear- me out, I was disillusioned by the benefits I would gain from her due to her G-Grandfather- like the foolish child I am.."
Within his rambling pleas to Maya, Isina felt her heart break and her reality almost shattered...until she remembered his words and pauses. A secret way the two spoke to each other at social banquets before they were married when their words were heavily scrutinized. Whenever Herris would stutter or pause in the middle of a sentence others would think it was a cute fluster...it was him telling her his true message
Isina recalled the 3 words he stuttered on while Maya just heard his stuttering and thought of how cute he was just like in the past
'Blue, Hear, Grandfather'
It all came flooding back to her like a crashing tsunami. Her grandfather had given her a gift when she graduated as the Blue Valedictorian. An earring that contained a gateway to her grandfathers endless sea of Mana. If crushed it would trigger an alarm for him and teleport him to her immediately.
She could only use it once so she forgot all about it after all these years. She immediately reached for her ear before her arm was grabbed by somebody with immense strength.
Maya's sadistic cackling continued
"I'm not entirely certain what your plan was there, but I'm going to assume it has something to do with some bullshit trump card your grandfather gave you. Ugh, this is why I hate you blue mages. You're all about legacy and protecting and babying your descendants. I had to claw my way up the totem pole body by body. Meaning I'm experienced enough to know that if you kill a highborn brat...you bring along another highborn."
Isina looked at the man holding her arm. A large man with long blonde hair and wearing heavy armor made of pure enchanted gold. His face seemed familiar but what set off warning bells in her mind were his ears and his lecherous smile
"HARLO!"
Isina's shout was full of contempt and disgust at the man who had objectified her since her coming of age festival. He was the nephew of one of the current Heavenly Masters who had tried to sleep with her since her 14th birthday despite being decades older than her.
While there were 7 Pillars of magic in the world ruled by the 7 Ciels that covered the magic spectrum, there were 12 Martial Nations that governed the 12 styles of physical combat. They were more numerous than the mages but slightly less powerful on the same level which kept a balance. This rang true even for the 12 rulers of the Martial Realm called the "Blades of Heaven" or Heavenly Masters for short.
The man before her was a high ranking descendant of the Sudin clan that specialized in Lances and cavalry. They were a clan of peculiar elves that decided to hold a high position in modern society with their impressive beast taming capabilities making their skill while mounted unrivaled.
"Hello my dear, look at how glowing you are even after having your body tainted by that WASTE!"
Harlo held his grip hard on her wrist almost to the point it broke while Isina gritted her teeth in pain. Herris dropped his facade with Maya and charged Harlo while wrapped in blue flames.
Before he could wipe the smug grin off of Harlo's face permanently though, his flames were extinguished and blazing black chains were wrapped around him
"Disciple dear, I always LOVE seeing your burning passion...but I'd love to see this bitch get her comeuppance more."
Herris saw his wifes arm begin to change colors as the blood was unable to get through the death grip. He had one last card to play that everybody had forgotten about. It would require two things
"HEY YOU SHITTY ELF! Get your hands off my woman you sack of shit...or did you think she was still yours? I'd have thought you'd have learned your lesson when I beat your ass back when you tried to sneak into her room. *sniff* it smells like your ass might still be on fire since that time"
Harlo's face immediately turned even paler than a normal elf's with rage as his grip loosed on her hand and he started reaching towards the ground as a portal started slowly opening up beneath his feet. It was burned away though as Maya realized his grip was loosening
"YOU IDIOT KEEP YOUR HEAD!"
It was too late though. While Isina's hand was still tightly enclosed, that wasn't why Herris insulted him
*SCHLINK*
A pale blade ran across the tendons of Harlo's elbow and you could even see the bone at some points. Harlo's grip automatically loosened before he even had a chance to feel the pain
"GAHHHHH!"
Harlo leapt back in pain and surprise as Maya glared
"IMPOSSIBLE!"
Drayin stood there with a pitch black dagger and a brilliant white dagger in each hand.
This was the second part of Herris' plan. He knew Elves, specifically High Elves like Harlo were extremely vindictive and arrogant. Bringing up his past defeat over the woman he desired to possess might not be enough to make him lose all sense; But it was enough to have him focus his aura for an attack rather than a passive defense. That was part one
Part two was that Drayin was a notoriously difficult assassin to capture or locate before Herris defeated him and recruited him. His daggers held two unique abilities that made it possible to hide even from Maya in her domain as long as nobody made direct eye contact with him.
The black dagger could absorb his aura and existence as long as he held it. Normal people wouldn't find any change in his visibility. But to Mages and Martials who relied on their 6th sense more than their base senses it made him incredibly difficult to perceive.
The black blade then directed the aura into the white blade which would stockpile the aura and hide it until releasing it all for a massively lethal attack.
Isina did not miss the opportunity and smashed the crystal earring in her hand. The tiny biy still sedated in her arm seemed to shift and react slightly as a mass of mana flooded the area.
The air was literally tinted blue as the Hell collapsed. The walls were extinguished and all fire magic was turned to steam. Herris fell down from being freed and Maya stopped her floating and landed on her butt with an
"oomph"
Herris looked up and saw him.
'Blauro Vermille- The Mysterious Kraken'
The man who was over 400 years old but still looked like he was in his early 40's looked down at Herris with a wicked grin as he crouched down
"so ye be the rotten bastard who seduced me dear Isea"
'Isea?'
Isina was blushing and glaring at her grandfather but didn't say a word as she needed his help.
Speaking of what she needed help with, Harlo was frozen in fear while Maya was staring daggers into Blauro.
"BLUE CIEL! This is completely against the rules! When it is one of the 7 laws passed by the gods, not even a Ciel is allowed to interfere!"
Blauro looked at Maya with the same cocky grin she had worn previously
"First off lil lass, I don't know what makes ye think that I allowed ye to talk to me as an equal. If it was Mary then maybe I'd allow it. But ye be a runt who doesn't know her place. I came to save me darling Isea, all ye need to kill is the brat."
Isina's hopeful attitude immediately dropped as her ears started ringing. She held her child even tighter now as she backed away. They may have just called a dragon to kill a tiger.
"N-No grandpa, I can't, I won't let them. Not my baby."

Herris grit his teeth
"NO! KILL ME! I'm the one who seduced your granddaughter! Our child did nothing wrong. If you need someone to-"
Before he could say another word he saw blood spurt out from his chest. He coughed up even more blood than spilled out from his wound.
Blauro looked down at him.
"Don't think I'm forgiving ye or letting ye off the hook. Death isn't a fitting punishment for almost killing me family. You will live knowing that your child has been killed and you two shall never meet again. Now Isina, hand the brat over. We can see if it has the eyes of blasphemy and be on our way.
When he turned around to look at her though he found something that shocked him
Isina had a spell in her hand, Blauro as the master of blue magic knew that the spell was a last resort magic.
"Isea come now, don't throw your life away with the bastards."
Isina had prepared a magic spell that would cause her lungs to fill with water and her to drown on land. A magic meant to kill yourself if you were a captured spy. There was no way to stop it once the spell had been prepared...normally.
Blauro cancelled her magic by absorbing the blue mana inside of her. Due to mana exhaustion she fainted still clutching onto her child.
Something unexpected happened though. When Isina fainted with her child in her arms, the impact along with the abundant mana in the air caused the child to wake up and see his mother. The child panicked after trying to wake up his mother and then looked up directly at Blauro...staring him dead in the eyes.

Blauro suddenly found himself in his endless sea of mana within himself and looked around. He heard something large causing massive waves behind him and quickly turned around to see it... The God of Blue
"Aigin. What is it?"
Unlike most mages, the Ciels were direct embodiments of their gods in the world which is why they literally controlled all aspects of their color. Ciels were like high priests in the sense that very rarely could they directly see and speak to their deity. Blauro had seen Aigin 5 times in his life, this being the 6th.
Aigin was the sea. Not the water of the sea alone, it was a giant beast made of the best aspects of each sea creature. The teeth of the sharks, the tentacles of the octopus, the lungs of the whales, the scales of the leviathan, the body of a sea dragon, ETC. A deity the size of an ocean.
Yet despite all that power and all those features...it was scared.
'Blauro, kill him now. Use everything and kill him the second you leave. He's too dangerous to be kept alive. At first I thought it was just a normal mixed blood so it would have just been a nuisance...but it's not. I'm certain I saw it swirling and sparkling!'
Given that Aigin's voice was loud enough to flatten cities, it chose to use telepathy. But the words it said caused just as much destruction to Blauro's psyche
"Hold it, what did ye see Aigin? What exactly could make even ye scared?!"
Aigin sent Blauro out to reality while whispering without telepathy, marking the words in Blauro's mind
'Eye of the Storm'

Blauro regained control of himself as he saw the childs eyes slowly turn to his wounded father. Blauro had to heed his gods words even if they confused him so he mobilized all the blue mana in the surrounding atmosphere into a rain. He then sharpened each raindrop into a sword sharp enough to split mountains and changed their direction towards the child.
That same child who just now saw his father reaching his bloodied hand out. The rain drops, hundreds of thousands of them were sharpened in a billionth of a second...but that was enough time for one emotion to register in the childs mind...rage.
The child screamed as the raindrops enclosed him but then unexpectedly exploded as countless bolts of purple lightning bolted from one droplet to the next. Blauro was a Blue Ciel so he was completely unaffected, albeit caught off guard. What worried him though was that for that split instant he had lost control of all his own mana in the atmosphere.
As the rain continued pouring and purple lightning danced about, the child heard his father
"Dreyin, run, Zyrnae, I *cough* Love."
The child saw his fathers eyes close for the last time as the lighning in the air became even more intense. Neither Maya or Blauro were capable of getting control of their mana. The only two who were at full power were Drayin and Haarlo...except only one of them was wearing armor made of gold that was conducting electricity from the dancing electricity
Drayin saw his window of opportunity and grabbed Zyrnae. He put him on his shoulder and held the screaming boy even though he could feel his skin melting from the potent shocks. The mages were helpless as they tried to give chase.
Maya ground her teeth as she took out a piece of equipment that didn't rely on mana, a shared space pouch. Anything in it would notify the owner of the other space pouch. Maya hurriedly wrote a note and shoved it in
***************************************************
"Child escaped into the southern hills...kill it."
Lerjin read the note out loud and smiled. It was his time to get revenge.
Authors Note: Hey guys, I know I'm introducing a LOT and it may feel kind of forced and I apologize. I got Covid from my brother a day after the prologue and have been feeling loopy. That's why the writing this chapter may seem like a fever dream...because it is lmao. It's also why it was late but I'll try and keep my due dates from now on. I'm still sick and want to give you quality so I am going to probably hold off until this coming sunday or monday. Hope you enjoyed!
