Chapter 246: No Ch: Autor rant and super stupid Q & A

 

Ok, I feel like I'm probably making a mistake for talking about this and I'll probably end up deleting this chapter for next week, but right now I've had enough of a couple of bastards that only come to bother me with their stupid questions and supposed suggestions that will "improve" my story according to their stupid criteria.

 

You are wasting your time by not generating income with your novel / If you are not making money with this novel, you should cancel it:

First of all, what a garbage person to think that if something doesn't generate income it's a waste of time. I imagine that being in the hospital is too, and guess what, being alive is also spending money. Not everyone in the world is a greedy piece of shit who can only see value in coins and nothing else. I did this novel because I wanted to write a story that I wanted to write and I've been working on it for years, I just want to write it for the simple fact of having it there.

I don't care if this ends up being as successful as lord of the rings or Harry Potter and their five thousand ways to monetize their content or if this ends up being the titanic and ends up sinking into poverty, as captain of the ship I will die with my hands on the tiller.

Maybe by the end of the day only my family will read this story and that's enough, to show my children a story I wanted to do, to enjoy the characters I created and the adventures I wrote. There are things in the world more important than trying to swindle everyone you know, in fact this very novel is about that, if you can't see it that's not my problem.

Regarding canceling the novel, I've already said it several times, I'm going to keep writing this because it's what I want. I really don't understand why I should just put aside something I like just because it's not successful.

Inconsistent chapter lengths:

The length of the chapters is determined by what I want to write in that particular chapter, nothing else. If I think I've already talked about everything I had to say in that chapter at that moment, it's over.

I am not a fan of having a fixed number of words in each chapter. If I already spent the main idea and I don't reach the goal number and is not long enough, I will have to put filler that will probably be tedious for everyone, and if the idea is long, I will have to cut important information just to reach that number.

I already had an experience in TAPAS where there is a limit of 15000 letters, not words, letters. Each chapter is so horribly cut that you can't understand anything, I felt so sorry for that thing that I haven't published it there anymore, I would delete it if I could find the option.

So until now, you noticed that every author likes to write things that he likes? seriously, both that super grotesque horror story as well as that super progressive story that you read in safe spaces.

As I said before this is a PERSONAL project, so as an author, I have only one client to please, and that is myself, so I will write what I want because I want to.

The mermaid? yeah right, she's only there because I wanted to put one in my story, that's the whole reason behind it.

No seriously, that's all, one day I saw Monster Musume and I liked the concept of Mero, so I wrote something similar, can't you tell? 

All I did was work in the background to create a credible excuse as to why I incorporated the mermaid, but the reason it's there is really because I wanted to put in a cute mermaid, nothing else.

The demon? just look for someone who looks like a villain in the protagonist's group and I like the characters that are a mess, one moment they are doing something funny and then a huge tragedy, I feel they are quite dynamic and can be used for many things in a story.

Tamamo-no-mae? Same thing, I wanted a fox girl and I felt sorry for her story, I just added her to write a nicer story with that character, something happier.

And that you surely don't know that, the twins too. Same reason, I just thought that a relationship between two parents trying to raise children that are clearly not theirs seemed cute to me. That's all, because another reason would put together so much weird shit in the first place, I just wanted to make a story where a family where each individual is super different from the rest and yet they still spend all their time helping each other no matter the circumstances.

I'm sure you then didn't notice how all that military crap is also the author's preference, the maps, the factions, Atlantis, Etria, Aria, the magic, weapons, the villains, the robots, the important artifacts, demons, even the order in which the chapters are arranged has to do with my preferences.

The story chronologically begins there, that is correct, but this novel is not the story of Cesar conquering Atlantis. This story is about him many years after he became a broken man after seeing so much shit in his life, in the first chapters you can see how he really doesn't even care about him being alive anymore.

What I wanted to convey was a story at the beginning of a great warrior who had already come to less, tired of his past battles, just looking for a place to rest. And for that, I had to invest a history of conflict prior to the beginning of the novel as such, that's why I created the rest of the past, Atlantis and all that. But since I didn't want to create a simple "the man has 3 years in some war that is never detailed", I decided to create an interesting background with important events ordered in a timeline that would make sense every time I came back to talk about it, that would have consistency.

Otherwise, I would have to write the entire Atlantis adventure before even writing a single chapter of the story I wanted to tell.

This novel clearly has Republican/Democratic leanings / It's American/Russian/whatever propaganda:

I live in a third-world country forgotten by the hand of the whole world, in the last elections for president there were 26 different political parties and I only voted for the one I thought had the best strategy for government in the years to come.

I don't even remember what it was called anymore, I don't care about North America, both teams look like shit to me. What the US does with their failed "two-party democratic system of just two equal motherfuckers" doesn't matter to me.

No, just because the story has parts that took place in Russia does not mean it is pro-Russian. When I started writing this story it was before 2010, when everyone thought that Russia was trying to integrate into the world. How the hell was I supposed to know that 12 years later it would invade Ukraine?

At the beginning I received a lot of complaints because I didn't explain all of Atlantis, the Continental War, and the rest of the novel in less than 10 chapters.

This story was created from the beginning knowing that it would be really long, as such I arranged quite a few things with this fact in mind in advance, the piecemeal recounting of past events for example. Something that already caused me a lot of problems in the first days with the readers.

Now it is the opposite, too long for their 20 seconds of attention span. No, getting this novel out in TikTok shorts is not going to work. You don't have to be a fortune teller to know it won't work.

 

This novel has elements of Gender Bender, Yuri, LGTB, Harem and I don't like that, so this story is bad and I leave a bad review:

The novel is marked all over the place, that you don't know how to read a written story is not my problem.

I only wrote the topics I wanted to write about. Gender Bender was fun to write, focusing more on someone who wants to continue to be treated the same way despite his change. The Yuri I just thought it was a continuation of the theme showing how the other girls support the main character and continue to be with him showing that they appreciate him for the person he is instead of his sex.

Personally, I hate soccer, and I'm never going to be going to soccer games just to say I hate the sport, that's stupid.

Despite being a romance and harem story, I don't see sex anywhere, when will there be sex scenes?:

This story is not about that, it does have "spicy" moments but nothing more than that. 

I want this story to be about romance and sweet and cute moments. warm moments with others, where they show their support for each other.

If all you're looking for in a story is to see how fast the protagonist fucks someone or how many different girls he has sex with, there are plenty of other stories elsewhere. It's personal preference, I don't want to write about it, as I think it's completely out of the tone I want for my story.

Maybe if I made a living at it, but since I don't, it's pretty hard. It's hard enough to get each chapter out, it's not as easy as writing the first thing that comes to my head, sometimes there are chapters that are easier than others, for example the battle of Okinawa was a real horror, where I spent almost a full week doing each chapter, I can't do something like that in a row.

 

But not to leave all this as just something negative.

Yes, I have several ideas that I would like to write sometime derived from this novel.

The first is the most obvious, a prequel to everything that happened to Atlantis, although in the best case it will be only the events already mentioned ordered chronologically.

The second I had idea was to do a story that would take place between the two world wars and the interim. With Elise and Tamamo as the main characters. This time narrating real historical facts and real characters with a bit of fantasy. Somehow Elise ends up working under the command of the German high command during World War II, Elise knows a lot about the subject and knows the order of all the historical events that will happen in the following years, so she decides to use this to her advantage to help the allies win the war, while at the same time trying not to be discovered as a traitor. Maybe even include a bit of the cold war too later.

The other was something like the title, Squadron 42. Where the protagonists will be members of the Special Operations Squadron 42 of the alliance.The idea is that they somehow end up in the same battles as Elise and the others, but in another place. For example in New York they would be part of the national guard that gathered in Hoboken and attacked in the west to free civilians while Elise attacked the west of the city.Or in the battle of Okinawa they are the ones in charge of fighting for the second time the Imperial Fleet, while Elise stole the aircraft carrier, and then they narrate how they regained control of the other islands in the following weeks.
