Chapter 4: 04

Tori was dealing with her panic about the book by rolling herself up in a giant fluffy blanket and hiding in bed with her phone playing an old romcom. She hadn't even washed her makeup off by the time she fell asleep, and when she woke after midnight (her phone battery flat) and stumbled into the bathroom, she looked a fright. Like the frightening thing she looked like 15 years earlier.

She turned the shower on and tried not to cry.

In her office, Judy was studiously ignoring the whole book situation. Her secretary had left a copy on the lunch table earlier and all Judy did was roll her eyes and ignore it. She was too busy working to care about the book. Everyone who worked for her could take notes on what it meant to be dedicated to the job.

Working at midnight wasn't uncommon for her, nor was choosing to sleep on the couch outside her office.

She couldn't imagine the publication of this book was going to change anything about her life.
