Ch 14- Glass Wall Hotel

Again, after we hopped on Ryder, we moved through the street. We only needed around 10 minutes before we arrived at the hotel.

It was located in a relatively small area. However, it was surrounded by huge skyscrapers. But the building itself was impressive. With three towers, each tower was shaped like a hexagon. The height of each tower varied from 20 to 25 floors, making the entire structure stand around 150 to 200 meters tall. On top of the main tower, there was a big sphere with a diameter of 100 meters. Inside the sphere were a revolving restaurant and an observation deck.

'Oh my God...' I looked at the hotel in amazement as I got off Ryder. The same as before, the robot arms came from the metal floor of the parking lot and grabbed Ryder. But rather than scanning it, it dragged Ryder down to the basement. I bet it was some kind of automatic parking system or something.

"Is this a 5-star hotel?" I guessed. Well, Shea was a princess so it was a stupid question.

Shea frowned.

"What are you talking about? This is only a common 3-star hotel." She exhaled a long breath. "We just spent a lot of money to fix Ryder and Guardians. I can't waste more money," she said under her breath. I almost couldn't hear it.

I frowned.

'Huh? But isn't she a princess?' I thought. She should have a lot of fortune.

I wanted to ask her but I held my question until we got to our room. I also wanted to ask why she was alone. She was a princess, at least she should have a bodyguard or two. Yet no one was with her. Previously, I thought her bodyguard was dead when she sneaked into the cyborg's laboratory, but judging from her expression it seemed it wasn't the case. Well, it could be this era's princess didn't need bodyguards or knights like in the past.

"Let's get inside, Axl," she said as she went in. And I followed her.

"You don't want to fix Ryder first?" I asked as I moved my feet beside her.

"I want it, but we can't do it here," she whispered. "It's too crowded." She was right. My skill could give us trouble.

We entered the lobby. It was filled with humans, elves, demi-humans, and aliens. They blended and communicated as if they were from the same place.

In front of the reception counter, there was a holographic human-like being with a friendly smile. The receptionist wore a gray jumpsuit and had short blonde hair. Her eyes were blue and her skin was light pink. As soon as we entered, the receptionist greeted us.

"Welcome!" she said cheerfully. "My name is Ada. I will be taking care of you today. Would you like to register for the hotel?"

"Yes. One room please," said Shea.

"Please show me your ID and virtual account for registration," said the receptionist.

Without a word, Shea showed the device on her wrist to the receptionist. "Here you go."

The receptionist scanned it with her device then she smiled again.

"Thank you." She handed us a card with the number 311 on it. "I am giving you a 10% discount for today. You may use it on anything in the hotel."

"Thanks." Shea took the card.

"The elevator is that way." The receptionist gestured to her left. "Please enjoy your stay."

As we went to the elevator, I asked her again.

"Are you sure we are going to stay in one room?" I asked. I didn't mind it, but she was a princess. So she should have some kind of reputation or whatever that she needed to protect.

"Yeah, I'm sure. Besides, you don't have an ID. We can't book another room."

I nodded repeatedly.

"Make sense." I could use this chance to ask all my questions to her.

The elevator went up. Once we got out, we walked through the corridor. It was hard to believe that this was just the hallway of a normal hotel. The walls were made out of glass, so we could see the city outside. On each side of us, there were doors to the guest rooms. The glass walls allowed us to see what was inside. But the occupied one's glass walls were covered by a thick fog glass wall. We couldn't even see a shadow from there.

Each door was marked with a number. There was an old-fashioned key slot beside each door. A normal key-type lock.

Many other guests were coming and going. Some were wearing robes while others wore suits and dresses. They spoke to each other in different languages. Most of them were dressed in modern clothing, but some were dressed in shirts and dresses.

And rather than normal hotel staff, some robots replaced them. These robots were probably the ones responsible for maintaining the hotel's cleanliness. They were silver machines with a square body shape. Their upper part was flat and similar to a humanoid robot with a large head. Its lower half was cylindrical.

We stopped in front of room 311. I tapped the card and opened the door for her. It was a tiny room with one bed, a TV, a long sofa, and a small table with two chairs. There was a glass window by the door that allowed us to look at the view outside. All of them were in white.

"Okay." Once I closed the door, the glass walls around us were covered with fog. "This is so cool." Well, the place was a bit tiny, but the futuristic vibe was awesome.

"Axl, " she called my name.

I turned to her. "Yes?"

Once I caught her serious expression, I knew she wanted to get down to business. Whatever it was.

"I know you want to ask me a lot of things. I also want to explain a lot to you. Mind a serious conversation for a while?" she said as she sat down on the chair.

"I don't mind." I sat down across from her and I put on a serious expression. "I also want to say the same."
